Saw this link on the PRO website. It's a list of all the officials who have ever worked MLS Cup. thought this was pretty interesting. http://proreferees.com/officials/mls-cup-roll-of-honor/
It's not quite all correct. They have Toledo as referee in 2005 instead of Stott. Laszio Negy instead of Laszlo Nagy. I think those are the only three errors.
Olson is usually known as Steve, and is so listed on the FIFA Honor Roll in the older editions of the US LOTG. Maybe Scott is his real name, unless there is a different Olson. PH
Additionally, they link to the active officials, but they omit Gantar. Also, why not link to staff members who have worked MLS Cup (Kennedy, Barkey)? Isn't that an easy way to show the credibility of your staff to any non-referee who comes to this link through the years? What starts as an article to honor those who have had the highest distinction in MLS, turns out to be riddled with errors & is snickered at by those with basic referee history knowledge.
I wasn't snickering! I don't even know how to snicker. I don't even like Snickers. On this subject, I believe Steve Olson was (or maybe still is) a referee or AR assessor/coach/evaluator for PRO. PH
I'm assuming someone at PRO threw this list together in about 5 minutes before leaving the office on a Friday afternoon, and it shows. Should have asked PSRA for a list. Someone probably would have even run it by me for a double check. Oh well. It was still a good idea overall.
