Technically, that could happen before the stadium is remotely complete (as long as you can get to the concourse). Wait ..... Is there a concourse in the new stadium? Duplo would require child labor. That would be fine in Va., but runs afoul of DC labor laws )
And hardly anything was done at Audi Field for a while. There were still a lot of paperwork and forms to get thru.
What DC law is that? Certainly not the one that requires actual labor to be done by people from MD and VA
I think the point is that it should take longer to build due to seismic codes/concrete/etc and DCs should be structurally easier to build. Of course weather is a factor and that may cause things to even out. This is the current state of LAFC's Banc Stadium. "It's beautiful... It's my home."@LaurentCiman23's first look at @BancStadium pic.twitter.com/nmkQe3NtTy— LAFC (@LAFC) December 20, 2017 They had a fan event there this weekend that unfortunately overlapped with a gymnastics meet so I couldn't get to take pictures in person. These are from the live cam. James
I would agree with that and I know that's what he was getting at. I mean mostly when this is brought up irrespective to construction times - it seems to be a knock on the stadium/ownership itself that they're using "cheap" and "pre-fab" materials, "erector set", etc. I guess my question is what is the issue with that? They think it'll look shitty? Think it'll collapse one day due to cheap materials? Just knocking the owners for not spending more money?
I have no problem with a precast erector set if in the same vein there is at least a decent skin slapped on the thing.
The stadium can be uglier than sin, as long as it has good sight lines and a good team on the pitch, the rest really doesn't matter.
DC doesn't have to wait for months for concrete to cure. LAFC basically poured all the concrete and then had to wait for months before they could start the steel work. No offense, but DC is closer to Vancouver's old Empire Field than it is to LAFC.
Thanks, but see my reply to Morissey above. Guess I wasn't clear in changing what I was referring to. Great avatar also
I already know (ps posting stuff in the offseason thread instead of here. mods stop me quick if you want it here instead))
For what it's worth I really liked Empire Field, I'm not a fan of BC Place. But yes, at grade, bolted together, very little reinforced concrete, minimal roof, etc. Audi Field may end up being a classic, but it's still quick and cheap. The two things are not mutually exclusive.
Looks like you can helicopter right in to the airport easy peasy. Actually, that would be a nice scooter ride along the Maryland side of the Potomac, cross at the ferry, cruise into Leesburg catch a D2 game and then ride back.
All in two days too! The W&OD trail is 1/4 mile from my house in Vienna and goes straight into Leesburg about 25 miles later. One more option for people who don't mind exertion (other than beer lifting) in pursuit of sporting attendance
Here with Elias and Maria Polio from Pupusas stand, and in case you were worried, we have something to tell you!! @ScreamingEagles @Barra_Brava @DistrictUltrasX @dcunited pic.twitter.com/bP2CmdrobW— Chef José Andrés 🕊️🥘🍳 (@chefjoseandres) December 21, 2017
So instead of playing (temporarily) where fans can access the game, they are going to play 3 matches at Annapolis? This is absurd, whats the logic? Rent?
