Let's stop talking about our own team and start talking about the other team. I'm talking about our group. Here's a World Cup Draw Simulator. The common fears that are brought up are: A group with 2 teams from Europe A group with a Top 5 Side A group with long travel distances The official draw is on December 1st. The potential worst draw for Colombia: Germany Colombia Denmark Nigeria The potentially best draw for Colombia Russia Colombia Iran Panama Teams I think we should fear/worry about more than others (non Pot A): Iceland: A small defensively solid side that has given many large teams like ours trouble in the past. South Korea: A team we have never ever beaten. Nigeria: A fast dangerous and troublesome squad that punches above their weight.
We have beaten South Korea. Pretty sure I went to the game as well. Maybe that was the US not sure. I prefer Germany in group stage. That way we won’t have to deal with them until the semifinal or finals. Hopefully by that point someone knocked them and Brazil out. But I also wouldn’t mind that Russia group you mentioned One thing tho I would prefer to play in one of the last groups so we could calculate who we will play against. Not saying throw the game but if we are in the Russia group you put ans last game is against Russia. Then fk it throw all the subs In and get a tie to be 2nd and get the easier team in knockout rounds. Last WC our next opponent was going to be Italy/Uruguay then Brazil/Chile The other route was much easier
Russia Colombia Iran Panama .[/QUOTE] I personally would rather be placed with Poland than Russia .We all know how the referees tend to be favor the host country always and given the fact that is Russia I would rather not.
I got France, Iran, Morocco... I could live with that group. In the same draw, Germany and Spain were in the same group, Argentina got Croacia, Denmark and Nigeria, and Uruguay got Russia, Egypt and Serbia.
Belgium, Serbia and Egypt Germany, Denmark, Panama(looked like group of death till panama showed up Regardless getting to the 2nd round or head or a group will be much harder this time around.
I'll work backwards: Pot 4 Serbia is the only team I see being able to keep a close game with us; if we can't beat the rest of the teams in Pot 4, we are in trouble Pot 3 Iceland and Sweden, like Serbia I can see giving us a tough time to score. Pot 1 ***Russia - we should be able to beat them str8 up ***Germany - they worry me, but i think we have the potential to pull off a 0-0 draw; players like Mina and Duvan will need to really step up in this match up. i would personally want to face them in a group stage rather than knockout round (unless it was the final =) ***Portugal - i can see us in a dog fight with portugal, but i think we can beat them ***Belgium - they have been in a groove since 16 Euro; i think if we can put pressure and get in an early lead, we can take them; they kind of remind me of the form we were in 2012/2013 ***Poland - i think we can beat them, but Lewandowski is probably the best #9 in the world. we would need to freeze him out of the game otherwise i can see him exploiting Ospina badly ***France - same as Germany. no margin of error in this match up ***Brazil/Argentina - we would face them in knockout round, but i am confident that we can put forth a dogfight and not let either team take control of the game.
Germany, Brazil and France are levels above us specially when it comes to playing WC type tournaments. Every game still has to be played and it's 11 v 11 but that's just it, these aforementioned teams are deep....deep...deep in almost every position. I'm not sure what to expect for Colombia but super proud to be seeing 'Los Cafeteros' in the big stage once again.
Poland, Colombia, Sweden, Nigeria I'll keep my comments to myself from now on. Holy crap, this group would suck, hahaha
I agree, better not. I hate Sweden... Nigeria is quite tricky as well - all teams would have like 25% of qualifying, there would be no "easy" games, super equal group.
The only good thing about a Group like this is that we would be the de facto home team in every single match. As I have said in another thread Colombia is in the top 7 countries in ticket requests for matches. The other teams in this Group are not even in the top 10 in ticket requests. Just like in 2014 I think having good support will be a factor in our success. James, Falcao and the rest of the players will feed off the crowd energy. *Edit Poland is in the top 10 but still behind us.
Hey why nobody gives like to my map? Whatch someone post the map later and everyone being like oh Thanks! Is surprising why nobody has put the map before, now we can see where the games are going to be played at and who has to travel more blah blah blah
https://www.ole.com.ar/futbol-internacional/simulacro-sorteo-rusia2018_0_1907809227.html These guys predicted the argentina group in 2014. Poland Colombia Tunisia Australia It's a decent group but accessible.
We can top this group. Polands aerial game is the only thing I fear. But Tunisia and Australia shouldn’t be be too much a problem
I have been wanting to ask the same question., I applied for tickets on the first phase and didn't get any.. second phase nothing.. Waiting to see if this next phase i get some. I'm in a group with like 200 Colombians and only 1 person was successful in getting tickets. Not sure what the deal is here. It wasn't like this for Brazil and there was way more demand.
