LOL! There was a debate about what we need to do nurture a generation of good young players. Turns out we had them all along, we just didn’t play them.
This is selfish, unscientific and means little, but ... god, these kids are so much more fun to watch.
Well, regardless of the outcome, I feel pretty good in saying we have some nice pieces to build on ... and that is all I really wanted to see.
you hate to see so many attacking passes! got to keep the back passing higher up the pitch. good god i cant believe our coaches fielded the same group of losers for so long.
Stu spouting clichés and regurgitating the superficial solutions of others. We played in tough friendlien the road in Europe in the years leading up to our downfall. By itself, it does nothing. Mix newer, promising players from respectable leagues, with an open-mind about where they play, and use events against reasonable opponents for integration whenever realistically possible. That's an actual practical plan. Stu was a great player but is a terrible analyst, imo.
Not entirely unrealistic to imagine a 2-0 or 3-0 USA scoreline right now. We've had the 4 best chances this game by far.
Yeah, get a good permanent coach installed, add Pulisic and Gonzalez to this group, and we got something good going.
Yup. Part of the problem is that US Soccer seemed to want to brag about winning road friendlies, so we would always bring as close to our A squad as possible. Then we go, "why don't our young players have more experience?"
I'll buy the argument that using the same players in Trinidad on a mostly heavy pitch after they played hard and showed well against Panama 4 days prior did not bode well for a repeat effort by USA. But man, if Bruce had put 2 or even 3 of these guys on the field that fateful night, we could have been qualified by now. Pulisic was one of the few players who not only 'wanted it', but had plenty of gas in his tank to give his team a fighting chance.
Exactly. Playing the young players on the National Team gives them exposure to coaches in Europe and makes it easier to get a work permit to play there. Like what Klinsman did for Yedlin.
Watching this, there's literally zero reason to ever call Bradley and Nagbe again. All they'd do is block mins for these kids, plus Gonzalez. Gonzalez McKennie Williams Adams need the bulk of NT mins over the next year. Then I'd add Acosta and Roldan to it. Those are our six CM's going forward. Bradley/Nagbe don't deserve a min over any of them. It's all about the future.
