Screw that. He screws up so the reward is other players dont get their chance to show better? I seriously hope Sarachan isnt as silly.
In Horvath's defense, he was probably scared of the ball hitting his chest and falling to one of the zero Portuguese ready to pounce...
That Portuguese defender is probably going to be playing for Canada eventually. Lived there until his teenaged years
That’s what irks me about Nagbe. He’s OK technically, but he can’t see runs and pick passes consistently to save his life.
I just pointed out that it's a false dilemma to play old, injured Howard or someone green like Horvath. Play Guzan if that was your sufficiently experienced option at the time, and give Hamid long overdue opportunities in the lead-up so maybe he could have been the guy. If you did things like suggest playing Horvath in net off one cap in a friendly against Cuba, it was super unwise and wrong.
Horvath is a 22 yr old GK. His prime is many years away. That's hardly an indictment on where his career takes him.
With Gonzalez, Hamid and Steffen, we shouldnt be calling Horvath for a while. Cant catch, cant distribute. Bad combo for a keeper.
No, I agree with that point, but you seemed to be stating that experience is why Horvath screwed up. Horvath might just be bad, but the mistakes weren't down to experience.
It's an example of why Pulisic on the wing under Bruce saw an 0-1-3 record while he was stranded. The mids Bruce chose can't and don't play quick forward balls. Williams and McKennie do.
Horvath just needs to do something interesting with facial hair. His mien is far to benign. Something malevolent and unsettling....
One way or another, whether it was nerves or if he hadn't proven enough, it would have been wrong. Either way you're dealing with too much of an unknown and you're just not in a position to do that in the situation.
