JAjajaja Chile se auto-cagó tratando de hacer trampita... si se mantenian los resultados originales de bolivia esas dos fechas, los chilenos estarian jugando el repechaje contra nueva zelandia en noviembre
Felicitaciones a Colombia y Perú.
I expect Peru to pretty much blow up NZ. The kiwis are pretty bad. And the Aussies should defeat Honduras.
LOL, I like how you are heartless against Chile. Chile would have made the playoff spot had they not whined so much about that Bolivian player.
lo de los puntos de la FIFA a Chile es ridiculo. es como una justicia poetica.. casi en todo tiene que ver Bolivia en que Chile este afuera del mundial.
Obviously everyone hates Argentinian arrogance but I'm really surprised that so many people were happy to have a World Cup without Messi. A World Cup without the arguably best ever?? C'mon man... You're not a fan of the sport if you feel that way.
Peru will torch New Zealand, they are in but of course keep the focus until it's actually over. Really impressed with Venezuela and I like what Dudamel is doing with the young team. All the best of luck for the next Copa America and WC qualifying cycle. Also, did anyone get a feel that Ecuador was letting Messi shoot at will? It all looked too easy, even against a revamped Ecuadorean side which showed a lot of quality during the match.
Brasil has incorporated Tite's mentality and philosophy: treat every match with a businesslike attitude, no nonsense, fight to the finish. 12 games unbeaten in WCQ with 10 of them wins, with several goleadas. We are the top contender in CONMEBOL at this moment. Neymar tonight did not lose his temper, served his teammates, and was a key player despite not scoring - and with Paulinho and Gabriel Jesus, the 5-time World Cup champions are back. Uruguai without too many hiccups and surprises finishes second and they won the games they needed to win. Note that tonight's 4-2 win over Bolivia was 6 Uruguayan goals - 2 of them own goals. The Uruguayans are fighting hard every year, and while in 2014 they fell short of their 4th place finish in 2010, they are in the World Cup without the playoff for the 3rd straight time. Nice to see a former powerhouse build itself back into contention. Argentina - rather, Messi - gets the job done. An impressive hat trick to break a 4-game winless streak. But there are many areas which need great improvement. 3 managers and more than 40 players later, what Argentina has is a group of great players but not an actual functioning team. 9 months is plenty of time to correct this, so if Jorge Sampaoli (the criticism this man has received after only 4 WCQ matches on the job, from his own country's media, is unbelievable) builds an actual team, the Argentines should merit attention come 2018. Colômbia is a team I expected to classify directly, so when it ran the risk of ending up in 5th place or even eliminated, I was surprised. But this was less its own failures and more the uniquely competitive WCQ tournament CONMEBOL finished tonight. Under Jose Pekerman's tutelage and a solid team, the quarterfinalists from 2014 will have a chance to build on that year's success. Peru is a team I have grown to respect and which has earned the respect of many others. It was defensively excellent at Buenos Aires last week, and it demonstrated confidence and tactical solidity. Credit to Ricardo Gareca, who left a good impression at Brazilian club Palmeiras even though his stay there was short. I really did not want Peru to be left out of this World Cup, and am pleased it will (almost certainly) secure a berth in Russia as it is a clearly superior team to New Zealand. Guerrero made his name in Corinthians and in Bayern Munich; let's see how he does in NT competition against the world's best. Chile should have made it. I sympathize with its fans who complain that its 0-1 defeat at Argentina was controversial (it was). But Chile lost key games it had no excuse to lose - its recent 0-3 loss to Paraguay was a waste of points to a team which ultimately did not even qualify. And it is bitingly ironic that the two-time continental champions and 2017 Confederations Cup runner-up could have been in 5th place tonight if not for its insistence on TAS abiding by its ruling (taking points away from Bolivia for fielding an irregular player). Had TAS ruled to maintain the results achieved in the field of play, Chile would have had a 5th place finish with Paraguay in 6th with 24 points and a worse GD - and Peru at 7th. But because of its federation's actions, it is Peru and not Chile which will now face New Zealand. Equador will leave its fans wondering what might have been. Who would have thought on that night in early October 2015 that the team which soundly won 2-0 in Argentina would later go into a spiral, lose several games, and see all mathematical chances for qualification be squandered. Coach changes, players fighting the federation... a pity. This is a team that has gone to the past several World Cups (minus 2010). Hopefully the local federation will clean up house, keep the players that are still young enough, and rebuild for 2022. Venezuela impressed many fans and observers. It did not lose in Argentina, it was winning at home vs. Argentina before the latter drew, and it defeated Paraguay in Paraguay tonight. It has a crop of talented young players, and these Venezuelan footballers are not intimidated by big-name players or traditional teams. While we may have to wait a few years before Venezuela reaches the World Cup, I very much hope that grief-stricken country's federation develops these talented youths to the utmost, as Venezuela has given signs it could be the next upstart in CONMEBOL. No comments on Paraguay and Bolivia.
What happened is that Ecuador had no reason to bunker down on defense which gave space for Messi to operate. Argentina have had a lot of problems with teams that bunker. When Messi gets some that's what happens. And he only took 4 or 5 shots if I am not mistaken.
Im ok with everything that happened tonight. Even better was all the results setting up Paraguay to make it to the world cup with a late winner and just shutting that down. Revenge for the 2010 WCQ exit.
The third goal in particular looks like they were not even trying, and notice the Ecuadorean sweeper slides to the ground on a shot that goes over the keeper's head
