I was rather surprised when I turned on the second half this morning. I was not expecting a score like that.
Actually, I'm talking about the Friday game (Friday night there). But yeah, both of them were blowouts.
I actually saw about 10 min of that too, but it was early in the match. Carlton's been out of it since almost that start of the season--but at least they did not win the wooden spoon.

You silly people who don't believe that is a massive crack that is going to cause the stadium to tumble at any minute.
KGilbert--I'm quoting you to get your attention. Bruce will announce his roster for the final two WCQ's probably this Monday. How has, or *has* Fabian Johnson been playing for 'Gladbach?
Well, we got absolutely hammered by "the wrong Borussia" over the weekend. He got a low grade--but then again everyone did. Played 72 min. That was his first start of the season due to recovery from injuries (we've been pretty snakebit this season, losing our top singing Grifo and our keeper Sommer, among others--Kramer got kicked in the head a couple of games ago, too (yes, the guy was red carded)). Johnson also played 20 min in the midweek win vs Stuttgart. I'd say it's a tossup. When healthy, Johnson is a regular at Gladbach. He re-signed in the off season through 2020. I did not see either of the two matches, though they were available on TV, as I was in Iowa this past week (our hotel did not have FS1), so I cannot personally attest to his play.
Bruce announces his roster for the last two WC qualifiers. http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...ld-cup-qualifiers-get3-panama-trinidad-tobago U.S. ROSTER BY POSITION (Club; WCQ Caps/Goals): GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Atlanta United FC; 15/0), Tim Howard (Colorado Rapids; 37/0), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake; 0/0) DEFENDERS (9): DaMarcus Beasley (Houston Dynamo; 35/6), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City; 12/1), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City/ENG; 24/2), Omar Gonzalez (Pachuca/MEX; 16/0), Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana/MEX; 6/1), Tim Ream (Fulham/ENG; 6/0), Jorge Villafaña (Santos Laguna/MEX; 4/0), DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle United/ENG; (8/0), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City; 20/3) MIDFIELDERS (10): Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas; 5/0), Juan Agudelo (New England Revolution; 0/0), Paul Arriola (D.C. United; 5/1), Alejandro Bedoya (Philadelphia Union; 9/0), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC/CAN; 38/7), Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City; 6/0), Dax McCarty (Chicago Fire; 0/0), Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers; 9/0), Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund/GER; 11/5), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy; 4/1) FORWARDS (4): Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC/CAN; 39/16), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders FC; 41/18), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes; 0/0), Bobby Wood (Hamburg/GER; 12/4) Good to see Yedlin back; I wonder about his overall fitness. Sounds like GCameron is coming back from a hamstring injury. Hopefully he's fully fit and ready to go. A hammy is what kept Jordan Morris off this roster. No Fab J; sounds like he wasn't seeing the field a lot in Germany. Wondoloski and not Dwyer? Zardes again? Old man Rimando instead of giving a younger keeper experience in participating in camp and WCQ experience? Guzan better get the nod over Howard or else there will be problems. Not sure what to think. Seems like Bruce is riding an old horse pretty hard. Because the MNT has nine players on caution watch entering this match, Arena has once again elected to call a larger 26-player roster. Acosta, Arriola, Beasley, Bedoya, Besler, Bradley, Cameron, Dempsey and Yedlin will serve a one-match suspension with their next yellow card. Lots of players sitting on a yellow. Hopefully they can play it cool against Panama. Well, AND T&T, in case we need to go to the playoff in November.
As noted earlier, Johnson was coming off an injury, which is why he hadn't been playing. He went 78 min yesterday.
He's been going the full 90 the last 5 or so games for NUFC so I'd say he's as close to 100% as you can be (for a professional soccer player at least).
I'm gonna be at the Panama game. Which means, based on all the other USMNT WCQs I've attended, we're gonna beat T&T 4-0.
We have a decent contingent of Crew fans who will be in Sammers which is part of section 27 in the Wall
I was actually pricing flights for that trip -- would have been cool. Looks like I'm settling for having a job again as a consolation.
Cool. I imagine I will be as far away from that as possible - she's not a big crowds person. Still, I'll try and swing by. And if we lose you'll still have a job! Win-win.
