Zenit are currently leading the Russian Premier League with 21 points (6 wins, 3 draws) and a goal difference of +13, which is far better than the next best team (+6).

Driussi, Rigoni, Paredes, Kranevitter, and Mammana are all regular starters for the team.

They've won their first EL game 0-5 against FK Vardar. I'm hoping that Zenit go far in the Europa League. That will give them some knockout competition experience.

Where are the wingbacks in this team?

    Salvio-Paredes-Acuna in the mid?

Needless to say, but an absolute must-win against Peru.

For all those of you always asking for Garay, apparently he asked Sampaoli to be excluded from the list for these two decisive games vs. Peru and Ecuador....

    Any reason given?

Also, Gago and Milton Casco expected to be called up from local players.

Kun hits a hattrick and a assist. Its really hard to believe we got forwards line that basically a top 10 best strikers on the planet and they struggle to score one or two goals in NT, everyone of them.

The forwards line that being called up the last time, has scored 5-7 goals in within a few games.

Otamendi also scored with his trademark header.

    Aguero's 3rd goal was phenomenal...going past 3-4 players.

It will remain one of the greatest mysteries to me how we are blessed to have some of the purest talents in the world yet they can't fulfill even 1/4th of their potential in the NT.

It is really, really sad and illogical, to me, at least.

They did, during 2012-2013, the front four alone scored 28 goals in 2014 qualifier. They countered like a blitzkrieg.

However, they arrived to the WC after injury plague season and Di Maria already burnt out after CL final. But its apart from under Sabella's day, the whole team just struggles all the time. It seems that they didnt even know where they should pass the ball, its doesnt
    sad & illogical.

I like that Samp is looking around at options. What I do not understand is his reluctance to pick natural laterals. One of the most important parts of the modern game. Gomez picked and dropped had at least a chance to play along with Tagliafico. Bustos never even had the chance. I genuinely would prefer one of these in midfield to provide more solidity when we are going to get hit on a counter.

No Correa. The kid has bags of potential which he is starting to realize. No fear andcan get past his man with just pace if required.

I am pleased for Pezzella. However he has not played for the Viola yet. I was hoping that Berizzo would take him to Sevilla. However given his form over last season and the fact he is more mobile than Fazio I would take him. Still no Musacchio though.

Being a Watford fan don't read too much into the result yesterday. Two offside goals and a trademark Gomes howler. We were fielding our fourth and sixth choice centrebacks due to an injury crisis. No Prodl and Kaboul due to injury and Britos to suspension.

Pezzella played and scored for Fiorentina yesterday.

Dybala with 3 sumptuous goals today.

Those dybala goals are ridiculous. I don't even think messi is capable of that.

Huh? Not only has he played for La Viola, but he scored a goal for them yesterday...

As for him going to Sevilla, considering he was playing for their city rivals Real Betis, it was never going to happen. Pezzella for me is a top class player who never got a fair shake at River.

I was hoping to see Lo Celso get called up but ah well I guess ill have to live with Banega not tracking and leaving spaces wide open for opposition counters.

Hopefully Nacho Fernandez gets a look when the local squad is announced. That midfield desperately needs a change.

From Ardilles , Batista, Maradona, Redondo , Veron, Aimar, Riquelme ... Argentina used to dominate the midfield even when they didnt win the game, they never looked outclassed and always created many chances and had no problem with ball possession. Now, they look like low table team.

I just hope against Peru, Dybala, Messi , Aguero or Icardi can come up with one or two magics that they showed already this season in their respective club. Sometimes even a good teamplay isnt enough but we do need those magic moment too. For some reason these guys arent capable to pulling those stuff in NT. In desperate moment, they should be capable of pulling it if they're really a champion material.

It would be total injustice for Messi if Argentina fail to qualify. Most of his underachievement can be blamed on AFA. From not paying manager (Tata) to picking someone like Diego and Bauza as a coach.

Imagine Argentina isnt on next WC while the likes of Dybala, Messi , Aguero and Icardi are most popular players on the planet, scoring countless goals. In fact this season is shaping to be the best season for those guys. 3 of our forwards hit a hattrick in a week and they cant scored once in NT:whistling:

I just hope Sampa can sort out the NT problem quickly and build a good chemistry like Sabella did. Although its also unfair to judge Sampa for the current situation since he took over near the end of qualifier while Sabella took over in the beginning of the qualifer.

Icardi also on scoresheet again, scoring an equalizer.

The best way to beat us is just to sit back and give us the ball and counter. Our midfield is slow to react and defense can be even slower. Not to mention the attack in the midfield is non-existent with muerto's like Biglia*(Who I kid you not is loved by the Milan supporters and the Italian journalists who say his composure and ability to pass the ball is similar to Pirlo. I've gotta ask @Milan05, you see Biglia play week and week out, how is he so bad for us and good for Milan?).

We need to simply score first and early. The longer the game is 0-0 the pressure will build for us and the nerves of the defenders and especially our GK in Romero who is bound for a big error in every match he plays. Sampa has emphasized the importance of scoring early.

If Gareca does, in fact, come in and decides to play open this could be problematic for Peru. I think Peru knows coming into Argentina and getting a draw is almost as good as a win. Being on the cusp of making the World Cup for the first time in 36 years is something I do not feel will be risked by playing an open game against us.

    ---------------------------------------------

A report from Biglia's performance over the weekend.

MF Lucas Biglia, 8 -- Makes it all look so simple and effortless, Milan have finally found their answer in central midfield. Biglia was sharp and accurate with his passing, as he kept his side ticking throughout and worked hard off the ball. He does leave a pocket of space behind him at times, which could be exploited by the top sides, but the positives undoubtedly outweigh that negative.

    I am baffled by this.

Not to mention Papu Gomez has been on fire; the same goes for Angel Correa who has contributed to 3 goals and had 1 assist in the 5 games he has played.

I know he(Correa) was called up under Bauza and has yet to be recalled by Sampa but I hope Sampa follows him and perhaps gives him a call-up for friendlies or even play-off(That is of course if we even go). He has blistering speed and runs at defenders effortlessly. He has loads of potential and could be a rising star. I just worry about his IQ from the times I have seen him in the past, he had the tendency to be a headless chicken. But being so young, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Well this is true. However, there are many occassions where we managed to get an early goal or late late goal like against Belgium or Switzerland. In fact we beat Peru in 2010 qualifier with last second goal. So I dont think Peru will just sit back the entire game. Without a goal, they can lose 3 points at any time whenever we score.
