I don't buy that - they built their side around Rooney, and that caused them all sorts of problems in attack. Rooney constantly gave the ball away, clearly lacks the speed to take advantage of the positions he gets into and is never in the position you'd expect him to be as a teammate (lots of crosses into the box while he's roaming around). Everton's collapse had nothing to do with removing Rooney - United piling on has been a feature this season, and it began with that awful pass by Ashley Williams. Rooney had nothing to do with that.
Yeah Williams is washed up I still don't rate Lukaku This is a purple patch vs some awful teams and sidesnout of form Lets see what he does vs good sides and in the cl
Building your team around an aging star with a substance abuse problem is a hell of a concept. This was the reason SAF leaked for canning Rooney in the first place. Off radar boozing at his house and turning up hungover at the start of the week. Since that time we've seen him trashed on england duty, and now this. Clearly he is not in control of his drinking, with predictable results for his career. But the fairytale!
Rory Smith's article about Chelsea (compared to Arsenal) in today's Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/18/sports/soccer/chelsea-arsenal-premier-league.html?_r=0 Which ends with this...
11 League Cup games today. At halftime, 3 of them had goals. Can we just scrap this tournament already?
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain Victory Tour of Champions steams on! Liverpool FC 4 Arsenal 0* (was far and away Liverpool's BEST player ensuring victory, while somehow playing in an Arsenal shirt Manchester City 5 LFC 0 LFC 2 Sevilla 2 LFC 1 Burnley 1 Leicester City 2 LFC 0 PLAYED 5 Won: 0 Drawn: 2 Lost 3 GF: 3 GA: 14 UNLEASH the OX !
Don't know if I'm happy that Pool lost or sad that they now have fewer games to play over the course of the season.
Fotmob commentary on Ox: 6': ...cross finds Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain but his shot is blocked on the edge of the six-yard box. 18': Oxlade-Chamberlain is played in down the right-hand side and the England international seems to get caught in two minds. His cross come shot is too strong and the ball flies out for a goal-kick. FT: Oxlade-Chamberlain was poor for the full 90 minutes. That's it. Thanks, Liverpool.
We made out like bandits and no one will every want to do business with us every again. "60mil for Sanchez, but what if he is another Chamberlain?"
That play today where he was actually in MF and tried to switch play and the ball went 20 feet above the players head into the stands that was classic ox REISS NELSON !!!! Bring on the Savior

“ like the rugby player kicking it into touch “ My favorite one was comparing him to Mascherano and trying to convert into a defensive midfielder already The wizard of OX “ if I only had a brain “
i hate stupid articles. if one friggin' game makes the damn season, we would have been champions a whole bunch of years running. and, yeah, great point about last year's 3-0 win. which meant oh-so-much.
LMAO that article is absurd. Just one other example of "organic" core is Ballack - only the most talented german midfielder of his generation acquired at the end of Roman's initial peak transfer muppetry. So yeah - if you can recruit Ballack to your "organic core" you'll have a tenacious winner - yet he is a guy most associated with losing
