DCUSA is right. Ben has come out of his shell with the recent additions and changed his tactics. He's more aggressive, but he's still doing a lousy job of putting the right people in the right place and assigning them the proper roles.

It won't change their thinking one bit. They still will plan to sell the Real Estate as soon as the contractually can.

Olsen is worse than every coach fired this year. I'm sure at least one other coach better than him will be fired before the smoke clears as well.

I can remember matches where Olsen was outcoached, but I can't remember matches where he obviously outcoached his opponent.

Both of them are crap. Neither is better than Olsen. Olsen has his flaws. Heaps has been crap for years. Pablo was in over his head.

Statistically and in terms of entertainment on the field Heaps has a slight edge on Olsen. I've shown this empirically.

At this rate it would take like 25 years of decent seasons for Olsen to statistically recover from the hole he is in

Heaps and Olsen have their similarities: both were feisty (i.e., borderline dirty) players; both had some successful seasons and some poor seasons; both report(ed) to cheap owners who were loath to invest in quality (i.e., expensive) players; and both play in crap stadiums. The difference is we will play in a genuine soccer-specific stadium next year with some hope that the ownership will use the positive cash flow to purchase more difference makers to go with the new guys they picked up this year. As for NE, who knows? And when Benny looks at the similarities between his record and Heaps' he should thank his lucky stars he works for DC United.

The first game against Atlanta that we won 3-1 or 4-1 on the road the Atlanta coach was really stupid. He threw all of his players forward in the attack and put no high pressure on us once we intercepted the ball. It was a classic counter attacking game. I could almost hear Olsen asking not to be thrown into the briar patch. It's not so much Olsen doing anything special though. He just did what he's always done, but it was better than what Atlanta did from a coaching standpoint.

Jay Heaps did have a strong stretch between 2013 and 2015. Three straight years in playoffs. That's something Ben has not achieved. Dom Kinnear had an even longer stretch of success in Houston. I think these two have a valid argument to be rated above Ben.

On the other hand I would take Ben over Onalfo, Mastroeni or Cassar.

Sorry the statistics argument does not fly with me. I can provide you with valid statistical data that says that Hitler was a great man. He was not but I can give you numbers supporting that argument.

Heaps was cow dung plain and simple. He was out coached on a regular basis. Even by Olsen. Sorry Heaps never cut it for me.

Oh and we have proven the Onalfo is way worse that Ben on his worst day. Cassar is just as bad.

Pablo as I said was in over his head tactically.

So I'm definitely projecting that we will not resign Deshorn Brown. Just doesn't make sense for a team that is starving for big goal production. Which opens the door for a DP striker signing. And I hope that it finally sinks in to management that you need a DP at this position. Every other MLS team has one. And it's true that scorers don't come cheap. But with the Arriola move, they have proven that they are willing to spend up to around 3 mil, and that still gets you something in the market. I made a list of the best strikers that went this past window between 1 and 3 million. I narrowed it down to only players between 20 and 30 because I hope we continue the trend from the last window when we only added players in their primes. I also narrowed it down to only strikers over 5'10 because you can't play short strikers in a league like MLS. So this is the caliber of player we could have gotten this summer with Arriola type money. A little later this offseason I'll make a similar list looking forward to the winter window.

    1) Florian Niederlechner - Germany - 26 - 6'1. Mainz to Freiburg for 2.3 mil. Definitely the biggest steal in the market. Had 11 goals in Bundesliga last year.

    2) Duje Cop - Croatia - 28 - 6'0. Cagliari to Standard Liege for 3 mil. Scored 9 goals in La Liga for Sporting Gijon last year. 10 caps and 2 goals for Croatia NT.

    3) Giovanni Sio - Ivory Coast - 28 - 5'11. Rennes to Montpellier for 2.2 mil. Scored 9 goals in Ligue 1 last year with Rennes. Has 3 goals in 20 caps for Ivory Coast.

    4) Samuel Armenteros - Sweden - 27 - 5'10. Heracles Almelo to Benevento for 2 mil. Scored 19 goals in Dutch Eredivisie last year. Two caps and one goal this year for Sweden NT.

    5) Stefan Kutschke - Germany - 28 - 6'4. Nürnberg to Ingolstadt for 1.5 mil. Scored 16 goals for Dynamo Dresden in Bundesliga 2 last year.

    6) Fernando Zampedri - Argentina - 29 - 6'1. Atletico Tucuman to Rosario Central for 2.2 mil. Scored 11 goals in Argentine first division last year with Atletico Tucuman. Also had 5 goals in 9 games in Copa Libertadores

    7) Danny Ward - England - 26 - 5'11. Rotherham to Cardiff City for 1.8 mil. Scored 11 goals for Rotherham in the Championship last year.

    8) Massimo Coda - Italy - 28 - 6'0. Salernitana to Benevento for 1.7 mil. Scored 16 goals in Serie B last year with Salernitana.

    9) Anthony Lozano - Honduras - 24 - 6'0. Olimpia to Barcelona B for 1.5 mil. He scored 10 goals in each of the last two seasons in Spain's 2nd division with Tenerife. He also has 7 goals in 25 appearances for Honduras NT.

    10) Jason Cummings - Scotland - 22 - 5'10. Hibernian to Nottingham Forest for 1.1 mil. Scored 19 goals in Scottish Premier League last year with Hibs.

    11) Pieros Sotiriou - Cyprus - 24 - 6'1. APOEL to Copenhagen for 2.5 mil. Scored 16 goals in Cypriot league and an additional 5 goals in Europa league last season. Also has 23 caps for Cyprus.

    12) Idriss Saadi - Algeria - 25 - 6'1. Cardiff City to Strasbourg for 1.5 mil. Scored 14 goals in Belgian 1st division last year with Kortrijk. Got 2 caps for Algeria this year.

    13) Uros Djurdjevic - Serbia - 23 - 6'0. Partizan to Olympiacos for 2.5 mil. Scored 24 goals last year in Serbian league for Partizan Belgrade.

    14) Zinho Gano - Belgium - 23 - 6'4. Beveren to Oostende for 2.2 mil. Scored 11 goals last season with Beveren in Belgian league.

    15) Albian Ajeti - Switzerland - 20 - 6'0. Augsburg to St. Gallen for 1 mil. Scored 10 goals for St. Gallen last year in Swiss league.

    16) Baptiste Guillaume - Belgium - 22 - 6'2. Lille to Angers for 2 mil. Scored 9 goals in Ligue 2 last year for Strasbourg's promotion.

    17) Kirill Panchenko - Russia - 27 - 6'1. CSKA to Dinamo Moscow for 1.8 mil. Scored 24 goals in Russian 2nd division for Dinamo's promotion. Got called up to Russian NT last year.

So as you can see, to get an in form striker in his prime you have to think outside the box a little bit. You're not going to get an in form striker from one of the top leagues for under 3 mil. This list includes players from Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Scotland etc ... But that's pretty typical for a top MLS striker. Just look around the league. Ola Kamara came from Norwegian league. Fanendo Adi came from Danish league. Bradley Wright Phillips came from the Championship. Nemanja Nikolic came from Polish league. It is what it is ... Just have to show some interest to go scout these players and make it happen.

I really think that you're drawing far too much inference from 2 games that were pretty much lost early and the opponents were coasting. What you're doing here is sharpening the ax in anticipation of felling the oaks that will grow from the acorns you planted yesterday, Too soon to call it a trend sir, too soon,

the club needs a revival and no better time than now.
unfortunately, i think that starts with Olsen and whoever's left in operations getting the boot.
We managed to bring in some good talent towards the end, but the team needs a lot of work. It might be time to try someone else's hand at running the team. Let Olsen stay on in some way if he would like.

Now of course, you don't necessarily have to spend a transfer fee. I'll also make a list of in form strikers who will be out of contract within the next 12 months ... most of them next summer. Same parameters, 20-30 years old, over 5'10 and not currently injured. I'll put them in order from most desirable and expensive/

    1) Vincent Aboubakar - Cameroon - 25 - 6'0. Market value 10 mil. Scored 12 goals in Turkish league last year with Besiktas. Also 3 in Champions League and 3 in Europa League. Has 19 goals in 62 caps for Cameroon NT

    2) Mark Uth - Germany - 26 - 6'1. Market value 5 mil. Scored 7 goals in Bundesliga last year for Hoffenheim.

    3) Facundo Ferreyra - Argentina - 26 - 6'1. Market value 4 mil. Scored 14 goals in Ukrainian league last season with Shakhtar Donetsk. Also 3 goals in Europa league.

    4) Jordan Hugill - England - 25 - 6'0. Market value 3 mil. Scored 12 goals last season in English Championship with Preston North End.

    5) Gerard Gohou - Ivory Coast - 28 - 6'0. Market value 2.5 mil. Scored 18 goals in Kazakh league with Kairat Almaty last season. Also 3 goals in Europa League.

    6) Julio Tavares - Cape Verde - 28 - 6'2. Market value 2 mil. Scored 9 goals last year in Ligue 1 with Dijon.

    7) Mehdi Taremi - Iran - 25 - 6'1. Market value 2 mil. Scored 18 goals last season with Persepolis in Iranian league. Also scored 7 goals in Asian Champions League. Has 10 goals in 21 caps for Iran.

    8) Raul Becerra - Chile - 29 - 6'2. Market value 1.6 mil. Scored 19 goals in Ecuadorian league last year with Deportivo Cuenca.

    9) Kleber - Brazil - 27 - 6'1. Market value 1.5 mil. Scored 8 goals last season in Portuguese league with Estoril Praia.

    10) Michal Krmencik - Czech Republic - 24 - 6'2. Market value 1.5 mil. Scored 10 goals last season in Czech league with Viktoria Plzen. Also 1 goal in Champions League, and 1 in Europa League. Also has 8 caps within the last year with 4 goals for Czech NT.

    11) Igor Sergeev - Uzbekistan - 24 - 6'1. Market value 1.5 mil. Has 9 goals this season in Uzbek league with Pakhtakor Tashkent. Also has 10 goals in 42 caps for Uzbek NT

    12) Artem Besyedin - Ukraine - 21 - 6'1. Market value 1.5 mil. Had 9 goals in Ukrainian league last season with Dynamo Kyev. Already has 4 caps for Ukraine with 1 goal.

    13) Jo Inge Berget - Norway - 27 - 6'1. Market value 1.4 mil. Has 8 goals this season with Malmo, and 1 in Champions League. Has 19 caps for Norway NT.

    14) Fiodor Cernych - Lithuania - 26 - 5'11. Market value 1.35 mil. Had 12 goals in Polish league last season with Jagiellonia Bialystok. 8 goals in 33 caps for Lithuania.

    15) Tomi Juric - Australia - 26 - 6'2. Market value 1.25 mil. Scored 8 goals last season with Luzern in Swiss league. Has 8 goals in 28 caps for Australia.

    16) Franck Ohandza - Cameroon - 25 - 5'10. Market value 1.1 mil. Scored 8 goals for Hajduk Split in Croatian league last season, and 3 in Europa League

    17) Taha Yassine Khenissi - Tunisia - 25 - 6'0. Market value 1 mil. Scored 14 goals in Tunisian league last season with ES Tunis. Also 6 goals in African Champions League. Also has 5 goals in 20 caps for Tunisia.

    18) Lee Gregory - England - 29 - 6'2. Market value 1 mil. Scored 17 goals last season for Millwall in League One.

As you can see the international free agent list is pretty thin for the "in prime" age range. The last few names on this list might not even be DP level. That's just the way things go. In form strikers don't stay in limbo too long. They either get re-signed to longer contracts with their current clubs, or they get bought.

I doubt we'll hear any rumors about that until after the season ends. If he's going to leave, we'll probably know by mid December. If he's not re-signed by then, it means that he's at least going to test the January waters. I just hope that he makes a better decision than Kitchen who stayed on the market well into February. Mid table Scottish and Danish clubs are not a step up for an MLS starter. In fact it's a pretty good way to play yourself out of the NT picture.

Could be, but it's different to me. Minnesota went up big and still United couldn't grab the ball. You'd think a crap team with a big lead would sit comfortably, but DC still couldn't hold it.
I have to acknowledge score effects come into play, particularly against Chicago when United had the ball almost the entire second half. The difference to me is before the transfers, it made no difference, they were inept regardless. Not so now.
I admit, I want to see it and I want to believe it, but numbers are trending towards a more possession style, not to mention the team's play.

You need to fill the vacant scouting role for the team. It is obvious that no one currently scouts.
