if Josie & Almuth were in, the Czechs might of won! lol I'm afraid this time the team lacked creativity ~~~ Germany's best played last week at Freiburg with Simic, Magull & Kayicki leading the way

As long as the DFB continues down this path of apathy, the senior German wnt is basically irrelevant within the world of elite international women's football...

This team is just a few more matches from leaving the plateau of end time Neid era mediocrity, down towards the even harder to escape realm of plain substandard.

And should they finally hit realm of substandard, believe me when I say... this group will probably accomplish the farce of failing to escape a WC group stage.

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing too lol... this knowing we've all just been recently able to witness Magull and Simic dominate a Bayern a mid-field featuring Leupolz and Däbritz.

But it's Magull who's a long term resident of Jones bench, while Däbritz remains a consistent starter lol. And this coming from somebody who genuinely believes Däbritz to be a quality player if used correctly.

was thinking maybe the Czech team was that good, but earlier this year they lost s game to Hungary & got blown out by Italy, 1-5.

    It's hard to believe it was the same lineup that played just a few days before but came up with so little chemistry. But here's a question;
arguably the most experienced player on the field, Simone Laudehr, decided a couple of solo runs/ But it was the only after her team was barely able to make a shot during the first 30 minutes of play. Do you think it was correct for Simone to make those solo runs? Or you think it was selfish of her?

Simone should be the captain of this team. I've read tho some places that fans want Babs to captain this team lol

only thing i liked yesterday was that Maier wasn't subbed out for Blässe, meaning that Jones might intend to settle Maier as the first choice RB?? now you're coming to correct me, batfink

seriously why not play Demann at CB where she plays for Bayern and Hendrich in midfield where she plays for Frankfurt - why change their positions at the NT?? In the NT games I've seen, Demann's looking better at her CB position than in midfield

Again, and again, and again, I keep repeating this... Jones doesn't know the players/options within the national pool.

Starting with Marozsan - Demann in the latest match, then changing in the second half to Demann - Däbritz, before ending the game with Demann - Kemme...; she'll soon be 15 matches into this job and she believes this is the best way to handle things lol.

See, I stupidly believed Markus Högner was the one to be the real brains of the operation, with Jones simply functioning as a pleasant media friendly PC figurehead for the DFB, showcasing just how progressive they are towards the idea of producing elite level female coaches. But yeah... I was really wrong lol.

I mean the DFB's allowing Silvia Neid to stick around as a senior team scout, supposedly helping the program by identifying new players and tactical trends to help advance the progression of the senior team LOL. How are they moving forward by doing any of this..?

Yes, she probably should. But seeing how the new captain's talents are wasted in this team, why would it be any different for Laudher?
LOL, I don't need to correct you... the fact Blässe was even brought into the match for Laudher was the only point requiring any form of correcting, and you had no role to play in that happening.
Jones won't drop Peter, and this being part of a scenario where I still believe she's going to bring Henning back into the starting 11.

Remember this is the same coach who previously used Maier as a CM, Simon as a AM, just to allow Blässe and Kerschowski to start in the teams two FB roles; because, you know... experience.

Jones took this kind of ill-judged bias to another level calling Wedemeyer (a player I actually like) into the senior team, not having started a single match for Wolfsburg in MONTHS, but won't look at somebody like Schone because... reasons..?

I heard in an interview with Jones that she's talked to the players not called up for this squad and they know which position they are in for the NT - I would've thought she was done with Henning... I mean she subbed her out against Italy in the Euro's and then Gössling got her place against Russia and against Denmark in the KO round without barely playing the whole season lol, can't it be clearer for Steffi to give up on Henning now??

Seriously, Steffi is the female version of Roy Hodgson not knowing her team at all and biased towards the biggest clubs (Wolfsburg and Bayern). In term of skills there should only be 2 players on the NT from Wolfsburg: Gössling and Popp.

just noticed, he is available, story below
    https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...viour-by-a-coach-during-time-at-bristol-city/

Sampson is a master strategist, Which I guess is a 360 degree reversal of Jones! But with fresh accusations, his career is pretty much over. Another choice might be French sacked Echoufni . He only lost 1 in 16 games, That was o England where all his top players were missing due to injury or cards/
I guess it's the wind these days to hire more women coaches but in the case of Jones, she proved once again(vs the Czech) what a terrible coach she is, plus Germans seem to loosing interest in the women's NT as barely 3000 showed up for the last home game vs Hungary. it's hard to believe out of the big 3 powers in woso, Jones is still around while the other two are sacked

me & you are usually the same wave links, but not this time! There was one play where Simone dribbled the ball up from deep on her own side to all the way up to the Czech pk line. Had a couple of team mates wide open, instead took the shot herself, which bounced harmlessly off an Czech defender.

in my book, it could of mean't several things

    A) she felt she had the momentum to carry her solo(but her final shot looked very amateurish)

    B) she just was very selfish

    C) she dislikes her team mates(or at least their abilities) not to have passed it

if it's B or C, then I don't think that would make her very good captain material

I don't remember any team mates wide open, but I remember Kemme to the left of her no one really covering her - I think if she passed there, Kemme would've stopped and the Czechs would be back. I always rooted for Simone to go for it there because that's lacking in this German team where everyone's passing the ball and it goes too slow with them going forward, I miss a player who can challenge 1 vs 1. I don't view Simone to be a selfish player in general, and don't think C's the case here. You can call it poor decision making by Simone that moment maybe.

Peter's experience in tournaments tho: okay a regular starter as LB as far back as 2009. LB in the world cup 2011 ending in a failure. Injured in 2013. Sub in 2015 where she played against France and gave away the ball to Necib, leading to 1-0. Total failure partnering Bartusiak in the Bronze medal match against England where I remember England had a lot of great chances. 2016 Olympics did she even play any games then? Not in the KO stages if I remember correct. Euro 2017: her first tournament as a regular starter as a CB and it ended with a historical loss against Denmark lol. I haven't once seen Peter stepping up her game and take her chances (because she's not better than decent hmmm....) in the latest tournaments so why is she so loved by Jones. She will be 31 at the next world cup and i highly doubt her game will become better

keeping an experienced veteran like Peter at CB seems to be norm for most of the other NT's as well. Would of liked to see Elsig in there this time though, but Jojo got her pro's & cons as well. She's phenom/superb on air balls, excellent passer especially with long passes & a real bruiser. But the latter might just hurt her on an NT that likes to mirror up it's image.

Here's a question than for you(since you are female) got the feeling England's new coach is going to be female too. Since we've seen now a number of NT's switch to female coaches of the last couple of years[question] Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

you mean for the other top teams or just in general?? like Renard and Houghton are veterans but they are great. I don't care if she's a bruiser, her skills as a player should help her being a regular player on this German team

I'm male lol :p But hey, I'm feminist so it doesn't bother me, I like to see women coaches except from Jones who's a total mess

LOL, and here's the real critical flaw to the current player selection stance taken by Jones... as you mention other teams have names like Renard and Houghton as their "experienced" defensive options; these being players who've actually stood out as legitimate world class/very good talents at the highest levels of the sport throughout their entire careers.

Peter has NEVER been a world class defender.. ever! A good LB and reliable CB yes, but Peter's never produced any kind of form at the highest levels of the sport to the standard showcased by Elsig whenever playing CB for Potsdam last season.

I mean at club and international levels, we now see increasing numbers of converted CB's who've also excelled in other positions on the field, making the reasoning behind Germany ignoring potential international CB's like Elsig - Demann - Hendrich truly suspect given their clear technical and athletics advantages.

Even at club level Peter's completely overshadowed by Fischer's superior abilities to stabilize the defense. Fischer of course being a former long time rough/aggressive DM who was eventually converted to being a world class CB... hmmm, and this sounds familiar...

Isn't it more important to have a good coach who knows the national program...? Plus given the current numbers of elite female coaches within the sport globally, the idea a woman is now the only/best option to improve most of these programs in the future is honestly ridiculous, no?

See, just looking at this from the perspective of the DFB, knowing the huge amounts of money they've spent on cultivating elite level coaching throughout their nation, I don't see how it's fair to the wnt to see a complete novice like Jones gain accelerated progress, just so the DFB can continue a hollow tradition of their women's program having all female head coaches.

The instant Maren Meinert (the undisputed #1 female coach within the DFB) said no to the senior job, the DFB should have done the right thing for their wnt, and hired the best next possible head coaching option, no matter their gender.

However, seeing Markus Högner's become the assistant coach of the wnt, leads me to believe somebody within the DFB's already fully aware of the long term handicap they've potentially imposed on themselves.

So if the bad performances continue (they probably will..) and Meinert still says no to the head coaching role in future, I can't see how the DFB doesn't open their women's program to more male influence, when the other options to take over the senior team will likely remain so slim.

Doing quick research.... Meinert and Weigamann run the U-20's. 2 women oversee the U-17's, with a still suspect Anouschka Bernhard the latest head coach. 3 women oversee the U-16's, with Silvia Neid's long time deputy Ulrike Ballweg being their head coach. Leaving 2 women overseeing the newly revamped U-15's, with Bettina Wiegamann head coach.

And then you look at the league... Carmen Roth (SV Werder Bremen) and Katja Greulich (FF USV Jena) are the only female names in the top division, with former short time senior team assistant Verena Hagedorn being the only other female name I can think of to hold a major role at the highest levels of women's football in Germany.

Meinert, Weigamann, Ballweg. These are the only credible wnt head coach options I can see here, and all three seem to have zero desire to leave their current roles overseeing the junior teams.

Why is even Peter a regular CB for Wolfsburg these days? Why not play Wedemeyer more... at least maybe against "weaker" opponents in the Bundesliga, even there you cleary see that Peter struggles lol. Must have a pretty close relationship with Jones (Jones hugging her after subbing her out against Slovenia lol).

There's a lot of talent in Germany and a lot of players that I like. Given my close relationship with Germany it's annoying to see the talent in the team wasted

See, I have no idea why Jones doesn't even wanna try Hendrich/Elsig/Demann together for 90 minutes in these NT games when there's 2 ********ing years to the world cup - instead the time is wasted on Peter slowing the team down. She's got her chances and not taken them, give someone else a chance
