I hear Don Ovan will be getting his coaching credentials by the end of this year. It should fit the Revs perfectly.
Bob Kraft has almost nothing to do with the Revs. It has been this way for 20 years. His son, Jonathan Kraft, is the person who deals with all MLS stuff. Jonathan supposedly likes the sport but you can tell he has no passion for it. But Blanc has shown us you don't need to have passion for the sport, you need in invest wisely both off and on the field. The Kraft's policy is to only invest with profit. They do not believe in an invest to grow strategy. And since the Revs hover around break even, nothing ever changes. And it is MUCH worse off the field than on where the Revs are falling further and further behind the rest of the league in terms of infrastructure and facilities.

Those Revs teams from the mid 2000s were talented. I would think Ralston could be a good option. If they coaching certification, Joseph and/or Dorman might not be bad. Personally, I think Michael Parkhurst might be a really good coach if he ever considers it after retiring.
Hah. Voters approved a ballot initiative to legalize it in 2016 by a 53-46 margin. However, the state legislature is doing everything it can to delay, diminish, and roll back implementation.
The Rapids have already been out there. They expect to be interviewing candidates next month with a goal of a hire before MLS Cup. César Farías was apparently in attendance at the Dick on Saturday. He's recently left his position as manager of The Strongest.
I'd forgotten their current coach is an interim assignment. (Not to be confused with temporary, like Sigi.) But like most people I forget a lot about the Rapids.
You can read about this a lot more over onthe Revs forum, but the general consensus among most fans is that this was long overdue. This should have happened at the end of last year, but he had another year on his contract, so no can do! Can't be paying two coaches! Think about it--has there ever been a coach who has been around long enough to lose 81 games with the same club? OK, maybe Alex Ferguson did in his 30 years at Man U, but who's counting. The problem lies with the Kraft organization as a whole. Bob Kraft doesn't even know he has a team, Sonny Kraft is all about the bottom line. Sonny's kids are young adults now, and grew up around the Revs, but who knows how they'll turn out. The running joke is that the Krafts are "savvy businessmen," and the Revs have been modestly profitable since about year 5, and increasing in value. But the current stewards don't seem to realize how much more money they could be making if they did things half as well as Toronto, Atlanta or Seattle, or any of a dozen reasonably competent organizations. Even if they wanted to be a "moneyball" team, that would work, but you have to have people in charge who know how to evaluate talent. In other news, Mike Burns revealed that he just "got permission" to hire a full-time scout. yay. Moneyball teams develop players through their academy and invest in their D2 Reserve teams, none of which the Revs do. They are terrible at developing young players, and their "system" is to let the coach find the players he wants, and then Burns tries to sign them to contracts that "make sense for the club." Good luck with that. The only hope for this team would be if Kraft were to sell, which isn't going to happen any time soon. Replace Heaps, but who's gonna take the job? Someone else who will come cheap and be willing to work under no-win conditions. That is why we Rev fans have resigned ourselves to merely being unwilling passengers on a runaway train to doom and anihilation, where brief spasms of joy are only there to point out the total hopelessness of all human endeavor.
Wow you sound like a San Jose Earthquakes fan! Thanks for spelling it out so clearly. My emphatic sympathies!
I can dig it. Oh, and from today's (9/21) News Thread: MLS Closeup: Heaps' firing opens up inquiry of Revs' future SA “Over the last few hours, the number of e-mails, texts, phone calls and resumes that I’ve received, both domestically and internationally, has changed a little bit from six years ago,” Burns told revolutionsoccer.net. “There’s a lot more interest and intrigue internationally than there was even six years ago, from a coaching standpoint and from a player standpoint.” Please tell me Burns is not surprised by this.
Well, we'll see if any international managers with any experience and pedigree are still interested after they do some due dillegence...
Even Dr. Seuss is weighing in on the Heaps firing: I do not like that Robert Kraft He runs the team as if he’s daft He really, really loves the Pats But treats the Revs as they were rats Let’s take a look at all the coaches Of the team he treats like roaches Stapo was an Irish star But he couldn’t even start the car Thomas Rongen was our man If he can’t do it, no one can! Rongen couldn’t, that’s for sure His replacement was not the cure Zenga was our biggest name Too bad the man was barely sane Fernando could not hear the drums His tactics, frankly, were quite dumb By ’02 we were in a pickle So they brought in Stevie Nicol Things were great for a while But MLS Cup never made us smile I don’t want to sound too didactic After a while he had poor tactics There wasn’t much to really fear-a “Yue jus gut tae look inna mirra” Nicol eventually was shown the door Cause his last results were really poor What you sow is what you reap And that’s what brought us Coach Jay Heaps Who cares what the pundits say He’s got a reference from Coach K Experience is over rated Said a model I once dated All that “rah-rah” stuff won’t work When your players think you’re a jerk Kraft is really, really cheap From the press you won’t hear a peep We don’t know who our next coach will be If it’s up to Kraft, he’d work for free It won’t be someone with a name Or a guy who knows the game It doesn’t matter how this turns We’ve put our faith in Mike Burns! Mikey’s here to save the day! He always knows just what to say Five steps ahead of all the others He’s smarter than my senile mother Near-post Burnsie cannot fail The team’s already in the garbage pail It’s a sad story, all in all But Kraft will never take the fall Dad, or Sonny or the rest The Revs will never be the best Although some think he’s really strange Bobby Kraft will never change Fans complain and really holler They worship the almighty dollar I know the job is really tough But “good enough” is good enough!
Burns and Bilello have said that Hat Trick Rick is on their short list. They were impressed how he used his hands the way Coach K would have approved of.
Disagree with this statement. He may not have been passionate, but from what I hear the game has endeared itself to good ole Arthur. Sounds similiar to Uncle Phil. Yes, they are sound businessman who were looking to invest and saw the opp, but they also became emotionally involved with the game to an extent. Is it their first love? Nope....but they have definitely become soccer fans....when soccer was never really part of their youth or adult lives. Whether these individuals show it ouwardly, or do it publically is irrelevant. To succeed in the sport entertainment industry, especially soccer in this age.....you better damn have the passion, will and commitment. It's what makes them good at what they do. Arthur is emotionally involved, and in a much different way then the Falcons. This is more "youthful" and new. We are lucky to have him. From what I have heard his grandkids are all soccer fans first. The stories I have heard about Arthur and soccer stems from him watching their games and really enjoying it. It may not be fanatical supporters group passion, I played the game passion, but it is amazing how passionate you can become about something when you see your kids and grand kids care deeply about something. Now the Krafts.....cold, distant and businesslike. Agreed. It shows.
Maybe it was calculated and maybe it wasn't, but Blank made some early indications that Atlanta United was on his mind, like wearing an AUFC pin on his suit even to some Falcons-related business, and planning on drop curtains rather than tarps to maintain atmosphere with a reduced capacity. Then he backed it up with spending; not just on one name player, but on actual scouting and local development. He's put effort into studying how to run a soccer team and it shows.
LOL....on cue I just saw this. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017...sion-success-proving-naysayers-were-all-wrong
