I just got Rosie White's The Women Behind; The Beautiful Game 2017 Calender in the mail. It is pretty great.

Rosie did the photography - see her Blog. The Monthly calendar grid is superimposed on each of the 12 photos, which is different than I expected, but has a nice style/look. The paper stock is heavy and each month's grid is about 8.5x12 (landscape).

The players are world-wide, not just New Zealand.

    http://www.whiterosenewzealand.com/WhiteRoseBlog.html has all 19+ players.

    fourfourtwo article about the draft

Howard Megdal sat inside the Breakers brain trust during their planning session the day before the draft.

Billiard has soccer in his blood, and the natural consequence of such an affliction is a desire to run a soccer team, but only since November has Billiard graduated from the business side of the Breakers to an operational role. He and Beard spoke as one, and it was easy to hear in their new partnership a continuity that the Breakers sorely need, while a lack of that single vision contributed to several years of disappointing finishes.

Argh... After an offseason filled with almost all good news so far, a knock: Libby Stout will likely miss the first few weeks of the season with a sprained ankle.

Breakers over BC in closed door scrimmage 5-1. Adriana Leon had 3 goals. I liked her hustle in the 2016 pre-season with the Flash. As things turned out, I can see why she ended up at the cold end of Paul Riley's bench. I hope her move to FC Zürich Frauen in August enhanced her game and her confidence and that Matt Beard finds a significant role for her.

    Also, a Tiff Weimer article:

    I loved this:
If Weimer had to be stranded on an island with a teammate forever, who would she choose? “Easy,” she said. “Angela Salem. Cause she’s a survivor. She’s a fighter. She won’t let us die. I know she won’t.”

Rose Lavelle looked really strong in the first half on Sunday and Abby Smith was impressive. Midge Purce was also fun with her little move working again and again. Crowd size was disappointing especially on such a beautiful day. Or maybe the surprising fact is that last year's crowd's didn't fall off. What do other's think?

I'd say it's definitely disappointing. The Breakers have been bad for so long now, you wouldn't think that would have affected it. Hopefully, it was just because there was a Bruins playoff game at the same time (and a Celtics playoff game too, but at least that was away), and it will bounce back for the next home game.

Lavelle is going to her graduation while the club is up the road in Chicago:

    http://www.uwbadgers.com/news/2017/...er-badgers-boast-unique-graduating-class.aspx

Speaking of hoops, Lavelle has been finishing her degree work in sociology online while competing in the NWSL and raising her profile on the U.S. women's national team.

It would be useful if clubs gave more info on what newly drafted players are going to do for what is usually the final spring semester of college for most. Knowing a player is deferring classes to the fall, commuting between campus and NWSL, not coming into the team until after graduation, etc., helps fans understand who might be available and what roster changes might be coming in the summer.

I agree with the more data request. I feel that way about the programs. Knowing anything about the players- where they went to college, how tall they are, where they grew up- would help fans form an affinity.

I saw a photo of her in the airport, in shorts with a wrap around her thigh, so it looked like a hamstring injury.

Did I hear right that Crystal Dunn has no NWSL team to go back to? How about us, Breakers management?

Breakers midfielder Rose Lavelle out four to six weeks

(June 14, 2017) – The Boston Breakers announced today that midfielder Rose Lavelle will be out four to six weeks after suffering a strained left hamstring during the U.S. Women's National Team match Sunday against Norway.

Lavelle, who scored the lone goal in a 1-0 U.S. win over Sweden on June 8, has six caps for her country. This season with the Breakers, the 22-year-old was named to both the April and May NWSL Team of the Month.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League Draft, Lavelle has two goals and one assist in eight games with the Breakers. She has logged 712 minutes in eight games played in 2017 for Boston.

The Breakers head to North Carolina to take on the Courage Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. They return home June 24 (4 p.m. ET) to host North Carolina. Tickets for all Breakers home games can be purchased by calling 617-945-1704 or by visiting ‪breakerstickets.com.

Dang it. Heal well, Rose. We will miss you every moment of every game.

Is anyone getting the game on Go90? I'm getting a message that the game hasn't started and I know we're already down a goal via twitter.
