What an injury list. The squad list is out, but I have no idea how they plan to set up the defense. At least we know Burnic will not attempt to repeat his performance at left back. This is the first match that is about survival, and we look ill prepared. Well, we're only looking to get a point on the road. Let's hope it comes off. I found it interesting that Julian Green did not make the bench. Not Bundesliga quality or not playing the position as Wolf would like? Sadly, I think it's the former, since his play wasn't effective in BL2, despite his obvious speed. Transfer window is still open, and there are rumors of more signings. Badstuber is available, but Wolf has said he won't throw him or Aogo into the fray immediately. Feel free to take guesses on the back line. I'll start: LB Zimmerman, CB Pavard, CB Onguéné, LB Ailton (probably wrong there, but who's left?)

I just looked on ESPN match tracker, and it's not looking good for VfB. :(

I think it was Kaminski & Pavard as CB, and Ailton & Zimmerman as outside backs.

Now Aogo & Badstuber have come in to replace Ailton & Zimmerman, respectively.

I am curious about any impressions from anyone who actually watched the match.

I watched the first half. I was able to catch it in Spanish (So can't really add any incite from the commentators). The team looked OK in the first half. There were too many squandered passes going forward on the counter though.

You are correct, Kaminski healed in time for this match:

    Zieler
    Zimmermann - Pavard - Kaminski - Ailton
    Mangala - Gentner
    Asano - Akolo - Brekalo
    Terodde

Akolo was playing so high, it looked like a 4-4-2 sometimes.

On the good side, we had better possession. Most most of the match they didn't look likely to score. It makes me more confident that we are BL1 level. I thought Ailton looked good in his first start, but the he got burned right off the start of the 2te halbseit. The second goal was off a corner. I'm still not sure who made the knockdown, but then Gentner couldn't react for the block. On offense, we barely created more than they did. Asano got open a couple of times. Brekalo created one long range effort, and was fouled just outside the box (didn't realize they used video review for this). We don't look helpless, but we need better passing in the box rather than getting stuffed from a bad angle. Also, Terodde just needs more service. I'm still disappointed, because I'm guessing the Hertha is not very good. Also, I won't be able to relax until we get our first win!
