Yes and no. For a lot of sports folks they see Sac as nothing but an eastern extension of the Bay Area. It's part of the Giants and A's markets, it's part of the Niners market (and Raiders for a little longer), it's part of the Sharks market, it's part of the Quakes market. Hell it's even part of the Warriors extended market despite the Kings. That's what I think you're running into with the national types. They don't see much of a distinction between Sac and the extended Bay Area.
And even then (assuming they see Sac as just an extension of the Bay Area), they don't understand or see how big the combined Sac/Bay market is. The NorCal mega market would be the third largest in the US (whether CSA or Nielsen rankings), behind only LA, and a few million larger than Chicago. On a positive note, MLS is aware of this
Sac Soccer Holdings hired a new executive team for the "maybe, possibly" future MLS team, that will be playing in the under construction, but yet to be "formally" announced SSS- ironically, said construction site is the location for this year's STH party this weekend. Them guys are such dreamers!! Here's the link to the hiring. Its behind a paywall. If anyone wants to paste the highlights, it would be much appreciated Sac Soccer announces new executive team with familiar names via @Sacbiz 📰 https://t.co/1bmlLlPSkK— Sacramento Republic FC (@SacRepublicFC) August 17, 2017
I thought about posting this yesterday, but never did. Update: since I sent out this, I've heard from two sources who think that the Republic to MLS is a done deal https://t.co/xeI2yWdyTy— Evan Ream (@EvanReam) August 29, 2017 Yeah, OK.
I am guardedly optomistic. I've set aside some $$$ for season tix, but i've also purchasrd a supply of lithium.
A somewhat morbid thought ... 906238862976004096 is not a valid tweet id Overtown is just behind downtown. There's no stadium anytime soon if Miami is devastated by Monday.
fortunately less morbid reality prevailed, but the people of South Florida appreciate the love and concern.
This hurricane is sad and devastating. I doubt anyone is thinking much about MLS right now. My prayers and thoughts are with everyone!
Yikes, yeah Knave just a tad morbid here.. Miami is devastated, its flooded big time and buildings thrashed. Personally want Miami to lumber along as slow as possible in terms of MLS, but not because of a natural disaster.

I wish I could reveal my source, but I can assure you reprobates that we are definitely getting an MLS franchise. It's a done dealio, dudes.
Yes, our FO knows. They knew well before they had the groundbreaking ceremony, and well before they made those new hires a while back bringing in former Kings people into the organization. It's go time for Sacramento! I'm betting an announcement at MLS Cup this year, after the board meetings there.
Yup. Some day, after everything is said and done, it would be cool for those with "inside contacts" all sit down and compare notes. See how much overlap there is with sources. Maybe we're all talking to the same few people
Keep getting e-mails about season tickets for MLS seating. Pretty hard push, for what it's worth: The number of full Season Tickets you own for the 2018 Republic season equals the number of Season Tickets you will be given the opportunity to own when SRFC enters Major League Soccer play. If you plan on owning more Season Tickets in the MLS stadium than you currently own at Papa Murphy’s Park, those season seats must be added for the 2018 USL season. To add Season Tickets for the 2018 SRFC season and MLS, please CLICK HERE. Please note: SRFC will begin placing full Season Ticket Holders in MLS stadium seating locations during the 2018 SRFC season. Because of this, current Season Ticket Holders will not be given the opportunity to add Season Tickets at the MLS level beyond the 2018 Season Ticket sales period. *Pending MLS announcement

It's cool they have their sponsor lined up, but I'm still thinking MLS can do better than loca heath companies. Lots of teams with health sponsors, why not stuff like car companies, big tech, appliance, new economy (Uber, etc), food or sports companies? It must be chump change for some of those big companies, why not sponsor?
