    Hello.

The fiance and I are planning a trip to Madagascar for 11 days in November. Has anyone here ever been? We like getting waaay off the beaten path. Also, we know next to nothing about the place and are feverishly (re)learning French.

Are there must places that people love to visit or eat whilst travelling there?

One of my friends was in the Peace Corps there and may have some ideas from her initial training in the capital (after that she was waaaaaay out in the boonies). She was there about 6-7 years ago; I could ask if you'd like.

Well we can scratch Madagascar off the list, sadly. A Bubonic plague outbreak is now in the capital of Madagascar. 805 people infected in a 10% mortality rate as of yesterday. I feel for the people of Madagascar that this is happening.

Now we are fighting with Ethiopian Airlines to try to get a refund or change to the ticket. Which they are unwilling to do. Apparently Black Death is not a good enough reason to cancel the tickets. Do not think this is worth the risk of scratching one off the bucket list. So Central America probably as I have lived there for the better part of the 2000s
