Decided to tick off The New Saints ground last Tuesday by attending their 1st qualifying round match verses Europa of Gibraltar. I was mildly surprised by Europa winning 2-1 with a couple of well worked goals either side of Quigley's finish for TNS, which was an absolute belter. It was unusual going to what is a non-league ground and having to sit down due to UEFA regulations, so the entire crowd were in the two temporary stands in one corner of the ground. 🙌 WHAT. A. GOAL!👏 Class from @tnsfc's Scott Quigley! I guessed odds on my new blog at https://evanjsoccer.wordpress.com/2017/07/17/guessing-soccer-odds-1-2017-2018-uefa-champions-league/
A majority of the unseeded clubs advanced. 4 out of 10 unseeded champions and 4 out of 5 unseeded non-champions advanced. 5 out of the 8 clubs with the best coefficients were sent to the Europa League Playoff Round.
Celtic 5-0 Astana Astana 4-3 Celtic That was an 8-4 aggregate, which was the first Champions League Knockout Round or Qualifying Round aggregate in which the winning club scored at least 8 goals and the losing club scored at least 4 goals since the 1998-1999 Second Qualifying Round had aggregates of Benfica 8-4 Beitar Jerusalem and Steaua Bucuresti 5-8 Panathinaikos.
