Looking at that line up, if we don't sign some proven quality players I'm not sure we'll even crack into Europa. I guess assuming the worst will make any surprises more positive
Astori is quality. I don't know Hugo but considering we played much of last season with a midfielder (Sanchez) pairing him... As long as Hugo is decent we've upgraded there. I don't know Gaspar either but assuming he's better than Tomovic then we've upgraded in the fullback department, too. I think Tata is better than Sportiello but he's not *way* better than Sportiello, so whatever... I think Sanchez can be good but he and cristoforo are a clear downgrade from Badelj and vecino. Chiesa is the same. I like Babacar and I'm confident that he can do well now that he'll likely finally be the guy. Saponara, as a trequartista, is miles ahead of what Borja was as a trequartista as it never made a lick of sense to play him there. Veretout/Hago is likely a downgrade from Berna but Berna was wildly inconsistent. Now that the money is coming in I don't expect a ton of world class guys or anything but I'm mildly optimistic about things, especially because Pioli is about a million times more competent than Sousa was.
That's b/c they paid 10 mm Euros for him and got relegated. Looks like he had a pretty good year for St. Etienne on loan last year, so I'm hopeful---as we all are this time of year. Also, reading up on Rebic, looks like he scored as part of an impressive performance against Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal Final in May. I could be reading too much from a single game, but a good match in a cup final against a club like Dortmund has gotta do something for someone's confidence. Hopefully, he can build on it this season b/c it's gonna take players like him for Fio to return to Europe.
A group interested in buying the club is unhappy that they are getting rid of their best players and want the club to immediately freeze selling off assets. https://m.firenzeviola.it/news/fiorentina-appello-sundas-a-della-valle-246552
The transfer news has been so depressing I have tried to avoid this forum. Pioli more or less confirmed Vecino is gone today, who will sit out our friendly against Sporting CP. They will crush us. Bagadur sold to Brescia for ~300k Castrovilli loaned to Cremonese Kranevitter IN!? a defensive mid from Atletico - actually signing this guy would provide me with a little happiness. Seems like he could develop to be world class. Also rumored to be interested in Sinan Gumus, a winger from Galatarasay - another signing that would impress - likely Bernas replacement. Still no new news on Eysseric (creative mid from Nice) and Ghezzal (winger from Lyon). Kalinic has now said yes to both Inter and Milan. Does anyone have news on Badelj? I haven't heard anything (other than he's finally replaced that ass of an agent), but he's wanted out for 2+ years.
Badelj is almost surely gone. Best hope we have of keeping him is that he was injured a couple days ago.
Milan wants both Badlej and Kalinic I was hoping to get 35M from the pair - calciomercato thinks 30M If we decide to do a part exchange, it would be nice to grab Paletta (for cover+ experience) and Niang + cash Rebic wanted in the Premier League - not sure what sort of roster you have to want this guy, especially for 4.5M (more than Valero) Corvino put a 40M tag on Chiesa to scare away Napoli Rumor is Kranevitter is 8M (what Atletico paid River) and we're only offering 6M Markovic wouldn't be able to play for us this year due to 2 non-EU/yr So Badelj+Kalinic+Rebic are hopefully the last three out Assuming Eysseric is done, and we somehow sign Kranevitter, I think we're still short a backup fullback, backup CB, two wingers (one starter), and some sort of striker.
I saw that game and Rebic had a very good game but the same issues are still there. He is not consistent and he is a head case. The fact that his under 21 coach for Croatia niko kovac who brought him on loan did not want to sign Rebic after the season must tell you something.
Not underrated by us. He's been saying since a week after we got him, though, that he had no plans of staying after his contract runs out. I think he's been arguably our best player the last few seasons.
Pretty interesting (or funny) story about our squad 'revolution' Doesn't mention Kalinic or Badelj, both likely out as well, meaning 10/14 players who played against Juve in last years opener will be gone. edit: and those numbers don't include Valero!
Some promising news: -Eysseric is done, for 4M -Vecino passed his medical, and was sold for 24M -We have offered 10M for Dortmund wonderkid Emre Mor (a winger) -And we are trying to work out a swap with Atletico Madrid where we included Badelj for Kranevitter... this is difficult because of the Atletico transfer ban that lasts until Jan
