I think if you (1) play Bale where he's supposed to play (free roaming behind a striker or two), (2) in a tactical system that emphasizes counter-attacking and fast play, and (3) he stays healthy, he's clearly a top-5 player. Guy can change games by himself in that setup. In terms of ability he's in the tier alongside Neymar right below Messi/Cristiano for me. His first step acceleration is just crazy. He's good enough to build a world-class team around.

(Alternatively, I think he's still a phenomenal two-way player when asked to play a wide midfield role in a flat 4-4-2. But I think he'd much rather play as a full-blown attacking player and you don't spend 100m or whatever on a LM)

0/3 here, though. That's why I'd sell him. He's at his peak value and even when he's healthy and in form you feel he's a bit of a square peg in a round hole. Think him moving on would give Zizou more tactical flexibility because if Bale's healthy it's seemingly a 4-3-3 no matter what.

He gets injured playing golf and getting out of bed .

 

He played 9 games after that February game. Got red carded in one. Scored in 0. Wasted a sub in the Clasico.

 

But it can't be an excuse for poor performance. Getting injured is BAD for the team, no matter why.

The point is that this isn't something new, and we can't rely on a player like Bale through the season.

 

R9 helped us win 1 major trophy in 5 years at the club, he was an absolute joke (to the media and the fans), unprofessional and honestly a complete and utter waste of space when he was here.

Hate all you want but Benz and Bale have done far more to help this club win titles and will have a far better legacy here than R9 ever will.

 

I don't hate Bale but if some EPL team comes in with a big offer, I would sell.

 

If we sell it has to be for 150me+ in this market, despite his problems he is still only 28 and one of the most marketable faces in football today. Not to mention a genuine match winner on his day.

IF we do sell, and that's a big if, that would mean the end of the 4-3-3. we would have to buy Mbappe no matter what and we would be playing the 4-4-2 diamond from day one next season.

They say that monaco are only going to sell mbappe for 180m euros which could make the price go up to 200m euros.

Monaco are bluffing because if he doesn't sign a new contract they would have to sell for less mbappe has to come out and say he wants only real madrid and they are screwed.

True but why are monaco being so hard with this we are sure to know mbappe intentions very soon because if he doesn't come out and says he wants to play for us then we should leave him there.

One problem with selling Bale is that it'd give Monaco a lot of leverage.

I think they're crazy to play hardball with this though. You take him into next season and if he does anything but set the world on fire (or heaven forbid get hurt) you're back to talking about a mere prospect with only a year left on his contract. They'd be lucky to get 50m for him then.

If Mbappe is only willing to join RM, Monaco doesn't have much leverage given they won't even get half next year. If he's not ruling out City, this could drag. He'd have to tell Pep "not interested".

 

Yeah Mbappe needs to come out already and say Madrid or nothing. This isn't ending anytime soon. Price will be 200m by Monday.

 

Now mbappe the ball is in your corner, what are his intentions really but how does he go about it.

Does he come and publicly or in close doors to monaco and city,one thing for sure he needs to let monaco know je isn't signing a new contract.

 

Monaco are playing a stupid game so the news of us wanting to pay 130m were true and even when we upped our offer to 150m because kitty 160m euros offer they want more.

Mbappe must scare them like i am staying and will leave on a free next year that will teach them.

 

Now i get it real madrid have played this very well because by letting the people know about the fee monaco are asking at least the fans will understand if we don't sign him as it won't be our fault.

I mean we were ready to break the world record still despite him having only 6 months a great football and now i get why zidane said nothing is done yet.
