ESPN is also covering it for all of their channels around the world. But it is interesting to see FC being broadcast at 5:30pm on ESPN2 as well as 6pm on ESPNews. I'm guessing it's a summer thing.

All times Eastern (GMT -5.) 6am: ESPN2 -- 30 for 30 George Best 7:30am ESPN2 -- Inter v Chelsea Then it gets good. 5pm ESPN -- ESPN FC ESPN2 -- 30 for 30: Soccer Stories. White, Blue and White. From 5pm to midnight, ESPN and ESPN2 will be nothing but soccer. I'm counting 11.5 hours of soccer across two networks. (I'm not including SportsCenter On The Road, but it will certainly have a lot of soccer.)

I have been watching the UEFA Women's Championships (EUROS) which until this point have been covered in their entirety on ESPN3. Yesterday's Quarterfinal between Germany and Denmark was delayed and then postponed to 6 am today due to heavy rains. ESPN never posted the rescheduled match, despite calls to their Customer Care. ESPN dropped the ball on this one.
News: El Clásico Miami delivers ESPN’s most-watched soccer match since UEFA EURO 2016 Final https://t.co/6nETuMoYVJ pic.twitter.com/6XAy8d1Ozq— ESPN PR (@ESPNPR) August 1, 2017 ESPN’s coverage of El Clásico Miami Saturday night – a 3-2 victory by FC Barcelona over their archrival Real Madrid at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium – was seen by an average audience of 1.7 million viewers, making it the most-watched soccer match telecast on ESPN networks since last summer’s UEFA EURO 2016 in France. With an audience of 836,000, the Real Madrid–FC Barcelona match is the most watched non-United States international friendly match ever on ESPN – topping the previous high, an international match between Mexico and Argentina on September 8, 2015, seen by 724,000 viewers. Spanish-language telecast on ESPN Deportes and ESPN2 averaged 692,000 Hispanic viewers. http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-r...ched-soccer-match-since-uefa-euro-2016-final/
There was a full slate of MLS that night, right? I wonder how many opted for their MLS team in-person or otherwise instead of the friendly.

Watch out for a ESPN game going the other way soon if it hasn't already. Corner Of The Galaxy @GalaxyPodcast - Yep. I can’t remember which one it was. I found out about it last week. Just official today.
You have to be a real big fan living outside of the west coast to stay up that late on a Sunday night/ Monday morning to see that match.
It has become clearer why ESPN sent out a streaming survey recently: Disney is planning their own streaming service, they are pulling out of Netflix and also are starting a streaming service exclusively for ESPN promising 10,000 live regional, national and international matches an events a year. Looks like pay streaming services are coming to ESPN.
BREAKING: Disney to pull its movies from Netflix & will start its own ESPN streaming service https://t.co/XcNbygtcxR— CNBC (@CNBC) August 8, 2017
Update: Disney confirms MLS games will be part of ESPN’s subscription service, and also available as MLS Live. Bombshell: pic.twitter.com/SMzyS0pnk6— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) August 8, 2017
From what I have read NBC Sports has the rights until 2021. I assume the ESPN NHL games will be the ones that are on NHL network. BAMtech which is majority owned by Disney has the rights to stream those.
From what I've read the NHL offered is going to be NHL.tv, the league's out-of-market streaming package (as well as mlb.tv which is run by BAM). Instead of having separate apps/sites for these packages, it's all going to be under the new ESPN OTT umbrella. Also I've read that cable/satellite subscribers will get what's currently offered through their authenticated subscriptions but of course the league packages & new stuff will be extra.
Naah. They'll package cricket, soccer etc as a separate deal. Anything you can currently access on espn3 will become pay as you go. College football... They have to make their nut somehow. You'll get access to the ESPN networks in your c/s subscription, but anything they stream only will require a separate subscription. Thx, Jay!
This is a big jump for Disney/ESPN. Anxious to see what the pricing models will look like. Asking people to double dip with the high cable/sat carriage fee they already pay for ESPN + an online subscription. And people aren't going to want to get rid of Netflix to compensate. The good days of streaming are starting to go splat. Consumers are going to start feeling pecked to death by all the fragmentation.

You can already see ESPN's strategy... They have bought a good amount of soccer content recently. I don't know when La Liga's contract with BeIn is up, but I can see them bidding for that. They will broadcast a few games here or there on ESPN/ESPN2 and put a lot of other content on their paywall.
You're spot on. And it's very sad. Customer loses, either by having to pay more, or by having a much more difficult experience to watch their shows or games. Those greedy bastards!
