Arturo Mina is also out in River Plate. It's no wonder our National Team sucks. With the exception of Antonio Valencia, no player from this generation has excelled abroad. It really is quite sad and worrisome. Our players simply aren't that good.

Add Luis Caicedo to that list. On his way to Barcelona SC.

All of the IDV players from last season's Libertadores run have performed well under expectation

So who's on the list of failed or complete bust Ecuadorian players so far?
    1. Enner Valencia
    2. Arturo Mina
    3. Luis Caicedo
    4. Felipe Caicedo? Last I read Espanol was trying to get rid of him. I'd call that a bust.
    5. Jefferson Monetero? News says his team's fans can't stand him and he's constantly getting hurt. That's a bust.
Who else? The real question is how many of these busts is Quinteros going to call up for the National Team?

Should have gone to Spain. I did like when he kept playing after they fouled him. He seems bigger and he better hit some kind of form because we are going to need him.

it's been quite some time since I've posted, but with Qualifiers around the corner I'd like to ask who do you guys see on the NT for the upcoming games? Or more so....who would you like to see?

I can say I'm extremely disappointed and went ghost around the time we played Colombia and lost in Quito. That game just took my spirits to the sh*t hole when thinking about the NT. I really doubt we qualify this time because the chances are extremely slim. The only hope we can all have is in the players because Quinteros is only there in the physical....mentally he's out of the NT and will probably have one foot in Emelec soon since Emelec fans stay wanting Arias to leave.

To our misfortune, there's several players of our right now that haven't had playing time. Starting with Jeff Montero who barely played last season and has only played a few pre-season games with Swansea, we got Dida Dominguez who just joined Colon de Santa Fe and barely played last season...then our defense is an absolute disaster. I would hope Pineida makes it in time for Qualifiers, but I highly doubt it so right now the option I see is either Anibal Chala or give John Narvaez a chance and improvise him on the left. Other than that we are screwed for back up for Ramirez. Juan Carlos Paredes just made it to Emelec, but barely has had playing time so I doubt Quinteros calls him up and frankly he shouldn't since we are 3 weeks away and he hasn't played a single game yet. Luis Caicedo played most games in Cruzeiro as a starter, but his problem is that his form was on decline towards his last month there. Achilier should be fine and Arboleda seems to be in good shape so that should be our pair. As far as Dario Aimar he's had a somewhat inconsistent first semester. Some great moments and others that are pretty weak, but to be honest we have no one else. Arturo Mina doesn't play, Frickson Erazo has been injured forever, and there's no other center back in the country worthy of being on the NT. I wish Anderson Ordonez would come through in top form, but that's unlikely. The midfield is a no brainer, but we lack players like Michael Arroyo, Renato Ibarra (doubt he'll make it in time), and Jeff Montero who make a difference. Antonio is doing great, but then we have a Marcos Caicedo that isn't in the same moment he was in the first half of the year. To our good luck we do have Bryan Cabezas having good performances with Pananthiakos....but will Quinteros give him a chance? who knows. There's also Kevin Mercado who is a starter in his team in Bulgaria, but I doubt he gets a shot either. Other than that the midfield is the same old suspects. Up top there's an in form Juan Cazares doing great in Brazil, a decent replacement for Miller Bolanos: Gabriel Cortez, a better Enner Valencia who returned to Tigre's, a Felipe Caicedo that made it to Lazio with hopes to get minutes, and a mostly consistent John Cifuentes in the campeonato. Overall, we're average at best.

That said, this is my input on who I would like to see on the squad:

    Maximo Banguera
    Esteban Dreer
    Pedro Ortiz/Alexander Dominguez

    Pedro Velasco
    Anibal Chala
    Cristian Ramirez
    Andres Lopez
    Luis Caicedo
    Gabriel Achilier
    Robert Arboleda
    Dario Aimar

    Pedro Quiñonez
    Jefferson Orejuela
    Cristian Noboa
    Fernando Gaibor
    Antonio Valencia
    Marcos Caicedo
    Bryan Cabezas/Jefferson Montero

    Juan Cazares
    Gabriel Cortez
    Enner Valencia
    Felipe Caicedo
    John Cifuentes

Banguera; Velasco, Achilier, Arboleda, Ramirez; Noboa, Orejuela; Antonio, Cazares, Marcos; Felipe

Luis Caicedo and Orejuela cant play the match vs Brasil so Im guessing Fernando Leon will be his back up..... as for Orejuela Quinteros will most likely go with Oyola.

so supposedly we're calling up 25 players + a few others to make the list due to 13 players having yellows. I'd add a few names here. I'm glad to have seen Mario Pineida last night playing Libertadores. Looks like he will actually make it. Same with Renato Ibarra. He just played 90 mins with America. So there's hope. Monday, August 21st we'll have the official list.

Quinteros has stated that these players won't be on the list "Frickson Erazo, Arturo Mina, Alexander Domínguez, Jefferson Montero, Miller Bolaños and Juan Carlos Paredes". I'd like to see the following.

Banguera; Velasco/Pinieda, Achilier, Arboleda, Ramirez; Noboa, Cevallos Jr.; Valencia, Cazares, Cabezas; Felipao
    or
Banguera; Velasco, Achilier, Arboleda, Ramirez; Valencia, Noboa, Cazares, Cabezas; Felipao, Cifuentes

I will cry my eyes out if i see Ayovi on defense the man will get dealt with easy, Banguera has been the best goalkeeper imo, defense their isnt much but as much as i like Aimar starting him vs Brazil wouldn't be a good idea im split between Velasco or Pinieda for that LB position. Noboa has to start, i've always wanted to see him play with Cevallos but i wouldnt mind Oyola either. Cazares and Valencia are must starts against Brazil, Wouldn't mind seeing M. Caicedo, Arroyo, or Ibarra on that left side. Felipao gotta start but i do like Cifuentes and hope he gets minutes.

This game has always been a loss on the calendar from day one, i feel like there were some positives in the friendly matches between El Salvador and T&T but nothing that has me saying we got a chance at an upset, if we dont get a 4 points this round we out for good, and these 4 points are just to keep us in the race. Mentality will be a big factor this round. The biggest questions here are will Ayovi start and will Enner start. Ayovi would be a bad decision tactically and Enner.. well who know which Enner will show up the one who can score goals or the one that seems lost and can't find the net.

Walter Ayovi won't be on the list as well as the following: Michael Arroyo, Miller Bolanos, Jeff Montero, Arturo Mina, Frickson Erazo, Juan Carlos Paredes, and Alexander Dominguez. I know there are rumors saying Dominguez will get called up, but I think Quinteros may have just "blocked him out" like most coaches do just in case as a back up if something happens.

I think there's no justice served when it comes to the 3rd keeper. Pedro Ortiz is the 2nd best of the campeonato after Banguera. Dreer is really the 3rd keeper IMO. Originally I put Anibal Chala on my list, but Pineida is the man. Didn't think he'd make it in time, but he's gotta be on the list. Not a big fan of Cristian Cruz, I'd personally go with Andres Lopez. If anyone has seen this kid's season, it's way better than Cristian Cruz. Ramirez-Pineida on the left and Velasco-Lopez are the best we have on the right. Anibal Chala should be a back up of Pineida anytime he's out.

I think the surprise on the list may be Bryan Cabezas. He's started off this season pretty damn well. I don't see why he wouldn't be deserving at the moment since all we have on the left is Marcos Caicedo. IMO it's Marcos-Cabezas on the left. Antonio and Renato on the right. I'd use Enner as the player you can use either on the right, left, behind Felipe, or as a 9. He can go anywhere. If Quinteros is calling up extra players since lots of these have cards, i'd even add in Angel Mena. The center mids are the usual IMO: Gaibor, Quinonez, Noboa, Orejuela, and Oyola. We don't need an extra.

Up front: Cazares and Gabriel Cortez as the creatives, Felipe and Cifuentes as the target men.

We need a VERY fast counter vs. Brazil and IMO those two guys are Antonio and Marcos who have size and speed. I also think we'll need someone like Cazares over Enner who can help us keep possession. And of course Felipe.

Hopefully BSC's luck spreads over the NT.

Cabezas had a good goal today in Greece against Athletic Bilbao (Europa League)

One timer from outside the box. Quinteros should call him up at this rate. At least he's on form

Ecuadorian talent has taken a huge dive. I am not even exited to watch the NT. I only watch Valencia play once in a while and Liga as well. Right now all the players are a disappointment except Valencia.

Arturo Mina was transferred to some team in Turkey. Wasn't he going to Barcelona or Monterrey?

    My starting 11:

    Banguera,
    Velasco, Achiller, Arboleda, Ramirez
    A. Valencia, Orejuela
    Ibarra, Cazares, M. Caicedo
    F. Caicedo

Noboa hasnt played the last 6 games in his team. He only played one match. We can not start old slow players for this match or Quinonez who fouls alot.

Walter has been playing 90 min for his team so of course Quinteros would call him. He must have sh!t his pants into next week when he saw him put that assist for Dorregaray.

Noboa, Enner & Martinez would make great subs.
Quinteros cant rely on Oyola, Quinonez, Gaibor, Mena or Ayovi.

Honestly, I originally would've placed Felipe as a starter but the man has had no real playing time. Can't deal with that when we have such a crucial game to play. At this point I'd rather put Enner in the mix. At least he's scored 5 goals in the past month even though 3 of them were in one game.

Banguera; Velasco, Achilier, Arboleda, Ramirez; Noboa, Quinonez; Antonio, Cazares, Marcos; Enner

^ Everyone on this line up can be considered to be in a good moment besides Noboa. I'd still go with Noboa despite his age and him not playing. Why? Because he almost always comes through on the NT and to best honest he's been the stand out player for the NT in this entire qualifier if you ask me. This time he isn't playing as opposed to other seasons, but I'd still give him the go. Enner is the only other player that's slightly in ascending form (not at his best yet), but at least he's playing and scoring. It's better than nothing. With Enner-Marcos-Antonio we gain speed. With Cazares we have someone who is adapted to Brazilian futbol and hopefully can spread his talent on the NT just as he does in Atletico Mineiro.

For Quito, I'd bring Orejuela back in Pedro Quinonez's place. And I'd debate whether Cazares or Angel Mena should start due to the high altitude factor.

I literally see no chance of us doing much. IMO our player of this generation peaked long ago and are getting too old. Players coming up have been a disappointment internationally.
The only player imo that is doing anything important is Valencia like always. Another player I think can do good too is Cabezas. He is a stater and has played frequently.
Enner... meh. I guess we can go with him since no one else that was called up has any value. I want to see Cazares play, but his performances have been okay in Brazil. Nothing great like people have been hyping him up before.
Why no one from Delfin was called up? They should have at least being called up for friendlies or tryout. It's not like we have superstars starting for the NT.

Everyone else pretty much average or below. We don't have good goalies, the defense has to be the worse group we have called up in recent memory, midfield was somewhat solid but Ibarra isn't going to play, Enner sucks and all the forwards do too.

Literally our team is full of average or below average players. This team sucks. It be a miracle if we can win these next games. History is not on our side though.
