It's a very bad thing. The whole system now relies on Godoy. He didn't have a good game against the Flounders but he still was why they could look so much better early on compared to the match against the Red Bulls. Godoy has always had consistency problems. Somebody needs to help him figure that out. Alashe can cover ground, but we don't really know he'll be healthy enough and he's reliable for a serious blunder or two so it'll be a step down. Maybe they're not going to punish Ceren more than leaving him out of the 18 already once.
Godoy dropped his mark on the play in the first half that should have been a goal if it weren't for a spectacular miss, "assisted" on Seattle's first goal, and also missed a tackle on another play in the 1st half that resulted in a a Seattle player running freely and dangerously into the box (I think that resulted in another good chance). So, yeah, pretty bad game. Maybe still feeling down about the GC and letting get to his head a bit.
The Caltrain promotion for the game is pretty cool to be fair, and we get to break in the new underpass. Yes, this is what's exciting me most about Saturday.
We throw that term around a lot, myself included, but in this case it's apt to the nth degree. We must win this game, if for no other reason than stopping our horrific slide into mediocrity.
Can someone please elaborate on this: "The new Santa Clara Caltrain Station undercrossing makes taking the train to Avaya Stadium easier and more convenient than ever before,” Where exactly does this cut through? Is it brand new? As an SF resident this is very nice.
The tunnel cuts underneath the tracks at the Santa Clara Transit Center and let you out on Brokaw. You could be at Lillie Mae's House of Soul Food at Brokaw and Coleman in 10 and at the stadium in another 10 minutes of leisurely walk.
So new, it may still not be tagged*. Check Goggle Maps satellite image of the Santa Clara station. Its too old to see the underpass at the moment but there is superimposed line on the satellite exactly where the is underpass now located... * - Guessing its not tagged, I've not actually gone there yet but there have been recent stories of its opening on the 'Quakes site and in the Murky News...
I was hoping that Caltrain was planning to set up a stop like the one they have at Stanford, used only for football games. The problem with this underpass is that it still requires a fairly long and not exactly scenic walk to the stadium. Will people feel comfortable walking back at night? Maybe someday we'll get a real Avaya stop.
Best thing this underpass would be for, would be for taking Caltrain with your bike. Getting off and biking to Avaya. Only if they had a real bike valet at Avaya as was promised years ago.
This is a big deal for me. I live very close to Levi's Stadium, so Avaya would be a very nice, 4.5 or 5.5 (depending on which route I take) mile bike ride for me, but I am unwilling to leave my bike (along with the saddle bags in which I keep extra tubes, tools, etc. unwatched and unprotected during a game. If the front office dedicated just a little thought to bike riders, I'm sure that lots of folks would avail themselves and help alleviate parking issues.
As a former train commuter to/from Palo Alto's University station, I became very skilled at holding my breath for long periods of time.
