Conversation from this weekend: Silva: I want to quadruple your TV rights fees Garber: Go on... Silva: blah, blah, relegation, bl... Garber: what was that last thing? Silva: Relegation. Garber: Ah HELL No. Monday Press release: "league unable to even consider offer due to exclusive negotiating windows and renewal rights"
QUOTE="benni..., post: 35698818, member: 52330"]Who is Silva?[/QUOTE] [ I posted this over on Rac, rodeo but it is interesting http://www.espnfc.us/major-league-s...-deal-that-hinged-on-promotion-and-relegation My take from a different perspective than some others is Miami FC is a very well organized enterprise that is going head to head with Beckham's "club" in the market. Beckham knows the secret handshake to get MLS entre and Silva with his partner Paolo Maldini (ring a bell) feel that with 28 proposed teams in MLS the league needs promotion relegation to be credible. Take it from there.
MLS will go full east-west split before they do pro-rel. Then we'd have half the travel expenses, two all-star teams, two supporters shields and and probably an expanded MLS playoffs that means something, even with 16 teams. Added bonus: They'll have to hire somebody at the MLS Hauptbüro who can name all the teams east of the Mississippi.
And two punch bowls to float the turds in. I guess it's the supersize it mentality, too much mediocrity is better than less quality.
Sam McDowell @SamMcDowell11 #SportingKC has agreed to trade Dom Dwyer to Orlando City SC in exchange for $1.6 million in allocation money, $700K of which is incentives.12:27 PM · Jul 25, 2017 Might keep Larin too this window. Orlando basically trade for two significant players if you factor in Sidney. Super club time
Benjamin Baer Jul 25, 2017 1:4 PM Sporting Kansas City traded forward Dom Dwyer to Orlando City SC on Tuesday in a blockbuster, record-breaking deal. The US national team striker was traded to Orlando for $400,000 in General Allocation Money, $500,000 in Targeted Allocation Money, and $700,000 in future allocation money based on performance. In total, the trade package could reach $1.6 million in allocation monies, a new record for MLS. The previous the record set when Orlando dealt Kevin Molino to Minnesota United FC before the season for $450,000 in General Allocation Money and $200,00 in Targeted Allocation Money https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/07/25/dom-dwyer-traded-orlando-city-sc-record-deal
I thought he is still being allowed to enter at $25 million as long as everything else is wrapped up and he has other real investors.
Yea but that's the rub. If he couldn't get a stadium on the poor side of town then he's not in a great position otherwise
Overton was in the news the other day. Everyone is going there from all over... to get their opioids.
I can't believe KC let Dwyer go, I would have understood if it was to a EPL club or another decently big league, but not to another MLS club. I understand the money but I really don't get this move regardless
Between his actual salary/cap space ($668K guaranteed) and the Garberbucks, they're clearing/making $1M/year for 5 years (if you spread it out for 5 years, until he's 32 and might consider retiring) on this deal. I suspect they'll find a way to spend that money in short order.
Tons of funny money to play with. Also, I wonder if the risk of the player losing former after a big payday affected their judgment. Larger, shorter termed contracts might be the best option going forward from SKC's perspective
Grand night in the sport with 3 fine matches, Roma averts a classic give away with a last minute go ahead goal after squandering a 2 goal lead, Barca entertains at FEDEX with what may be Neymar's last goal in the colors, and the USA keeps us on the edge of our sofas with a win over a brave Jamaican side for the Gold Cup. It's the steak, not the sizzle
Yes 3 International Champions cup matches back to back and the Gold cup. This has been an excellent month for cable soccer. I have Cox in Fairfax so all were HD as well
