I don't think anyone's expecting Bayern to come calling or anything. But maybe a team in the Championship? I think he would leave Sporting for a team in that league, no problem.

So, I got bored and attempted to see what our salary budget might be with Lobato, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get SKC at/under budget. I know the league doesn't share allocation totals, but they do give general guidelines of what they allocate each year. Has anyone tried this before? Any insights? Just curious. (I have included Olum's allocation, Expansion year allocation, and even the weird 10.19(b) allocation from the CBA.)

This is before we even know what Lobato earns, and assuming Didic is either 53K or 65K. Could we possible be spending Nemeth money still?

You'd have better luck guessing at how to calculate Trump's taxes.

Yeah, I knew that before I started, but I got soooo close...

Edit: I may have stupidly left the off budget players in the calculation...

I don't think Sporting has the cap space to sign a new dp. But cap space would be irrelevant to make a dp out of Dwyer or someone who already makes more than the dp cap hit. Right?

Dwyer is already over max budget. We would probably need to make him a DP to pay him more. Without really knowing, their MAY be TAM available to give him maybe Roger money.

TAM went to 1.2 million this year, it MAY increase next year who knows though. It was supposed to be 800,000 at first. You'd also have to drop one of the DP's. and I'm assuming that there is maybe a 300K pure budget hit for Lobato. (Comparing to Ilie)

Nevermind the fact that they can spread TAM over entire SPA's, means I did a lot of reading today and still know nothing...

What we're Hearing from EPB at this Point sounds very promising. It is a joy to Play in our park, the club is really talented, he has to up his game still, but he is quite intent on that, etc.
Beyond that, it is now within six months of contract ending, so I would be surprised if his Agent hadn't been working on getting offers in, as well as working that Website to generate urgency.
Question, does MLS operate under the same window for pre contracts that other leagues do?Does a precontract have to be completed by the end of the Transfer window, or must he then wait until January to sign a new contract?
In any case, I am not seeing any News on him being pursued, which makes me think the SKC Position isn't weak. I think he has made it clear he wants to Play overseas someday, but maybe he is now seeing SKC for another two or three years as the best way to make that happen
    ?
Or is there News I am not privy to in europe?

What is the status of Cristian Lobato? Are they still waiting on paperwork or has he joined the club and started training?

Twellman reporting Orlando is trying to trade for Dwyer. Intriguing. Figured he'd be England or here.

Money to sign EPB to a big deal. Changing the formation to a 3-5-2

    EPB - Opara - Besler
    Illie - Roger
    Zusi Benny Medranda
    Gerso Salloi (or Blessing)

With Zusi/Medranda playing more "wingback" positions.

Would likely still need to figure out some help for the striker positions.

I don't think Dom is irreplaceable but he's all we've got right now as a starting level striker. I don't think you can trade away your starting striker in the middle of a season when you're near the top of the table and hoping to make a playoff run without a credible replacement. It would have to be one hell of an offer to make it worth it (one I don't think another MLS team can afford to make).

I think Rubio and/or Salloi could develop into a decent starter (especially because they'd hopefully have a confidence boost of knowing they were 'the guy') but I'm not sure you want to make that commitment mid-season unless you're not in the middle of a run.

Don't disagree with you at all ... just trying to talk through the thought process of the front office/coaching staff. I forgot Rubio, I'd start him next to Gerso in my lineup with Salloi as 1st option off the bench.

Quite a bit hinges on Lobato, I think. If he can turn into a goalscorer, maybe we could survive the downgrade from Dom to Rubio.

Goalscorer? I thought Vermes saw him more as a wide mid, which is more his preference than wide forwards.

Yeah Lobato didn't seem to be expected to be a goal scorer.

Well, I was thinking along the lines of Gerso. He wasn't much of a goalscorer before he arrived either. I can imagine PV working with Lobato like he has with Gerso. In this system we would like the wings to put the ball in the net. We primarily want service to come from the midfielders and fullbacks.

We don't have any wide mids in the 4-3-3. Lobato is going to take the left wing, and we want goals from that position.

It's an interesting thought. I'd argue that KC was the most successful time of his career, both on the field and in his relationship with the locker room and the fans. We've complained for years about Dwyer Island AND our lack of height up top. If we are going for speed and increased scoring from the wings with Gerso, Blessing, and Lobato, and knowing that we have a fullback like Zusi who can send in quality crosses, then it makes sense for the center forward to be more of a traditional target guy like Kei. I wouldn't be opposed.

And I'm surprised you haven't posted anything about the possible Nemeth rumors... ;)

Gerso still isn't much of a goal scorer, take away his hattrick and he just has 3 league goals this year.

I just hate the idea of bringing back a fan favorite in this situation, let the past stay in the past. Kamara also turns 33 in September, and is on a DP contract, both things I'd rather not be saddled with.
