It's a common misconception that players have a "value" that they're worth. It's all about what their worth to each team. If you're Man City or PSG and you have endless oil billions, then any move you can do to improve your team without running afoul of FFP is a good move. Just because those players wouldn't be worth that amount to someone else doesn't mean they're not worth it to City. I feel like it's actually smart that City took their positions of weakness and just paid what needed to be paid to upgrade them rather than making a random splashy signing here or there. I feel like these moves make them very comfortably the best team in England and probably 4th or 5th worldwide depending on whether PSG's summer moves actually go through.
Still not convinced about their CBs and central midfield. Those are the areas that needs major upgrade if they need to stop leaking too many goals. Gundogan is good but too injury prone. Dont have a proper DM. Stones looked clueless last year. Chelsea is still the best team for me.
It was the same last season. They made the most transfers getting some of the best players available (not counting Bravo) and they still failed while on paper they had the best squad. Conte is a better coach and has a more structured and balanced team.
If I'm city, I will buy van dyke. They only have 3 CB and Kompany is one of them. That means 2 CB which are Otamendi and Stones. 2 very unreliable defenders. They also need 2 left backs. As Clichy and Kolarov are gone. A lot of poor squad planning in the Pellegrini days left them with 4 full backs over 30yrs. The position that does the most running in modern football. Last season city was the 17th oldest in the EPL Most of the buys under Pellegrini have been totally useless. Bony Jovetic Negredo, Navas Sagna Mangala Otamendi Sterling Fernando
Correct. It's like i'm saying, if Manchester City would be the best football as a sport had to offer, i wouldn't pay a cent to watch it.
They need a world class CF who scores lots of goals. A player like Lewa would be a huge upgrade. Yeah they leak too many goals, but so did we last season. Guardiola's style would make most defenders look clueless, unless you have a midfield of prime Xavi and Iniesta.
Aguero and Gabriel Jesus have plenty of goals in them, buying a CF should be their last priority. They need a CM, a CB and a LB.
Neither is elite. Last season they didnt much trouble creating chances. They couldnt finish them off. Aguero should be allowed to leave and be replaced by a better finisher.
City get Bernardo Silva for €50M but pay €60M for Mendy? Who is running the negotiations over at Monaco? They sold themselves extremely short on Silva IMO, was a steal in this market.
How isn't Aguero an elite striker? The guy has 122 goals and 36 assists in 181 apps for City in the EPL. Won EPL twice with city. The year that they bought him, they won the first title in decades. Golden boot 2014/15. 253 games for City,169 goals, 51 assists in total. For most of the seasons he's in top 4 scorers even with his shitty playing time.
Ok. 25 goals in the EPL, top 4th scorer. Had 800+ less minutes than Lukaku and Sanchez who are 2nd and 3rd.
I believe he scored 20 only, and statistics could be nice but never tell the whole story. Anyways, I am not interested in an extended argument about a club like Man City, and they don't seem to be after a striker anyways (other than Mbappe's rumors maybe).
Yeah it's 20, 5 in the UCL. Well tbh Aguero's only purpose is to score, not really to link-up or provide assists so stats are pretty much a good measurement of him. Pep argues with you, he doesn't rate Aguero that highly. Gabriel Jesus will replace him, sooner or later. The guy is a beast, started 6 games as a ST, 5 goals and 2 assists. Premier league stats: 651 mins,7 goals ,4 assists. That's a goal/assist every 59 mins. Unreal.
To elaborate (on stats don't tell the whole story), who is a better goal scorer, Ronaldo or Cavani? If we were to take stats alone, Cavani is the better goal scorer (I know, French League is easier - CL stats say the same). They don't tell that Cavani would ******** up much easier chances than the ones Ronaldo misses, on average. Once again, ******** Man City ... hope they fail to win any title next year, but they could use a better goal scorer for sure ... IMO.
Guardiola has spent over 395M euros since joining in 2016... LMAO 1) John Stones - 55,60 Mill. € 2) Leroy Sane - 50,00 Mill. € 3) Gabriel Jesus - 32,00 Mill. € 4) Ilkay Gündogan - 27,00 Mill. € 5) Nolito - 18,00 Mill. € 6) Claudio Bravo - 18,00 Mill. € 7) Marlos Moreno - 5,50 Mill. € 8) Gerónimo Rulli - 4,70 Mill. € 9) Oleksandr Zinchenko - 2,00 Mill. € 10) Kyle Walker - 51,00 Mill. € 11) Bernardo Silva - 50,00 Mill. € 12) Ederson - 40,00 Mill. € 13) Danilo - 30,00 Mill. € 14) Douglas Luiz - 12,00 Mill. €
Messi deleted all pics of him with Neymar out of his instagram account. By the way i do think Neymar will stay, most likely because the club will obey to every demand of his, even if it means buying friends for him. They can't afford to lose him.
Couldn't see any Madrid games for distance and timing reasons, but just saw PSG vs. Tottenham in Orlando -- $90 for front row seats around 1/3 of the way along the pitch. Brilliant value, highly recommend these matches to fellow Americans here. Made me miss ADM.
