I also see what you meant Falc about Sandros defense being over rated and him not being great at it, that showed today. His speed and ability to recover and work ethic some what make up for it tho, hes not afraid to get stuck in.
Was Kean not on the bench today? Hes listed on game day roster and seeing as he would be on the depth chart for first team as we stand now, its interesting that he did not get in playing time. The same applies to Rugani... wonder why he didnt get to play. hopefully there is a justified reason for it like injury or illness.
My opinion on today so far (I'm not going to comment on Lemina, Sturaro or Asamoah. They are perpetual garbage): - Costa is fast but still has questionable decision making that Bayern fans were saying. If he buys in to Allegri's system and simplifies his decision making, he's going to be huge for us. Dybala will have a field day from masking runs off of Costa's dribbling. - Cuadrado still has zero footballing IQ. Thank god they bought Bernardeschi or I would have had a stroke seeing how many times Cuadrado ruins the run of play. - Dybala looked good. Nothing more. - Chiellini seemed to jump in to attack more than normal.
Cuadrado really needs to be sold... he doesnt belong here... throw Kean on the wing... they both do the same shit and Juan is habitual at making bad decisions. Could not believe he was trying to take on his defenders, I saw the same form he has in the CL final.
I simply can't judge anyone based on a friendly never mind the first one. I can't remember the last time Juve won or even played well in their first match of the summer. In the year they made it to the Berlin final, Juve lost to the Galaxy in their first match of the preseason. Still, this match does serve as a reminder that Juve have a few liabilities. The midfield needs to be reinforced badly. Lemina, Sturaro, and Rincon are not Juve quality. Cuadrado is still Cuadrado. Benatia and Licht regressed last year. Juve can't rely on these players next year. This friendly is meaningless, but the signs are still there from last year that the aforementioned players are poor.
The crowd seemed electric for a friendly. I can't find it online but how many fans were in attendance?
WTF was that starting line up?? You try to promote the Juve brand in US playing against Barca...you have all these attacking options and you choose the worst possible players. People came to see the stars so start your main players.
Who cares? The only thing that matters is what's best for the team. We never play our starting 11 for the first friendly of the pre-season. Ever.
Allegri should be playing the fringe players. For many it's their final opportunity to impress even in a meaningless friendly. Plus, the South Americans haven't even trained with the whole group.
I was at the game. Very impressed with the squad in the last 30 min. and I have been to many friendlies.
I was also at the game. I can't tell you how privileged I feel to have observed just how utterly shit Sturaro is in person. I know we shouldn't kill anyone because of a friendly performance, but it is unequivocally clear that he is not Juve quality. Ship him out of here for a bag of balls because he is useless. Also, I agree with those of you who have questioned Benatia's performance. I was observing his positioning all game. He takes way too many chances and is careless in possession. That said, it's not as if he is useless. We are ok if he is fourth choice CB. If Barzagli can hold out another season and Rugani improves, we are alright at center back. The problem position is going to be right back. Lichtsteiner has been on his way down for the last couple of years. Attackers on his end of the pitch did whatever they liked, and he's not good enough going forward to justify his defensive deficiencies. De Sciglio was average as well. He slipped on one play putting his defense in a very vulnerable spot. He also got caught missing on a reckless challenge up the pitch. I would continue to look for a RB and look to sell Asamoah, as MDS can play on the left. Asamoah is serviceable at best. He takes way too many chances with the ball and isn't all that great defensively. On a positive note, the boys looked good when Higuain, Dybala, D. Costa and Cuadrado came in. They could have tied the game, though, in fairness, Barca was better on the day. I liked what I saw from Marchisio despite the fact that he wasn't surrounded by most of the first team players. Chiello, even setting aside the goal, was a beast. I think we're going to be really good again. The side just needs some final touches, preferably a CM and a trustworthy right fullback.
Not bad. He played in an attacking left flank position. He showed some nice touches and even robbed Messi a couple of times. Too early to tell what he's gonna be, but he didn't look out of place.
Over 82,000. They said we set a record for the highest-ever attended soccer match in New Jersey history.
Thanks! I just found it. Great seeing 82k fans in attendance in New Jersey...It would be great if MLS club owners get a cut of the revenue.... Barcelona vs Juventus match attendance was 82,104 at MetLife ...
Its not about winning or losing this game but u gotta understand the purpose of tours like this. We have a long way to go to become popular in US and its a big market with good money to be made. So just like how Barca started w some of their stars like Messi and Neymar, we should have started w some of ours too. That line up was bullshit and it made no sense having sturaro and bentacur in those positions when we have plenty of options.
