Any chance Maynor will feel up to flying up to Canada from Phoenix on short rest?
I'm digging Hollingshead at left back. I think it's his best spot and the left mid/winger always looks better when he's there because he takes defenders away from them because of his runs.
We're currently third in the league in points per game. Winning this game won't change that - which is why it is so important to bring 3 points home. The good news is that #1 Chicago and #4 NYCFC play each other in NY tomorrow. If we win this game and NYCFC wins their game, we inch closer to the #1 spot. If NYCFC wins, then a loss means we drop to #4 in PPG.
And of course, Cristian Colmán scored the goal that the idiots in yellow didn't give. The guy is snakebit.
Chicago dropped points yesterday, Toronto settled for a draw today. Dallas made up ground on both today.
Not only did he score 3 (2 that counted), but they weren't that easy. His first (that counted) has been called a "tap in," but it looked to me like it took a significant adjustment by him to deal with the bounce of the pass. The way he took his second in the second half seemed to be a direct result of confidence gained from his previous goal. Man, it would be nice if someone could be a consistent help lifting some of the goalscoring load off Urruti's back. Hope this game is the start of the emergence of Colman the legitimate goalscoring threat.
Remember the lead up to postseason 2015? Ryan was a beast behind Castillo, while not regularly ending up on the stat sheet. For stretches of 2015, when we were in dire need of points in the race for supporter's shield, Hollingshead was often the best player on the field. That year, we had dropped Jair Benitez, and often played Michel in the midfield, instead of LB. I don't think anyone was hopeful about Hollingshead or our depth at LB. I remember being surprised at how tricky and smart he was. Now, we all know that having Ryan at LB drastically improves whoever is ahead of him at LW/LM.
I still think Lamah's uptick is a result oh having the more marauding Hollingshead behind him. Will also say that What Figueroa just did at CB was epic after just getting back from the Gold Cup. He and Attila were more than just decent. No players are needed now. Team is deep everywhere and multiple players deserve more minutes they won't get.
