Levian's Aluminum Palace...trek to it via multiple transportation methods - parking? lol, open your wallet - actually just hand it over when you get there, sit in your temporarily shiny seat, applaud when the scoreboard tells you...those seeking anything genuine and/or extraordinary need not enter. Yeah I'm a downer, but Washington DC isn't a place where soccer fans should need to buckle down to embrace a hassle filled experience and remember how rough other soccer fans around the world have it, particularly when they're promised sunshine and roses that ultimately ends up materializing as a slap in the face.
You were right. The stand supports that are in front of thingy 11 and 12 are up. Those thingys could go could go up soon. The west stand will basically be done from a structural standpoint.
This is as good a time as any to thank sitruc for the many pics of stadium construction and associated wildlife. The team should buy his pics for their website.
That would require the club to care....They should be doing weekly updates, show whats coming, do any promotion.....
Might as well put this here - https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/21/business/audi-diesel-emissions-daimler-bmw.html
For some positivity, here's a picture of Talon slapping 5 with kids: Source: https://goo.gl/images/eLUNik
They are doing them weakly as with everything else they do except cash their paychecks and pad their expense accounts
Just wait-- the Machete is giving us-all the biggest Rope-a-Dope of all time. We'll keep bitchin' as we watch the latest construction pics. Then one day someone will ask: "what the hell's that being installed?" And: "WTF? Those look like roof supports-- on the North End!" Etc., etc. And before our astonished eyes, the stadium we've always dreamed about takes form, all entirely unannounced by the FO. They will be heroes, we'll look like untrusting chumps, and DCU will enter a glorious new golden age . . . I'll stop now, before I get even more depressed.
I checked to see if there is any surprise construction at Poplar Point. There is not. The ballet of welders in articulating boom lifts on the west side is impressive. Many of the roads around the stadium site are one way. They are supposed to change to two-way and are often treated as two-way even with signs saying one-way. Some now have a yellow line down the middle. There are a lot of people on the site today. I don't like taking photos of people. I might post some later. The walls of the south building foundation are coming along.
You don't like taking pictures of people, but do take pictures of groundhogs? Umm, would you like a referral to a counselor with whom you can discuss this issue on a confidential basis?
I think I can take a groundhog. I don't like people taking photos of me. I would like it even less if it was while I was working. There were a couple of guys who didn't like me taking photos today and that has happened before too. I post a very small number of photos versus what I actually take. (Somehow I have over 180 just from this week) I try to avoid photos where people are actually identifiable and occasionally I crop or blur a little.
"There's a chance that the seats will be grey or black since red seats stick out on tv broadcasts if they're empty and it looks bad" wish I was just being a big DC jerk but that's what one DC rep really said.
How about if they fielded a basic, competent soccer team, they wouldn't have to worry about empty seats.
At some point they showed renderings with more black seats, but still a lot of red seats. I have said this all along and this has been the primary reason I have wanted grey/black seats. It's one of the team's colors. It's an easy out. ********. They could mix the black and gray if they really wanted a better empty stadium look. Damn Bryce Harper. Goodness. Happy birthday.
Stopped by the site today with my stepson (ok more of a forced visit for him). I'm not entirely sure there is room for two more of the thingy supports on the North end of the West stand. It looks as if there are smaller support structures going up there. Down on the SouthWest corner that skinny little stand is at an unreal angle, it looks steeper than the rest of the stands. Looks like the basement or underground parking walls are going up for the South end Administrative building as well.
The smaller supports go in front of the thingy. There are two sets of smaller supports up already. The thingys are actually on site near the smaller supports The pitch of the stands is the same on the south as it is on the west. There is a bit of an illusion since the south stands are taller than the west and don't yet have anything to connect to.
Or they put the show-up-no-matter-how-bad-team-sucks SG members (and others) in the seats at the center line. Problem solved. It's been done before. Cough. Cough.
What are the chances someone could use one of the thingies as a gallows to Hang Ben Olsen and his staff (in effigy of course)?
