lol @ any Madridista that doesn't like to see a worthy albeit scummy rival/one of the biggest clubs in the world suffer. Especially in its current incarnation run by corrupt buffoons save the "I'm fine with them being reasonably strong!" shit for Atleti
(Madridistas discuss potential & hilariously audacious & vindictive 2x record transfer of one of arch-rival and La Liga's best players in "Other Teams Thread") *contrarians: QUIT BEING OBSESSED*
I'm not entirely convinced they'll suffer as a result. I'd actually rather they keep Neymar so he can destroy them from within. His wages & legal problems have weighed on Barca since day 1 and they own 0% of his image rights. €220M could actually make them a balanced enough team to compete with Madrid/Bayern. It'll buy you less when people know it's burning a hole in your pocket, but still is worth Dembele / CM / LB.
Whatever happens to Barca, they will still be top 3 team in la Liga and will be competitive in CL. The rumors I read today are that they are after Coutihno, or Dybala, maybe not this season but the next? The Neymar transfer IMO does more to PSG than it does to Barcelona.
Only on bigsoccer do you see people lament the fact that Real Madrid sold a player who featured about 900 minutes, while claiming that selling one of the possibly best 5 players in the world won't do much to Barcelona.
I said it will be a bigger impact to PSG than to Barca. or do you actually think selling Neymar will send Barca to the middle of La Liga table?
Selling the one player out of their most advertised trio with the entire future ahead of him will deal severe damage to the club. Even if they buy Dembele, Neymar is really so much better, it's almost like when Manchester United replaced Ronaldo with Valencia. Not within 10 matchdays, but he's a crucial player for the brand. This transfer would be a setup to a resignation of the club president. Barcelona would rather double his wages than lose him, which is why i don't think he'll leave.
Being second or third and not winning the CL is pretty much finishing mid-table for Barca. The same for us.
Yeah but they've also been knocked out of the CL so many times with the MSN at its peak so if they fail to win the CL again, no one can say for certainty that it was because Neymar left. They have bigger issues in their midfield and defense that they need to address .
Without Neymar, they would have lost against PSG and being kicked out even earlier. Such players increase your chances of success. I mean, would you part with peak CR7, just because we have been thrown out of the CL so many times? He is top 3 player easily and Brazilian brand which is crucial for Barca, especially now when Messi is 30 and changing his play. I dont see how Barca can afford to lose Neymar.
It's a massive loss for Barca in terms of jersey sales and marketing. But people are brutally overrating Neymar's contributions on the pitch here. 2015 Neymar was up there with Ronaldo and Messi. Since then he's regressed. Couple brilliant performances here and there but for the most part he's been a black hole, especially last season. Barca beat us with Paco playing in his position. Sure this will affect Barca in the short-term since there are no upgrades available this summer, but in the long run they are better off. I know PSG are desperate for a big name and to be considered a top club but this guy isn't worth the headache. Complete baggage with his snake of a father, entourage, skipping matches for family birthdays and lobbying for Barca to sign his friends Lima and Paulinho. His posturing on social media recently is pathetic too. Full blown drama queen. There isn't enough money in the world to rely on a player like Neymar.
The Neymar deal would be huge. Talk about a turn of events. From laughing at Ronaldo possibly leaving the losing one of your best players.
I agree. His production has dipped significantly last season. PSG performance hid a lot of meh performances from him throughout the season. Messi was the one who kept them in title race with so many late goals. 13 goals and 11 assists from 30 games for Neymar is hardly worth 222 ME. I think this will end up like Robinho's PSG move couple of years down the line. His lifestyle already having an impact. I'd compare Neymar this season to Dinho 2006-07. Dinho even had a great season stats wise, but that spark from 2004-06 was missing in majority of games. I don't expect Neymar to have the longevity or Ron/Messi. If someone as talented as Dinho can't get away with unprofessional lifestyle, how' will Neymar? He could deliver for PSG for couple of seasons, but won't be surprised if he's not considered a top 10 player by 28. Mbappe, Dembele, Dybala etc would have emerged fully by then as well.
I understand what you are saying but if, let's say PSG wins the CL next season with Neymar, would you say this transfer had a bigger impact on Barcelona than it did on PSG?
And these idiots claimed Goal line technology is too expensive for La Liga. Among Villar RFEF-gate charges accepted by judge is €36m [THIRTY-SIX MILLION] spent on referees gear never used https://t.co/6e7tK5dzVN— Dermot Corrigan (@dermotmcorrigan) July 21, 2017
Yeah because you prefer to concentrate all of your energy on bashing and destructive criticism of Real Madrid. Definite fan here.
Yes, because your personality and style is to criticize the things you support. Evident by your harsh destructive criticism of all things Ronaldo. You definitely play contrarian there.
Barca media started Dybala campaign as Neymar's replacement. Says Juve could sell for 110-120 ME. http://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbo...precio-fijado-por-la-juve-si-va-al-barca.html Liverpool rejected 80 ME bid from Barca for Coutinho. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jul/21/liverpool-reject-philippe-coutinho-barcelona-bid
Losing Neymar would be a massive loss for Barca, everything considered. Can't believe it's possible he'll be gone. A Dybala would not even make sense for them. Where would be play? The position available would be the left wing and that's a position not necessarily suited for Dybala's style and skillset. Switching to a 4-4-2 would make them chaotic I think. No, losing Neymar would leave them exposed for at least a season. Replacing Neymar with Dembele also would be a massive downgrade, as Dembele - while incredibly talented - is still very raw and doesn't possess (i) that fine technique that Neymar has in small spaces and (ii) Neymar's combination play (which is huge for Barca's game). I don't know, I believe it would put them in a crazy situation.
