We really need to sign someone with quality. Porto is always finding good full backs in Mexico, I'm sure there is someone there with quality. Brazil also usually produces quality full backs. I can understand why we're going for Granada defenders - they were relegated so we can probably get them for less money. But from what I read the other RB is better.
yea, no sense in blowing 10 million on a position we're stacked at. We got abused on the left and right side last year and Semedo and Coates had to compensate. Spend that money on positions of need. No need to cheap out on LB and RB.
Official: Marcos Acuna officially joins Sporting CP from Racing Avellaneda for a fee of 9.6M euros + solidarity fees. The player was already training with us but hasn't played for us as the deal wasn't official yet. He becomes our 2nd most expensive signing behind Bas Dost (10M euros). Pavon is a winger yeah, which is why I don't understand the target, unless like you said Gelson is being sold. I also read that Boca has some ridiculous buyout clause of 8M or something like that. With Gelson, Podence and Iuri I think it's a waste looking at this guy. I'd rather revisit Pity Martinez and look to add depth on the other side of the field behind Acuna. And above all that I'd rather see an effort being made with RB. Pretty sure we'll be running the season with Piccini :/ or even DM, these William rumours got me nervous a bit lol
Apparently, along with Benfica, Sporting is looking at Barcelona RB Douglas who has been on loan at Sporting de Gijon. 26 years old but has been considered as a big flop since leaving Brazil, not getting any time with Barcelona. It's nice to see there searching for options at RB but none of these names excite me.
Also looks like Bordeaux GK Cedric Carrasso could be on his way to the team in the next week likely as Beto's replacement. 35 years old, spent the last 8 years with Bordeaux, would've liked to look at someone younger but as a backup and replacement for Beto it's alright.
We do need a 3rd keeper (Jug like Tobias at defense does not have what it takes) but I'd really like to see Pedro Silva have a shot (he could play in the cups). Douglas would be a shot in the dark, he could be a great pickup for our league (Coates was a flop in England) or he could be a bust. This is the kind of deal I wouldn't mind a loan + option to buy.
Pedro Silva is who I would have penciled in for 3rd GK as well, Jug has had his shot IMO and has shown pretty well nothing.
Apparently the Douglas rumour is fabricated. But there are now reports that Sporting is looking at 25 year old RB Arnaud Souquet from Nice.
GK Romain Salin is said to be in Lisbon to finalize a contract with the team. Familiar with the league being with Rio Ave and Marítimo as #1 ahead of Jose Sa in the last few years. Younger, and I'd imagine a cheaper option than Carrasso.
Looks like Beto already on his way to Turkey, as soon as he signs for his club we're set to announce Salin. Good backup option, knows the league. Beto seems intent on leaving for Turkey (at 35 he has an offer at double his wage, don't blame him Its probably his last big contract of his career) and we needed a good option as backup. As for RB, why don't we try and sign Vieirinha? Unless he's not tall enough for JJ
A source at Sporting denied that we were interested in Douglas (RB, Barcelona). Today's rumour for RB seems to be Ristovski from Rijeka (international for Macedonia)
