I said £70M is too much for Morata. €70M is reasonable which is ~£61M. Danilo's defending is not his strength. Going forward he is good. At Madrid he has flopped, but at Porto he was great. For €30M its a good buy. I think he would overtake Moses if he regains his form, at the least he will push Moses even further which will only benefit the team. €30M doesn't buy you a lot now days so the value is there.
SkySports (yes, the only site I read outside of this board for my soccer stuff) is reporting a new two-year contract for Conte (not an extension, but update terms as a reward for winning the EPL). I didn't see a number.
I am actually not surprised that Conte did not sign an extension. This is not so bad. Conte left Juventus, a club he loved because he did not feel he was getting the proper support to compete for the UCL. If Chelsea does not give Conte that same support then I wouldn't be surprised if he walks. Now, the club are the ones who have to prove to Antonio that they are going to back him for success. In my eyes, we have one of the best managers in the world, he is the one who I think if backed, can create something that last more then 3+ years at the club.
Shit show seems a little strong? Other than the striker situation, the window hasn't been too bad. It's almost inevitable at least 2 more players will come in by the time it's closed too. Definitely not a 10/10, but it's already looking better than 2015. No need to panic about anything quite yet
Plus Baka, Rudiger, minus Costa and all the youth depth sold with extra European games is clearly a shitshow with season beginning in 3 weeks and bit. United, Liverpool and Spurs' transfer windows are also a shitshow, though deliberately in the last case.
There's no way Costa doesn't get replaced before the window is over, even if it's not a Morata or Belotti. Who knows, maybe Michy will have to take a bigger role but who says that's the worst option out there? Rudiger and Bakayoko are decent additions, certainly better than signings like Michael Hector and Matt Miazga. And youth depth will be replaced with more youth depth - who are pretty much just as proven at the top level as the youth depth we've sold or loaned. Christensen will be here as well. Last year we were signing David Luiz on the last day of the window and it was a heart attack and a half. There's really not much reason to panic right now. At least give it until mid-August
Pato might be coming back. . .to save the day just a thought. Another thought is that maybe the Conte as manager deal had to be solidified to make sure we got the new striker? The new striker needing to know the manger he expected to be there would be there for a couple of years. Aguero. Higuain. Belottit. Morata. and the winner is. . . I have no idea. My money is on Belotti at this point.
Danilo to City (maybe he always wanted to go there? we dont know anything) but maybe Morata close to us. http://metro.co.uk/2017/07/19/chels...anilo-agrees-to-join-manchester-city-6791093/
Any transfer failings will usually be down to Marina. Also, we have no idea who we wanted, when, and or other circumstances involved. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/meet-marina-granovskaia-chelseas-transfer-5103558 If Danilo wants to sit on the bench behind Walker, maybe that's what he's used to from Madrid. Fine by me.
I am pretty sure we were after Danilo and we were close throughout. Obviously he was one of our top targets as wingback. We will go second choice again.
Additionally, Pep has proven to be one of the worst top flight transfer market managers in history. If City want a player, I'm glad to keep my Stones. I mean my distance.
Morata for anywhere between 1 pound to 500 million pounds. I hope the red dye washes out of his hair by the time we announce him.
