    Lux's return is more than welcome. If he had been in goal the whole season, we probably would have won the championship. He's a safe pair of hands at the minimum. We don't need a goalie to come in and make 10-12 saves a game, we just need him to organize the defense, lead, and more than any thing just not make any monumental ******** ups. He's ideal.

    As for Chori, well I would certainly welcome him back. Its true that Lucho, Aimar, and Saviola all struggled, but look at our current bench... Mora is out until next year, Alonso is on his way out the door, Auzqui is out for a few more weeks and hasn't been very good in the time he's played... On Sunday we had no attacking players other than Larrondo on the bench, and even though he scored, his injury record makes him a risk, not to mention his horrible form in every match he played prior to the other night.

    Obviously, we know that Chori and Lux are both free transfers, which we have rightfully given D'Onofrio and Enzo shit for in the past, but both players know the club, and most importantly they are deals that can, in theory, be made NOW. We have until the 1st of July to add three new players, which is just 10 days. Given this current administration's record of negotiating, signing a player from another club in that short time is impossible. We need to add and we need to strengthen now. We can't play the Guarani series with Battalla and we can't play it with only one, unreliable attacking substitute on the bench so I am 100% in favor of both signing.

    If we are going to make any big name signings like Enzo Perez or Carlos Sanchez, unfortunately we are going to have to wait until the semifinals.

    $1,500,000 for the 34-year-old

    Apparently he turned down a stronger proposal from Boca for this to go through

    Rosario Central fans showing themselves to be classy as always, spray painting a wall of the school where Pinola's kids go with "Pinola Traidor":

    1498223355_pinola.png

    Seriously, you'd think a club like Central that hasn't lifted a primera division crown since 1987 would be used to their players leaving for bigger and better things, but no, each time a player leaves there is a scandal with death threats and even children and families being targeted. Pathetic people.... Not to mention, in this case in particular, calling Pinola a traitor is laughable. He never even played for Rosario until he was 32 and he spent most of his career in Germany. He was born in Olivos, which to those who don't know Buenos Aires, is a neighborhood in the Vicente Lopez municipality which is literally just a few kilometers from El Monumental and is one of the areas in the greater Bs As area with most River supporters, and Pinola used to go to El Monu as a kid. He owes Central nothing and he has no connection to that club other than spending 2, trophy less seasons there

    Looks like Seba Driussi is set for Zenit, who will be paying his transfer release clause (+/- €15,000,000).

    Suerte gordo! Muchos te dudamos al principio, pero la rompiste toda este semestre... Y como olvidar el gol que calló al inodormo? Sos un grande, y el mundo River te agradece por todas las alegrias... Hasta la proxima

    With that being said, Mora is out for the rest of the year, Alonso has been living injured since the Copa Argentina final (and is rumored to possibly leave), and Larrondo is broken (and even when healthy I don't think he's that good of a player).. Then there's Auzqui, who is alright, but we need someone more clinical.

    Who would you guys go after to compliment our attack? Right now we only have Alario. We can't rely soley on him (hypothetical injuries/suspensions/poor form), and regardless he won't be sticking along for much longer given his quality. We must reinforce up front now that Driussi is gone if we are to fight for the Libertadores.

    Andrada and Kaprof are set to return from their loans, but lets be honest, neither are really River quality. Maybe Kaprof in the future, but I think Andrada has failed to live up to his initial hype and is most likely a lost cause by now.

    Other than that, who is available in inferiores? I remember the pibe Franco Lopez, but I don't know if he's ready for Primera yet. Anyone else in our famous star-making youth divisions?

    Apparently Ignacio Scocco --previously wanted by River on multiple occasions-- is the main target to replace Driussi.

    Newell's would want approx $3,000,000 for the 32-year-old forward, and Andrade, Barboza, and Arzura are candidates to enter part of the negotiation

    I would have given anything for Scocco 2-3 years ago. I remember at Ortega's despedida, the crowd even gave him an ovation in hopes he'd come to River. Now? So he stayed with Newell's then as soon as the club goes bankrupt and he knows he's now going to get paid anymore he wants to come to River? He should have come when he had the chance, instead he wasted what could have been some of the best years of his career winning nothing and not even playing international cups.

    All that being said... 12 goals in 24 starts is not a bad return, and if the alternative is Scocco or Auzqui/Alonso... I'd take Scocco all day.

    I would not include Barboza in the transfer under any circumstances, but we know there is something weird going on with the kid and that River seems to not want anything to do with him, so maybe he will be including. On the other hand, I'd personally drive Arzura to Rosario if they want to include him in the transfer.

    I don't know if I'd want to give up on Andrade yet, I would send him on loan to some club where he can get playing time, but I would off load him completely just yet.

    Another name I heard mentioned is Franco Soldano from Union. I honestly have no idea who he is, but if the rumors are true and River is after him, its clear they are just trying to find another Alario, but not every kid from Santa Fe is going to show up and score in the Libertadores semis and final... In fact, I'm pretty sure Alario was a once in a life time situation.

    Looks like Lux and Pinola are set for River, while Scocco's transfer is about to go through (the offer has been officially accepted).

    We're forming a nice team.. If Enzo Perez ans Kranevitter's transfers goes through also, we're going to have one hell of a squad

    Yes, Lux and Pinola had their medicals this morning, though I don't think they've signed officially yet. Hopefully, they're doing so as I write this and they will be ready for training tomorrow.

    On Enzo Perez, I am reading that Newcastle United has become interested and could be preparing a 10 million Euro offer, which would be higher than River's proposed 8... Even though the player's preference would be River, you have to think that Valencia would accept the higher offer, if the rumors are true, which would really suck.

    I also see that former River product Lucas Orban has joined Racing for 2.5 million... Unbelievable! Cheaper than what we paid for Casco! Would have been the perfect signing, but alas it seems to be destiny that he never becomes a River regular.

    Another rumor that has surfaced today is that River is after Nicolas de La Cruz, 20 year old Uruguayan attacking player who happens to be Carlos Sanchez's brother. He has been playing at Liverpool in Uruguay, but apparently he is owned by Milan, who is interesting in loaning him out for a year.

    I don't know much about him, but if he can play like his brother, I'd welcome his signing mainly because we have so few options in his position on our bench with Mora out until next year, Denis Rodriguez still out, and Auzqui being injured, but even when healthy, just sucking horribly. Andrade has been a flop and should be loaned some where.

    Of course, the player is linked with Paco Casal, who is a business partner of Francescoli's, but the kid is the captain of Uruguay's sub 20, which says something, he scored various goals for them in their run to the semifinals, and they really deserved to make the Final instead of Venezuela (sadly, he missed the final penalty that saw them eliminated) It would be a signing I'd be for, and could perhaps tempt his older brother back to the club

    So, looks like Enzo Perez may be on his way to River as a deal nears closer. That would be a good signing for you guys, and he's still got plenty of years left, just being 31 and all. It's not like he's in mid 30's trying to pick up one last paycheck. Perhaps a short-term deal but still a very good player.

    He wasn't our most pressing need, but he adds so much quality that any team in South America could do with. I can't wait to see him on the field, though I am interested to see where Gallardo fits him into the team.

    As to his age, well 31 is not old at all, its still in the prime of his career. The deal is rumored to be three years, but if he performs as expected, he can easily extend his contract. He had offers from Newcastle United, Fiorentina, and a few other Italian and Spanish teams were interested, but he chose River, which shows you the love for the shirt matters more than money, for not only did he turn down those clubs, but he convinced Valencia to turn them down as well, especially the Newcastle offer which was double what River is going to pay.

    Its been his life long dream to play for River, now he'll get to do it while still playing at an extremely high level. Most people may not know that he was named Enzo for Francescoli, as his entire family are huge River supporters. He also said 90% of his friends are River fans and he'll have to drop big money on tickets for each match.

    Bienvenido Enzo!!!!

    It was a surprisingly quick turnaround on the transfer, which just a few days ago was couched with terms like "no hemos hablado nada". It's good to see that our club likes to keep quiet and work to bring in players instead of circulating spurious rumors that never materialize.

    This would mark the third transfer incoming, with Scocco apparently close to being the 4th, and two more still in talks (Vangioni, potentially on loan for a year, and Gudiño, who had a good year at Atletico Rafaela). With these transfers, River would have strengthened every part of the team, from goalie all the way up to striker.

    This is by far the best transfer season I can remember, and to think the window just barely opened.

    Things are looking good.. If Vangioni and Scocco's arrivals become official in the coming days, we could form an extremely competitive team, with an above-average back-up 11 also:

    Lux;
    Moreira-Maidana-Pinola-Vangioni;
    Ponzio
    N. Fernandez--Enzo Perez--Rojas;
    Scocco----Alario

    Batalla;
    Mayada-Lollo/Barboza-Martinez Quarta-Casco;
    Arzura
    D. Rodriguez--Palacios/Rossi
    Auzqui---------------------------Pity Martinez
    Alonso--Larrondo
    Perhaps the only thing missing is a reliable alternative for Ponzio, as Arzura/Domingo/Rossi aren't that competent. Leo's career is coming to a closure, so it would be a smart move to acquire a solid player in that position. His risk of injury and accumulated fatigue is really high given that he is 35-years-old, and we can't risk playing an advance knockout stage fixture in the Libertadores with Domingo commanding the midfield. Worst case I'd say try out Martinez Quarta in that position, especially given our abundance of CBs (Maidana, Pinola, Lollo, Barboza -if he stays-, Mina [most likely leaving], and Montiel), but it would still be good to see a dependable player arriving in that role.

    It is a very good market indeed. I do wonder how Gallardo will build the line-up. Loco- I like your first posted line-up, the only question marks I have, do you think Gallardo will drop Pity? He has kept him in the line-up through his worst moments without fail, I'm not so sure that Enzo's arrival will see him relegated to the bench so quickly.

    The only thing I am kind of scared of is if Gallardo pulls an Almeyda when we signed Barovero, yet he insisted on el Indio Vega who promptly cost made two costly errors in our loss to Belgrano in our fist game back in Primera. I obviously know Gallardo is 100000x the coach Almeyda is, but he seems very hesitant to bench the youngster- and Gallardo does have a capricious side i.e. his insistence on pity when he was at his worst moment and starting Alonso over Alario in the IDV match last season, and I'm worried that the fact that Battalla actually played well against Colon and Aldosivi could persuade him. Obviously I would not start him under any circumstances, the law of averages tells me that if he played well two games in a row, its very likely he's going to throw a ball or two into his own net next match he plays... I would obviously start Lux no questions ask, but I just have this fear... And I've seen a few River journalist proposing a starting line-up with Battalla still in there. Do they know something we don't? Lets hope not...

    In other news, Franco Soldano from Union, Gabriel Gudiño from Rafaela, and Nicolas de La Cruz (Carlos Sanchez' brother), continue to be options as "bets" for the future and also players to strengthen our bench. Worth noting however, for de la cruz to sign, either alonso or mina would need to be off loaded, something that could be hard to do unless the club just takes a loss and cancels their contracts outright.

    Both Alonso and Mina have been listed as likely departures for a while now. Alonso because of age catching up with him (he spent most of this semester injured) and Mina because he's dropped even further down the pecking order with Barboza's return and Pinola's signing. Mina will most likely be sold, possibly at a loss, but I can see Alonso either rescinding his contract or being offered a non-playing role.

    We'd have to see if Pity stays to begin with... Sporting continues to be interested in him, and some Portuguese sources are even going as far as mentioning a possibility of the 15 million euro release clause being paid.

    Please, Sporting, pull the trigger!

    I admit that Pity's season has been of visibly better quality, but even the risk of him backsliding and the possibility of a) his being replaced in the starting line up relatively easily at the moment with the new signings and b) the fact that there are a couple of youngsters in that position who are in need of playing time (Palacios is looking like a great prospect) means I'd miss him far, far, far less than I will Driussi.

    Cerro Porteño have offered $1,500,000 for 50% of Arturo Mina's transfer. Monterrey (MEX) have also expressed an interest in the Ecuadorian.

    Despite finally receiving Gallardo's approval, Alexander Barboza could still be leaving during this transfer window. Negotiations have broken down with Deportivo La Coruña over a possible move, but the 22-year-old defender is still considering a transfer elsewhere since he remains a back-up option in River. Independiente, who also inquired about the former Defensa y Justicia man in previous transfer windows, appear as the main candidate to take him if he does indeed leave.

    Leandro Vega, completely relegated in River, has the possibility of going on loan to Defensa y Justicia to fill the spot that Barboza has left vacant.

    Joaquin Arzura could move on loan to Newell's, although there is also an interest from an unnamed Spanish side for the ex-Tigre midfielder.

    Enrique Bologna's future could be in Sarmiento de Junin. After Lux's arrival, Maxi Velazco will also be listening to offers.

    Tomas Andrade was offered to Gimnasia.

    Nicolas Bertolo
    and Agustin Solari have returned from their loans, but both have a high chance of leaving again.

    Lionel Vangioni
    continues being a possible reinforcement. He was initially rumored to arrive on loan, but now there is a concrete possibility of him terminating his contract early with Milan and returning as a free agent. Talks are currently being held, but we'll have to see if the Italians are willing to let him go on a free or if they'd want some sort of compensation (which D'Onofrio has publicly stated he will not offer).

    Juan Manuel Iturbe has been linked to San Lorenzo in recent weeks, but the 24-year-old is said to prioritize River in the case of returning to Argentina. Last night, he attended the Libertadores match vs. Guarani in person. So far no formal negotiations or even talks, but if Gallardo gives the thumbs up his arrival could be accessible.

    Lastly, Alejandro "Chori" Dominguez practically shut the door to a possible return today, expressing a lack of interest from Gallardo in his services.

    Juan Cruz Kaprof has renewed his loan with Defensa y Justicia for another year..

    Augusto Solari could move on loan to Velez. River's intention is to sell him, but Velez -like Estudiantes- is only in a financial position to offer a loan deal. Colon and Belgrano are alternatives for the 25-year-old.

    Banfield reached out to discuss the possibility of taking Ivan Rossi back (on loan, like the Bertolo deal), but for now it seems the player wants to stay to fight for a spot in River. :unsure:

    Christian Bernardi (Colon) is a player that appears as an option to reinforce the midfield. The 27-year-old has only played one season in Primera during his career, but put on some good displays in the last year.

    Nicolas de La Cruz (Carlos Sanchez's younger brother) continues to be on the radar, but will only arrive if a European team (Milan?) buys him and loans him out to River. The dirigentes are looking to seal an 18-month loan for the Uruguayan, who is valued excessively by Liverpool (URU).

    River continues waiting on Lionel Vangioni. The player himself wants to return, but Milan is hoping to sell the former Newell's wingback to another European side rather than terminating his contract.

    Rumors that Ivan Alonso could be on his way to Real Murcia in Spain. Honestly, I hope he leaves. We can thank him for the fact that we're playing the Libertadores, but honestly, we need to free a foreigner spot and at 38 he's been injured practically the entire six months since the copa final he won us.

    One thing I will say about Alonso is that he is a real professional and he was a great forward. Honestly, I would have loved to have seen him at River 5 years earlier, I think he would have been an amazing goalscorer for us, especially when you consider that we were relying on the likes of Chino Luna and Funes Mori back then...

    Tomas Andrade could be heading on loan to Defensa y Justicia, a team that has practically become our reserve squad over the last few years.

    On another note, Universidad de Chile inquired over a possible Marcelo Larrondo transfer, but incredibly River said the the player is not for sale.

    Lionel Vangioni's return is getting colder, and everytime there is an increased possibility that he'll just remain in Europe (whether in Milan or on loan elsewhere). However, his return isn't fully ruled out yet, and could still very well happen. If there is no news soon, though, River will begin moving forward with the Nicolas Bertolo x Alexis Soto player exchange with Banfield.
