Matchday 10. Another full round of intriguing Toppserien games coming up this weekend. Klepp are on fire these days. Can they upset Stabæk and launch themselves as a candidate for a CL spot? Grand Bodø host Kolbotn for a vital game at the bottom. Will Medkila get a draw against the champions of draws, Arna Bjørnar? Will Avaldsnes drop points for the fourth game in a row? And what can a steadily improving Vålerenga do in the derby match against LSK Kvinner?

Decent draw for Avaldsnes who travel to Montenegro for the Champions League qualifying group staged 22-28 August:

    Group 9
    ŽFK Spartak (SRB)
    Avaldsnes (NOR)
    Kiryat Gat (ISR)
    Breznica (MNE)*

All group-winners and the best runners-up qualify to the main tournament. All groups.

    Obviously,Isabell got a goal again.This goal happened in reopen Chinese league,but it still couldn't bring SuNing club a victory.SuNing 2-2 ShanDong(山东).
Isabell has already played 12 matches for SuNing club, and has scored 11 goals

Chinese NT head coach----Bruno Bini has insisted that Chinese players from NT were forbidden to join overseas club,so we won't see Chinese players in Toppserien for a long time:cry:.

some ideas about Stabæk vs Klepp.Only enjoyed 1st half.

    * Klepp's goal is very impressive, and the whole process is a typical teamwork achievement.

    * Frida Maanum&Ingvild Isaksen performed well in midfield. i like their style&intelligence.control, distribution, launch attack, defence both did well.

*#26Mina Kj?rum is active.when Stabæk launch attack from left-side,Mina often moved to centre forward position from RM rapidly, and then,Stabæk formed 3 forward system at once.

*Stabæk is more methodize, and Kleep is good at physical confrontation.

*Stabæk has still some severe defence problems in the left-side.

Toppserien 2017 - Matchday 10 brought us 15 goals. We are approaching the halfway mark and the table is pretty much divided with a six-point gap in the middle. This is a league where you can be unbeaten deep into the season and still be mid-table. o_O

    Røa vs Sandviken 4-0
    1-0 Ina Skaug 43
    2-0 Vilde Hasund 87
3-0 Lisa Marie Utland (Marita Iversen) 90
    4-0 Therese S. Åsland 90+3
Røa are in a good run of form, four wins and one draw in the last five. This time the scoreline looked more one-sided than the game was. Ina Skaug's goal before half time was a beauty. Sandviken had chances also, but collapsed when substitute Vilde Hasund, benched for the first time this season, scored the second goal following a disastrous back-pass by captain Stine Hovland. Sandviken's recurring problems of messing up in the last few minutes is fascinating. It must be mental. They should seek therapy for this. The last thing you want in October/November is being chased by Medkila because you didn't pick up enough points before the summer break.

    Grand Bodø vs Kolbotn 1-1
0-1 Karina Sævik (Maren Johansen) 25
    1-1 Line Danielsen 34 (pen)
This vital match at the bottom ended fittingly enough in a draw. Few scoring chances were created and the quality of play was up and down. For some reason Kolbotn are much better playing away than home, and took the lead through their only stand-out player this season, Karina Sævik, after a nice build-up on the right side. Line Danielsen's equalizer shortly after came on a penalty following a handball incident.

    LSK Kvinner vs Vålerenga 2-1
    1-0 Synne Skinnes Hansen 13
2-0 Ryoko Takara (Ingrid Moe Wold) 32
    2-1 Aivi Luik 58
A physical local derby match. The LSK engine is running in familiar style. It's not as flashy and impressive as last year, but it grinds out wins when other top teams drop points. Coach Hege Riise said this was their best home performance all season, especially the first half, and also gave credit to Vålerenga who pushed hard for the equalizer. Ryoko Takara scored a nice hockey-type goal, steered into the bottom corner after a missed shot by Ingrid Moe Wold.

    Klepp vs Stabæk 2-2
1-0 Hege Hansen (Hanne Kogstad) 5
1-1 Melissa Bjånesøy (Cecilie Liane) 16
2-1 Tameka Butt (Hege Hansen) 43
2-2 Celine Granli (Cecilie Liane) 61
After six clean sheets (incl. cup matches), Klepp finally let in a goal - a header by Melissa Bjånesøy after a corner by Cecilie Liane. Stabæk were mostly dangerous from set-pieces, their other goal also came in the wake of a corner. Klepp are one of the teams who have had successful foreign imports. Tameka Butt has been very good up front with Hege Hansen and late bloomer Hanne Kogstad. The new mother Gry Tofte Ims, in her 15th season, got 20 minutes in the match as a substitute. One wonders, can she win back a starting spot in this dynamic midfield? Trine Rønning, in her 20th Toppserien season, had to walk off injured early. With two draws in a row out West, Stabæk are losing ground on LSK.

    Medkila vs Arna Bjørnar 0-1
0-1 Helene Gloppen (Elise Stenevik) 17
This was for a long period a very one-sided affair, but A-B proved again they have problems converting all the possession football into goals, or even scoring chances. All in all a subpar day for the Bergen team, but the points were captured. Medkila's offside traps were very efficient in this game. The wet astroturf made it challenging to play precise balls in behind the defence also. On ordinary grass, many of the balls would have been very good, but here they often rolled out of play. Medkila are getting better and they now face Kolbotn on Wednesday in a very important survival match. (Video not yet available, will add later).

    Avaldsnes vs Trondheims-Ørn 1-0
    1-0 Andrine Tomter 30
After three unconvincing games, Avaldsnes were back on the winning track today after a rather controlled performance. Andrine Tomter scored straight from a corner-kick. Avaldsnes could have scored a few more in the second half as the guests pushed forward, but Ørn-keeper Kristine Nøstmo had a good game. Ørn had little to offer in terms of big chances except for the last few minutes when Avaldsnes decided to shut up shop.

Matchday 11 kicks off Tuesday night with a top of the table clash, and then the remaining matches on Wednesday. Stabæk have never lost at home against LSK Kvinner. For the excitement of the league, it's a good thing if that run is kept intact.

I think Thorsnes did more than OK against the US a few weeks ago. She surprised me in a positive way. I don't have an ideal line-up at the moment. I need to digest the first half of the season first.

Norway's Euro squad is being announced at noon tomorrow, btw.

Who will Martin Sjögren select in his 23 player strong Euro squad tomorrow? In my view:

    16 safe names:

Goalkeepers: Ingrid Hjelmseth and Cecilie Fiskerstrand

Defenders: Nora Holstad Berge, Maren Mjelde, Ingrid Moe Wold, Elise Thorsnes, Maria Thorisdottir.

Midfielders: Andrine Hegerberg, Kristine Minde, Ingvild Isaksen, Ingrid Spord, Guro Reiten

Forwards: Caroline G Hansen, Ada Hegerberg, Emilie Haavi, Lisa-Marie Utland

3 very likely to be picked:

Anja Sønstevold (DF/MF), Ingrid Schjelderup (MF), Tuva Hansen (DF)

Which leaves us with four open spots, including one goalkeeper.

Kristine Nøstmo has been chosen recently, but might be challenged by Klepp's Oda Bogstad for that goalkeeper spot. I'm still leaning towards Nøstmo though.

Three spots left. Will he make room for Frida Maanum in midfield? Will tonight's top match in Toppserien be a decisive factor in making a decision on her?

I believe Stine Reinås (Stabæk) and Kristine Leine (Røa) battle it out for one centre-back spot, and that Hege Hansen (Klepp), Synne Jensen (Stabæk) and Amalie Eikeland (Arna-Bjørnar) do the same for one or two forward spots.

Martin Sjögren doesn't seem to be a man of many surprises. More like a methodical manager working with established names. If there is a surprise selection, I believe it will be Maanum.

    Thoughts, anyone?

Yea, Thorsnes has been looking better for every match she's been deployed at left-back, and seems to have got rid of most of the really bad positioning/decision-making problems she had in the early matches. My main worry about her now is that she is a very physical player, and her tendency to flatten players in 50/50 duels could lead to some nasty setpieces if we're unlucky with the ref. Last Euro final she managed to incur a free kick due to standing still while a German player ran into her back, as I recall.

Toppserien 2017. We are halfway through the season and the goals are drying up in the summer heat. Only 10 goals scored in matchday 11. The champions are pulling away from the field at the top, and the polar circle girls are doing the same at the bottom, but in a negative way. And the battle for supremacy out West is up for grabs. Avaldsnes challenged by Arna Bjørnar. On we go.

    Stabæk vs LSK Kvinner 0-1
0-1 Ingrid Kvernvolden (Ryoko Takara) 34
History was made as LSK secured their first ever away win at Stabæk, putting them two points clear of Avaldsnes with a game in hand, and nine of Stabæk, with an extra game played though. Stabæk, dressed in a one-off rainbow coloured Pride jersey, produced very little in front of goal. Their corner-kick expert, Cecilie Liane, hit the inside of the far post on one of her inswingers, that's about as close Stabæk got to a goal. It was a game of few scoring chances. Hege Riise gave Ingrid Kvernvolden a rare chance to start up front, and the 19 year-old paid it back by scoring the match-winning goal after a nice long pass from Ryoko Takara. With Avaldsnes and Stabæk dropping points week in, week out lately, it now looks less likely that LSK will be dethroned this season. (video not yet available)

    Trondheims-Ørn vs Røa 0-0
This was a typical mid-table game of average quality. Both teams tried hard, but couldn't convert chances into goals. Ørn's Euro 2017-axed goalkeeper, Kristine Nøstmo, had a good game with a string of saves, but this was otherwise a rather forgettable game. Røa's away form is still excellent, unbeaten after six matches.

    Sandviken vs Avaldsnes 0-1
0-1 Elise Thorsnes (Ingrid Ryland) 36
This was a convincing allround performance by Avaldsnes. It was the second time in eight days that Avaldsnes won at Sandviken, they also beat them in the NM Cup recently. Elise Thorsnes was the match-winner finishing off the attack after a nice move on the right hand side by Ingrid Ryland. On Sunday, Avaldsnes travel to Bergen again for a much tougher test against Arna Bjørnar.

    Kolbotn vs Medkila 2-0
1-0 Maren Johansen (Marit Bratberg Lund) 51
2-0 Antonia Göransson (Siw Døvle) 90
This was a game Kolbotn dominated totally, but couldn't break down Medkila until early in the second half. Megan Kufeld made a number of crucial saves. This win, their first at home this year, means breathing space for Kolbotn, a club which isn't used to relegation battles at all. Medkila, after their opening day draw, now have ten straight defeats. One positive note was Tiff McCarty back after injury. She came on in the second half. The transfer window opens in mid-July, and Medkila need to strike gold there in order to stay up this year. What they have now isn't good enough. (video not yet available.)

    Vålerenga vs Grand Bodø 2-0
1-0 Jennie Nordin (Synne Christiansen) 49
2-0 Anne Lise Olsen (Synne Christiansen) 54
Silje Vesterbekkmo made a surprise comeback in goal for Grand for this match. She originally retired after Røa lost the cup final last year. If this is an emergency solution after an injury, or more long term, I have no clue. There was little she could do about the goals today though. The last one came after a horrible error by the otherwise reliable centre-back Trine Skjelstad Jensen. Vålerenga are improving, but have probably lost too much in the opening stages of the season to lift themselves above mid-table.

    Arna Bjørnar vs Klepp 3-1
0-1 Tameka Butt (Hege Hansen) 33
1-1 Josee Nahi (Cecilie Redisch Kvamme) 60
2-1 Emma Fletcher (Cecilie Redisch Kvamme) 73
3-1 Lisa Naalsund (Emma Fletcher) 88
On a day where Arna Bjørnar didn't get a single player selected for Euro 2017, it was perhaps a nice consolation to put three goals past a defence which had three players selected. This was a very entertaining game played in high tempo. A-B had problems early on establishing their trademark passing game as Klepp were very aggressive. The visitors even took the lead after a brilliant counter-attack. Coach Røssland brought on Josee Nahi early in the second half, and the game turned in the Bergen team's favour. A strong second half team performance by A-B followed with three good goals, the icing on the cake was Lisa Naalsund's bullet in the top corner shortly before the end.

I want to see the good signs: Kufeld is now back in full form and this somehow makes Medkila more resilient. Tiffany McCarty is back too, and this could prove crucial, although we're of course not sure about her state of form, just coming back from the injury (she's so important that her recovery could have maybe been rushed a little, although I hope not). Another good sign is that the team resisted for an half.

The two teams ahead of Medkila are still somehow within reach; 4 points could seem a lot, but at the bottom of the rankings they're something different compared to the top: these teams most often lose their matches, so a single win could already propel you on their talons.

Bottom line: come on, Medkila, I want to see the "impossible" comeback once again! :)

The engine began burning after ten minutes at the sea. Caroline and her mother jumped from the boat in panick. They are safe though, and Caroline is 100% fit!

There is a very old fable in my country.

i cite this whole article now:

China's northern borders lived a man well versed in the practices of Taoism. His horse, for no reason at all, got into the territory of the northern tribes. Everyone commiserated with him.
"Perhaps this will soon turn out to be a blessing," said his father.
After a few months, his animal came back, leading a fine horse from the north. Everyone congratulated him.
"Perhaps this will soon turn out to be a cause of misfortune," said his father.
Since he was well-off and kept good horses his son became fond of riding and eventually broke his thigh bone falling from a horse. Everyone commiserated with him.
"Perhaps this will soon turn out to be a blessing," said his father.
One year later, the northern tribes started a big invasion of the border regions. All able-bodied young men took up arms and fought against the invaders, and as a result, around the border nine out of ten men died. This man's son did not join in the fighting because he was crippled and so both the boy and his father survived.

caro&her mother's experience maybe will bring good fate for Norway NT:sneaky:

At least, Lisa Naalsund is the first choice home sitting reserve player, should injuries occur in midfield in the run-up to the tournament. She has been told by NFF to be on stand-by over the next few weeks.

Sandviken have signed 26 y/o centre-forward Sofie Bloch Jørgensen on a pro contract from the Danish champions Brøndby. She will join them in early August. Sandviken have been in dire need of a goalscorer all season and Jørgensen, as a big target player up front, might be the one to get them out of the relegation zone.

Thanks for pointing that out for me. Now I finally know what a relegation line is. :p

My idea of a relegation zone in the post about Sandviken, was a broader definition which also included the teams who have lost touch with the pack in the middle including Kolbotn. Threatened by relegation would perhaps be a better expression.
