Won't impact it at all. I live in Georgia, and I can tell you they're not exactly overburdened with choices - they call up unattached players and guys who aren't necessarily starters in the bottom half of Hungary's D1 or the top sides in Macedonia, as well as the top players from the Georgian league (don't laugh when you read that last clause). The Quakes aren't Barcelona and MLS ain't La Liga, but they're a LONG way better than that. A bit harsh. He's only 24 but he's got 104 Eredivisie appearances with 25 goals and was a starter for Vitesse in 2014-15 & 2015-16. He fell out of favour last season and went on loan to Legia Warsaw, but if he gets his groove back, he could be more than useful
Go to bed but seriously that's kinda cool ever check out any Russian Premier League matches? (I understand they are different countries but I would think that would be the closest decent level of football) Though I suppose Turkey might have games equally close if not closer.
Was watching the NY derby, which was decent stuff. Russian games? No. Lacks intensity, full of over-priced has-been imports and the monkey-chants for anyone whose skin is darker than a capuccino in more-than-half-empty stadia gets wearying really fast. Turkish football is much more enjoyable, not least because their fans are completely and utterly mental.
Having been to a Fener-Gala derby, that may be an understatement. Took me about 3 hours to get back to where I was staying.
Miazga has been selected to the US squad for Gold Cup. My view is that Miazga should play the Gold Cup if he remains in club limbo with Chelsea or plans on returning to Vitesse; otherwise, if Miazga is planning to go on loan or transfer elsewhere, then he needs to be ready to leave US camp early because getting a solid preseason with a new club will be more important than the Gold Cup.
Yeah, that's what I posted. the only issue is the two defeners ahead of his are the central defenders with whom MM would be in competition. If MM were to go back, it's basically a question (at this point) of how well MvdW recovered from his spring injury and then, assuming he's back to 100%, how much MM can up his game relative to last season. If he's able to grow it (and as a 21-22 year old no reason he couldn't) he's got a good chance of locking down one of the 2 CD spots. But it's certainly not a done deal.
Is it really necessary for Miazga to play in the GC? Would a great performance really have that much of a boost to clubs interested in him? It seems more risky if he were to get injured against Guadeloupe.
If he returns to Vitesse (who know him), then it's a good opportunity. If he goes to another club that doesn't know him, it could be detrimental to miss preseason Can't worry about injuries. You can't bubble wrap players. They need to play
In a World Cup or World Cup qualifying but in a B-side Gold Cup against minnows, maybe it's not so vital. His club career should come first. Though of course he would need to break into the NT if he wants to be in RUSSIA next year. So you got a point there.
But it would be perfect for Chelsea if the two would develop a deep understanding of each other by being paired.
This is Chelsea we're talking about. Neither of them has any realistic hope of making the first team and they won't be offering them to buying clubs as a package deal.
Freisland wanted reference numbers of defenders in the Eredivisie, so the AD Sportwereld numbers for the player of the year give an insight.
4. Eric Botteghin Feyenoord 6,57 8. Jan-Arie van der Heijden Feyenoord 6,5 Davinson Sánchez Ajax 6,5 13. Ridgeciano Haps AZ 6,42 By the way, it is Voetbal International, not AD Sportwereld.
Someone with the urge to compare MM with the top defenders of the season can use the ratings I posted in this thread taken from Voetbal International. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/yanks-behind-the-dikes-rated.2038445/
But he has no club team right now...he won't be staying with Chelsea. If he gets on a squad, he can always be released. Might as well have him training with the national team and get some games in.
agreed. and while we all would agree on club being more important than country at this point in his career, miazga is probably thinking that a good gold cup showing could get him onto arena's radar for a backup cb spot on the wc roster. that would be an exciting opportunity for a competitor like miazga.
It's always possible that there's already an "understanding" that, unless Matt gets a season-long loan from LaLiga or BL1, he's going back to Vitesse. It'd be to Chelsea & Matt's benefit to keep that quiet and not kill interest from Spain/Germany that wouldn't become concrete until late July/early August right now. Also, if there already is interest from good Spanish or German clubs, a good showing by Matt against better GC sides (Costa Rica, Panama, etc., maybe even el Tri) would make them show their hand earlier, which is in the interest of all three (Matt, Chelsea and Vitesse) Yes, he can get injured in a dead rubber against Guadaloupe and get no loan. He can also get injured riding a bike and get no loan either.
Imo, Gregoritsch getting healthy again. I've harped on it itt (oops, not itt. But in Bobby wood thread. This isn't where I parked my car!), but I swear he was a huge problem for the team. He gets healthy, Mueller gets injured, team goes to hell.
