Apart from anything else (particularly in the last 30 minutes) whereas France had everyone marked up tightly most of the time and were difficult to get through, we didn't - giving them too much room to penetrate our defences. Also there was too much of a concern about turning away from shots instead of looking to get blocks in. The same goes for crosses.
Instead of Cahill doing that crouching tiger move, he should have been intent on lining up a block.

I'm not sure about that, I've seen him play quite a few passes/flicks from the edge of the box for Spurs that have opened up the defence. Not from deep though.

They're clearly proud of the players with nigerian herritage that do well for big nations. It's a remarkable number now. English football in general is followed very close as well there.

    should be England starter...
Hart is a liability who always fails under the slightest pressure.

    Hart sucks

Would rather have Pickford or butland or Forster over him

Pickford kicked the ball straight out of play at least three times when trying to pass, and on another occasion passed the ball straight to a Polish forward. I doubt he would fare much better than Hart under the senior team microscope just yet.

Not sold on Pickford yet. It's a lot easier to look good when you're constantly peppered with shots, as he has been at Sunderland. Likewise Heaton.

He saved a key pen v Sweden..
has that brilliant distribution that he apparently does intense practice on...
see the smaller details and he is the man to look at..

Hart gets so hyped up he makes brainless mistakes...
cant save anything to his left or judge free kicks.

If he goes well at Everton, then I'll back him fully. Until then, he's unproven for me. People were calling for Russell Hoult to be given a shot when West Bromwich came up years ago - he was an average keeper who looked good because they gave up so many shots. Pickford needs to show that he's more than that over a season behind a half decent defence.

And I agree on Hart. I'd have Butland or Forster between the sticks at the moment.

For me Butland should be number 1 with Pickford and Forster as his competition.

That sounds fair for now. I think Pickford has the whole package, but playing for the seniors is a different matter. So far his image has grown during the U21 Euros.

I've been surprised how highly rated Chamberlain is by pundits (and the clubs seemingly keen to sign him).

When he's on he's great but is ver inconsistent

Looks good as a rm in a 343

Michael Keane confirms his move to Everton. Good move for him.

    Keane
    Holding
    Stones
    Chambers

Some solid players who have had a lot of game time

I'm more worried about the cm situation

Don't forget Mawson. There are also Gibson and Maguire, and Dier will be a defender in the long run too.

Then we have the 97's coming up with Fry, Clarke-Salter, Tomori, Gomez, and maybe Taylor can sneak back into the fold.

As an aside, the talk now is that Southampton won't sell Bertrand to Man City or anyone else this summer. I can't decide whether that's a good thing: it would be great to see him playing for a Champions League club, but if they buy Mendy to compete for the same place then that's a battle that he could lose, and it won't do him much good to be a spare part at the age of 28. It would be a different matter if Liverpool were the favourites to sign him.

Sorry, think I'm having a brain fart but can't think who you mean with Taylor?

That's who I was thinking but thought he was referring to someone who's surname is Taylor, hence I couldn't think of anyone other than Steven Taylor ( not a 97 though obviously)
