The Mexico-Portugal match aired by Canal de las Estrellas and TV Azteca got a combined share of almost 50%.

I am still trying to wrap my head around things that have flip-flopped in a bizzaro way from World Cup cycles past when it comes to the digital platforms.

Previously (under old World Cup contracts) if I wanted to see OnDemand matches I could just hop on to ESPN3/Watch ESPN. Univision had no matches OnDemand available to me. They only had OnDemand things for Comcast subscribers and only on Television... ... not Digital platforms.

Now in the 2018 cycle, Telemundo Depotes en vivo has matches available OnDemand on all their digital platforms(Great!) but FOX Sports only has these matches available on their Former Fox soccer 2 go /soccer pass /whatever they call it now subscription service.

I sincerely hope they consider a free month trial during the World Cup with no credit card crap.
    Would be good public relations.

The play by play Spanish speaking guy, I assume it's Jorge Perez Navarro, calling the games in English is so freakin painful to listen to. Worst I've listened to of all time.

    He is bad.
But he has some familiarity within the Mexican-American community because he used to call World Cup matches on Univision the last 3 cycles and was the voice of MLS for a few years too.

I personally think that his hiring was not really based on whether or not non-Mexicans (like you or me) think he is great.
I think he was hired to pander to the Mexican- American Audience who may tune in and say hey I remember him and his silly slogans. He knows his stuff when pertaining to Mexican teams. Let's hear what he has to say.

Now that they have Mariano Trujillo, they should replace him with him. Mariano knows his soccer and not just for México. If that happens, I'd feel bad for Jorge but he is really good not to call games so I'd say he should go to Telemundo. Speaking of 'defecting' to Telemundo, Marcelo Balboa and Hristo Stoichkov should do the same or at least 'loan' them for GC and WC.

    Does Trujillo call play-by-play?
If not, I could see them doing a three man booth with Navarro, Trujillo and Cobi Jones for the World Cup for Mexico matches.

I've seen him do that for Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana and he's really damn good.

Watching Portugal-Chile, it sounds like the booth in Sochi is a bit too small for all the media members. I can faintly hear commentators from another Spanish Speaking country being picked up by the Telemunso microphones,:p

Why is it so hard for a major sports network to sync audio and video?
