It was about time, especially since here in the US, they are illegal thanks to the Bush Administration with the anti-online gambling act they passed in 2006, plus I wouldn't want my kids (I don't have any, after all if you can't feed 'em don'e breed 'em) getting the impression that it is OK to go to those sites (you know kids will pretty much log on to a almost any site they see) and illegally wager on a football match just because they see an ad for a site on the LED ad signage or on their favorite club's shirt. Before this I was calling for all US networks (including NBC, beIN Sports and Fox) who show Premier League (or Bundesliga on Fox) or FA or EFL Cup matches to either blur out or pixelate the offending sponsors on either the kits or on the LED ad signage. I am glad that the FA has finally heard enough criticism from American fans like myself and is taking the necessary steps to end all outright advertising of betting sites, even on football shirts. Now if they can only do that with professional darts, especially with the PDC, so that we Americans can also enjoy watching darting greats like Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson and Michael Van Gerwen light up the oche in sold out jam-packed arenas with their talent.

Here is the rundown of all 20 Premier League clubs from the 2016-17 season and their official shirt sponsors, enough is enough!!! Gambling sites should not be advertised where American kids can see them on TV, the networks here in the US should either blur out or pixelate all the offending sponsors. Here in Washington state (and I'll bet a few other states as well) all TV stations are already required by state law to block all DFS site ("Daily Fantasy Sports", including FanDuel and DraftKings, yes even online poker is illegal here in Washington state) commercials advertised on network programming, so why not???

i don't agree with this move. I don't think adverts encourage people to gamble. i know wenger hates gambling and wants it banned, but then i'm not in agreement, since there is a reason people get addicted to gambling, just like alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or sex even. It's a simplistic solution to tackling gambling, which is a problem for footballers and has been for years.

I think it's the culture that footballers grow up in, and the circles they mix in. I love Adams, but then without being judgmental, everybody knows that the UK especially when he was younger, had a big drink culture. it's lessened somewhat now, but then it's environment and to some extent upbringing.

and let's be honest, do adverts alone influence gambling behaviour? It could be players have money, and once they have bought a house, bought shit for their gfs/spouses, or parents/siblings, and have invested some for the future, they don't know what else to do with the remainder.

Some other gambling sites not mentioned in the post, in which I have seen on ad signage at The Emirates:

    12BET.com

    Tempobet

    Betfair

....and of course, although not seen at The Emirates, a favorite among Sutton United fans, (yeah, right! lol, especially after "Piegate", involving Sutton United's former reserve goalkeeper Wayne Shaw) the now-infamous SunBets, they weren't even Sutton's regular kit sponsor until that FA Cup match we played against them

I honestly don't see the point of banning gambling websites as shirt sponsors.

Bold move by the FA. Kudos to them. Gambling is a sad basis for an economy. More than 50% of EPL clubs had a betting company as their primary sponsor. Good riddance.

I guess, no more "Bet365 Stadium" for Stoke City, it's back to being Britannia Stadium and it should be!!! I noticed NBC announcers like Rebecca Lowe and Arlo White were hesitant to call it "Bet365 Stadium", as it would be illegal here in the US to do so. It gave a very bad impression on kids and other potential fans of the clubs who had betting sites as shirt sponsors, what kid here in America would (or even be allowed to) don a Bournemouth or Crystal Palace shirt when Mansion has their filthy money, hands, and logo on it??? Or Burnley with Dafabet? Or West Ham United with Betway blazed on the front of it?

....and did you notice, it's the smaller, lesser-known clubs that have them, bad news if you want to raise your kid to shout "Up The Cherries!!!" (Bournemouth), or "COYI" (West Ham), or join in on "Glad All Over" from the Dave Clark Five at Selhurst Park when Palace emerge from the tunnel.

Just so we're all on the same page here, the FA ended it's personal partnership with Ladbrokes, a gaming business.

That's it. That's the news. Did anyone actually read the article???

There are thousands of gaming sites all of the world and half of the EPL will continue to proudly display their gaming sponsors across their chests.

Not having read article... I stand accused. Maybe I skimmed it. But what about the thread creator?! ;)

    Good catch Jake!

p.s. I thought it was too good to be true, too dramatic, too extreme, too traumatic for clubs. But it would be so awesome, I guess I wanted to fall for it. But still, good on FA for taking a stand, even if it's only the FA and not the EPL or its member clubs.
