He should, but my point is that there is a lot of conflict of interest, and given that he stuck around at the club for so long, even sacrificing a few years for nothing, I can imagine him sticking around for the C team.
doesn't mean players will stay to play for Barca C. the younger players who are eligible for Juvie A but aren't promoted to Barca B will prefer to stay w/ Juvie A imo. it gives them the flexibility to play in UEFA YL and etc... while older ones.. either have moved on already or has a tough choice to make. the roster itself, imo.. will be mostly of new players. edit - C teams are basically for rejects.. I'm sure Lee SW knows fully well the history of C teams imo. I understand he loves Barca/La Masia but I have more faith on his giant ego to reject such move. As for his brand, a move to Dortmund or other clubs in EU.. while being promoted to senior national team will only make it better. His agent isn't stupid.. I'm sure he knows this fact as well.
Nothing to say that they wouldn't stay either. My hunch is that players would stay to give it a shot. We'll see soon.
If he was perfectly rational, then he should also have realised that not playing competitively during crucial developmental years is hugely detrimental for him. His emphasis was on staying at La Masia back then. Nothing to suggest that that has changed now.
this is a debate that can go on for days. the whole pro and cons of a return to Korea. if he could be developed like Takefusa Kubo in J League, I'm w/ you 100%. but in Korea? so much to discuss..... edit - not to mention, we can't forget the punishment changed from yr to yr while Barca probably told them they can win the case.
You mean fast-tracking Lee to the first team? Any K-League team would have done that as it is in their own commercial interest. It's not exactly a hard process, I reckon. As for your second point, that's fair. But his agents should have known better.
No, the whole development/football environment. Not to mention, you can't fast track players to 1st team in Korea unless you can tell me players can play 1st team/pro football before 18. As for Kubo in general, he is going back to Europe as soon as he turns 18. It isn't about fast tracking him to 1st team player at FC Tokyo...
Perhaps. But he could have played in competitive youth matches. Lee couldn't play in any FIFA sanctioned matches at La Masia. A big difference still imo. Is that a rule? Otherwise just because there hasn't been in the past, it doesn't mean it would have been the same for him. Don't forget the amount of coverage he had even at such a young age. The clubs would have had to have tried. As for your second point, I can't say I have followed his case, but isn't he just a regular player for FC Tokyo? Of course he can move to Europe like any other footballers in the world if there is an offer when he's 18 under FIFA rules. EDIT - anyway, found it. Han Dong-Won had just turned 16 when he featured in K-League. Also, Ko Myung-Jin, Shin Young-Rok, and Jeong Chang-Geun were 16 when they made their debut in K-League
Isn't it against the law in Korea? Anyways, it isn't a clear black and white situation.... From being just suspended temporary to ban but ability to play in tournaments.. to being banned in all tournaments & suddenly.. can't even train at La Masia. I'm sure it was hectic & really difficult for anyone to quickly adjust or make "rational" decisions imo. As for Kubo, no.. not your regular player for FC Tokyo.
i don't know if rules changed but i'm told a player can't sign pro contract til 18 nor can players in HS move back and forth & play in K league games.
For whatever the reasons players can't play pro until they are 18. I guess the rules changed few years ago...
Dembele and Auba are moving to other clubs this summer. BVB may want to add to their squad options in attack. It's likely they're looking at their own academy players and LSW can play there.
At this stage I hope he's hungry enough to take a bite at 1st team minutes and the money that comes with such a contract. I doubt his sponsorships pay well enough. We all wanna see Lee in Russia for 2018 and I can't see how that can happen unless he plays the full 17-18 season in the senior side of a European team.
yea, that is BS. anyways, I wonder why he hasn't been linked to Girona. Pere Guardiola practically owns the club... similar to Samper move to Granada last season (another club w/ close ties to Pere Guardiola), if Lee SW wants to stay in Spain & near Barcelona... it should be one possibility for him.
Ah okay ! That's John Duerden who said that but even him can be wrong I guess. From what I know, LSW said he wanted to stay to Barcelona. Now let's see how the situation will evolve.

Sounds good to almost perfect to me so far, especially the part where he mentioned his mindset is different. I'm hoping for Schalke but let's see. Huntelaar just left as well,
I can see him doing well at a mid Bundesliga club like Bremen, Freiburg or Frankfurt. He should move before the preseason training starts so he can follow SHM's path and outscore the main strikers in the preseason friendlies.
B/c LSW is a forward in the same mould as Huntelaar!? Pray do torture us with more of your convoluted logic... Schalke would be one of the worst clubs for LSW to move to this summer.
I'm just glad he's at least considering about moving... I just hope he moves to a first team whether that's Dortmund or where ever.
The chance of him finding a first-team action in a club of Dortmund's caliber is as good as Uli landing a gig in the same.
