1-0 Italy, was it Dahoud of all people that gave away that cheap ball or was it someone else?

FT, 1-0 loss because of horrid passing.
we end up as best 2nd place team and as such we will face England on Tuesday.

Probably for the best. Would rather face England then Spain.

I agree I'm not keen on facing Spain again in a semi after he lost to them on penalties at the U17.

I think Kuntz should really consider benching Arnold. I know it sounds impossible but he isn't offering much in midfield

Dahoud n G.Jung may offer more toughness in midfield

Maybe Weiser at RB n Max Philipp at RW?

We need to play with more physicality against England

Dahoud had a horrible game vs Italy. Too many bad passes, that easily got intercepted.
he needs to play better vs England, less room for error.

and yeah Arnold isn't good, not even sure why he's the captain and he's pretty average. Although he has 1 cap for the senior NT. I don't envision him having a role for the senior given that there are so many better players in his same position as well as up and coming players that have more potential than him.

Kempf for his lack of playing time has played very well at this U21. From what I've seen from all 3 games. He also seems to be the German player to get fouled the most.

Actually Toljan played decent in last few matches. But I think Weiser offers higher upside

I just think we need to add more physicality in order to cope with the English

Tammy Abraham is a physical monster. And there are few players who played tough-nosed football

I want to see if we can play a 3-5-2 against England

    -----------------Pollersbeck
    ------Kempf----Stark----Jung
    -Weiser-------------------------Gerhardt
    -------Dahoud--Arnold---Meyer
    ---------------Selke---Gnabry

U21 goalie Julian Pollersbeck signed a 4 year deal until 2021 to Hamburg.

I liked Kempf a lot...his passing skill also seem to be very good...If all U21 players played in this tournament Dahoud wouldn't have started and one of our forum members presents a case that he is senior NT starting material

Agree about Kempf, the ball also seems stuck to his feet, which is why he always gets fouled.

as for Dahoud, I've always been on the he has tons of potential but isn't there yet. If he can cement his position at Dortmund and with some CL experience, as Dortmund usual make decent runs, it could help develop him.

that person is @Rosebud for sure. He seems to be Dahoud's biggest fan in these boards.

seems like Julian Schieber is leaving Hertha, which should give Selke even more chances.

Maybe the loss against Italy brings the team down to earth... Once they conceded the goal they appeared shell shocked and lacking in ideas. Got to say Italy looked good and very organized, their players were everyone and closest to any lose ball and they were considerably the better team.

even if we lose today vs England, which I'm not saying we will. It's not too bad given the talent that isn't even participating at the U21/

    Injured: Tah, Weigl, Klostermann, *Sane*
CC: Ginter, Henrichs, Sule, Kimmich, Goretzka, Can, Brandt, Werner,

that's 12 more than half a team's worth of players.

WOW, I'm shocked that Dahoud and Weiser have been benched (about Dahoud, not surprising for Weiser)...

Pollersbeck - Toljan, Stark, Kempf, Gerhardt - Arnold (C), Haberer - Philipp, Meyer, Gnabry - Selke

with Haberer and Philipp taking their places.

I'm sitting in an English football bar in Rhodes Town and got a 1,5l potion beer despite ordered an ordinary 1l xD woman body shaped kind of glass. I'm curious what my girl friend will say when she meets with me in some minutes. Good match to all. ;)

There are a lot of things wrong with that lineup. That said, England aren't very good either(they've brought their B team like us) so we still have a chance. Hope to see Kuntz make the necessary substitutions at half time.

Isn't Haberer a winger or a secondary striker? Is Meyer replacing Dahoud in the No.8 position ? This starting XI is too attack minded. It will get destroyed vs quality opposition.

2 big misses from England in the first 8 minutes. They should have had a penalty. We also could have had a penalty. Interesting start.

Selke scores !!! England have looked pretty weak in the last 10 minutes and Germany deservedly make it 1-0.
