Yes, agreeing with you about your coaches tendency to experiment at inopportune times is definitely a cause for concern
Bruno Fernandes confirmed that there is an agreement between Sampdoria and Sporting for his transfer and said he would be a huge step to play for us. Also reports saying Marcos Acuna (Avellanada) is coming to Sporting to play LW.
West Ham & Watford are eyeing Rui Patricio. It would be a good move for him, he would see lots of shots on those teams playing in a very good league.
I'm sorry to be rude but ******** off that would not be a good move. Rui has been quality and deserves a move to a top club, Watford and West Ham are mid table teams that don't play European football he's far far better than that
Sky Sport says Doumbia is going to Fenerbahce after they offered him 3M a season. Too bad but we probably didn't want to offer him that kind of salary considering we haven't even got rid of players like Castaignos, Douglas, etc... Our players arrived today at Alcochete for pre-season, and among the absentees were Douglas, Castaignos, Zeegelaar and Schelotto. BdC had said that players who did not figure into our plans for next season would not report for training.
Doumbia would have been a massive upgrade to our Squad. I have zero confidence that this Administration can sign somebody of that caliber.
I am referring to this transfer window. Dost had a legit track record, came at a much higher price, and we knew there was a high likelihood he would be successful. Doumbia on loan + option to buy for €6 million is nothing considering his goal-scoring record and the fact that he completely dismantled our entire defense in the CL qualifying round a couple years ago. Haggling over €1-2 million on a proven game-changer is f*cking retarded. We did that sh*t with MItroglou, doing it with Coentrao, and it looks like we didn't want to provide the €3 million signing bonus or provide extra objectives in the contract. This is why we end up with Castaignos, Andre, and numerous other garbage we sign.
Apparently it was a mandatory option if they made CL group stage and/or if he scored x amount of goals. SCP is operating with in their budget as they should. Yes, you loose out on certain players but at least you don't end up like Benfica as 2nd highest team in Europe in debt.
Great point. But we need to splash if we're going to win the league. Going on 16 years now. Trying not to be the Cleveland Browns of Liga Sagres. We need to sell William and Adrien, collect the money, and start spending.
That is some big coin for Bruno Fernandes.....Gonna be a lot of pressure on that kid to fly right out of the gate! I hope he hits!
I believe they are splashing, but on the right players. Not on players who are turning 30 this year. We all know that spending money doesn't guarantee titles. Especially in Portugal.
The one thing that bothers me is that he had better season with the previous club Udinese than I saw with Sampdoria.
I think this is up to date. I'll try to post an update once a week or so if you guys would like. In: André Pinto (27, centre-back, from Braga B for free) Cristiano Piccini (24, right-back, from Real Betis for €3m) Rodrigo Battaglia (25, central midfielder, from Braga for an undisclosed fee) Mattheus (22, attacking midfielder, from Estoril for an undisclosed fee) Leonardo Ruiz (21, centre-forward, from Atlético Nacional for €500k) Out: Rúben Semedo (23, centre-back, to Villarreal for €14m) Ricardo Esgaio (24, right-back, to Braga for an undisclosed fee) Jefferson (28, left-back, to Braga on loan) Bruno Paulista (21, defensive midfielder, to Vasco da Gama on loan) Filipe Chaby (23, attacking midfielder, to Belenenses for an undisclosed fee) Teófilo Gutiérrez (32, centre-forward, to Junior FC for €2.5m)
Should fill that #10 spot nicely. Hoping we hang on to Iuri Medeiros and look for another winger and another forward. Schelotto would've been a great back-up RB, but he doesn't seem to be in JJ's plans so another RB or LB would be needed as well.
