FFA roughly three weeks ago announced part of the next media deal due to start on 1 Juky this year, for the A-League. The subscription will be Fox sport and Fox & FFA have signed a 6 year deal for 57 million per year, for 10 teams this coming season and 12 teams after that. Still to be sold are # the FTA rights on one of the big three FTA networks for one of the five matches. # Digital rights # Overseas rights # The sixth game from the second year of the six years, can also be sold to a FTA network. The expected final figure will be somewhere between 70 and 90 million ... more than likely between 75 & 80 million. There is a rumour one of the FTA networks is offering 3 million plus 50% of gross revenue as never being on a a commercial FTA station no one is sure how it will rate ... The other factor here is the Big Bash League a shorten version of a cricket has taken all before it and FFA are waiting to see what network gets the BBL so they can go with some one else. Give a final update when all is known...
Just an update on what the drums are beating .... Very strong talk that one of the FTA stations will pick up a Saturday night match with kick off varying slightly between 7:30 to 8:00. To put this into context we have 3 FTA stations, and two government stations broadcasting FTA. Each channel has between 3 & 4 broadcast channels with what are called their primary broadcast channels having their best product and normally over 80% of their ratings. The other channels are called secondary channels. Everyone through Football would be on a secondary channel .... however if the rumours are correct Football will be broadcast on a primary channel which is kinda like a wow to the power of wow nay brilliant to the power of brilliant. The channel is 10, and of the 3 FTA channels has the youngest audience which is a good fit as the other two channels broadcast other sports and have an older audience. The money is said not be be huge 4.5 million but the rumour also says there will be income sharing on rating revenue. How this match rates will in large part set the price for the sixth match coming in the following season. We are all kinda hoping this comes to pass but the drums are beating very loud this will be the outcome... This still leaves over seas sales and digital rights.. In summary to date 57 million per year from Fox plus to be sold digital rights plus One FTA match estimated at 4.5 million plus a % of revenue plus Sixth match when the league expands to a FTA station. Cheers
An announcement of TV and telecommunications rights is supposed to be at the end of May. http://www.afr.com/business/media-a...air-rights-bids-due-by-easter-20170404-gvdjhv
FFA [Football Federation Australia] are having difficulties finding a free to air commercial network of which there are three controlling 12 channels. Seems the FTA networks are running into massive financial troubles with one of the three [Channel 10] in real trouble some are suggesting they will close their doors. Streaming is killing the FTA channels and they don't seem to want to take any risk. Football is seen as a risk. I think we will still finish up on a commercial network but at much lower revenue figures than we believed say 6 months ago. Cricket arguably Australia's biggest sport has had a 35% reduction in offer plus the networks want additional product as well as the 35% reduction in revenue. Interesting times ahead ... still confident in that the A-League will finish on a commercial FTA but not so confident of the revenue figure.
Fox can buy out and resell the FTA rights as part of their deal which would cut FFA out of most of the money.
Massive news just released FFA have signed a two year deal to be broadcast on channel one of three Australian FTA networks one match per week starting next season.
This is huge news ... all national matches and finals as well... a foot in the door... The Fox release. http://www.foxsports.com.au/footbal...r/news-story/f7bab99f30a4657f18828ea6333a57d4
Embarrassing deal if true. Free to air on One not even a prime channel. Ten show live cricket every night of the week during summer and we cant even get one match a week on their main channel
10 will exist they have annual revenue of close to 800 million ... they can now re-negotiate their US program costs which they paid to much for are are costing close to 200 million.
More news today FFA has sold to IMG sport the international rights. Some releases on this first from FFA. Football Federation Australia (FFA) has signed an international media rights deal with IMG. The multimillion dollar deal gives IMG the right to market the Hyundai A-League, Westfield W-League and Westfield FFA Cup, as well as selected Caltex Socceroos and Westfield Matildas matches, to broadcasters around the world for six years from the 2017/18 season. The IMG agreement complements FFA’s new domestic broadcast arrangements made with FOX SPORTS, Foxtel and News Corp in December 2016. The final part of FFA’s broadcast rights, a commercial free to air deal the Ten Network, was recently announced. David Gallop, CEO, FFA said: “Australian football has never been seen by more people around the world. This deal with IMG provides more funds to invest in the game and will help to enhance the reputation of the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League, and our national teams around the world.” More Australians will experience the Hyundai A-League than ever before with Network Ten. Chris Guinness, Senior Vice President, IMG Media, Asia said: “Football in Australia is continuing to enjoy an upward curve in terms of quality and interest from around the world with many players from more established leagues now playing their trade in the A-League. We are delighted to have entered into this new partnership with the FFA, amidst very strong interest, and are looking forward to helping them grow media coverage and awareness of Australian football.” The Hyundai A-League was established in 2004 as a successor to the National Soccer League (NSL) with competition commencing in August 2005. The league is contested by ten teams; nine based in Australia and one in New Zealand. The Hyundai A-League season runs from October to May followed by a Finals Series involving the top six teams and culminating in the Grand Final. The winner of the Hyundai A-League Grand Final and the top team from the Hyundai A-League regular season (Premiers) received direct qualification to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL). Reaction from SBS who have supported Football in Australian for over 30 years http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2017/06/19/ffa-eyes-global-penetration-new-deal Football Federation Australia has signed a deal with global sports promoters IMG to market the A-League overseas Football Federation Australia hopes global exposure of the A-League will increase under a new international media rights deal with management giants IMG. The six-year deal allows IMG to take the Australian domestic competition - and selected Socceroos matches - to overseas markets and will replace an agreement with Lagardere Sports. It's another piece in the puzzle of the code's coverage, which includes Fox Sports and the Ten Network domestically. The A-League was shown in 125 territories last year, according to the FFA, which has set it sights on boosting viewership in China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, the United States and United Kingdom. “Australian football has never been seen by more people around the world. This deal with IMG provides more funds to invest in the game and will help to enhance the reputation of the A-League and W-League, and our national teams around the world,” FFA CEO David Gallop said. IMG, best known as a fashion model representative agency, has previously struck deals to help expand coverage of the NFL, Bundesliga, Eredivisie, America's Cup, UEFA tournaments and e-sports events into new markets. The company owns Sport 24, an in-flight and cruise channel broadcasting 24-hour sports. The W-League, FFA Cup and selected Matildas' matches also come under FFA's deal with IMG. “Football in Australia is continuing to enjoy an upward curve in terms of quality and interest from around the world with many players from more established leagues now playing their trade in the A-League," Chris Guinness, Senior Vice President, IMG Media, Asia said. "We are delighted to have entered into this new partnership with the FFA, amidst very strong interest, and are looking forward to helping them grow media coverage and awareness of Australian football.” Earlier this month, Fox Sports announced an arrangement with the FFA to live simulcast its coverage of Saturday night A-League matches - and all finals matches - on Ten's One channel from next season.
Don't agree we have never been on a commercial FTA and this is a small but very important step and its only two years so when we expand we can re do the deal.
