The official 2015 Chicago Fire Motto: The Fire will be a shitty team quicker than you can say the word Hauptman.
Lest anyone forget, the team's improvement has been DESPITE, not BECAUSE of, Hauptman's ownership, and will regress as soon as the league stops propping it up after this season. The thread was near the bottom of page 1. #Hauptman Out
The lines for entry are unacceptable in a stadium this size. The management people watching the entries were seemingly content with a 30 minute line. Double wanding every person? Nonsense bordering on the cowardly. This is not only unnecessary but is a groveling concession to an imaginary threat. We missed 15 minutes of play while 'security', that magic debate ending word, wasted our investment and negated our day. Cowering before an imagined threat is shameful for the club, the city and the country. Stop with the paranoid fear. People who create, people who accept this response to this perception of danger shouldnt be able to leave the house for fear of meteors. STOP IT.
I may be getting old, but that seemed like the brightest sun I have ever seen. We were in the southeast corner, and by the 20 minute mark the sun (and possibly the 1-chant Atlanta "fans") had given me a migraine and I missed most of the rest of the match hiding in the available shade by the embarrassing "Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame" display. did I miss anything?
We had a slight issue at security as well, although we entered about 20 minutes before game time and had no issues with the wait. However, I checked on the game day web site that said that you could bring in one sealed bottle of water per person. When we neared the front, a woman security confirmed that we could bring in the bottles, but that we needed to remove the caps. Cool. Then, the actual guy checking bags, etc., said that we would have to dump out our two bottles of water. I mentioned the web site and pointed to the woman (who was now several feet away doing something else) both confirming that water was fine. He said things had changed and made the person right behind us dump out three bottles of water. I said that I wanted to call over the other woman, and he got a bit huffy and said, "you can do what you want, but I know the rules." I waited and called the woman over who confirmed what I already knew. The other guy didn't even look at me and just motioned us through. Not a big deal at all, but on a hot day, they should know the rules on what is allowed into the stadium.
By the by, what is up with the big bubble beyond the practice field? Is that an actual Fire training thing? I noticed that they still have portable gas-powered lighting, so I would be shocked if Dear Leader invested in a massive temp-controlled dome in Bridgeview after building his separate for-profit dome on the Northside.
