I defended him more early season, but that's long gone. We're slowly starting to get some decent movement and passing around, which should be helping his game. It's not. He's managed to adopt two of the things that I didn't like about Sabo (standing around offside, lack of movement) while ignoring all the positives Sabo brought. Even without a lot of movement, Sabo still managed to get himself into dangerous positions, and had the quality finishing to back it all up. Current Yura manages to lazily move around the field, stand offsides for far too long, and despite lazily moving around, he still doesn't move into any dangerous spots. It's pretty sad that I'm upset that Barrett is injured, because despite his weak finishing, he at least knows how to get into dangerous spots.
The whole Yura-Petke back and forth even got a mention on SiriusXM FC by Dunny. Fun fact: Plata has yet to score this year. Let Morelia have him.
So this is a thing https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017...mmittee-suspends-beckerman-murillo-and-angoua
Plata is our giveaway king and has been for months - not giving him a pass. Sorry about the Italian stereotype - I had to do it...
Stupid thing to get suspended over too. Absolutely no reason for him to give that secondary kick. I've loved KB over the years, but he's been doing a lot of stupid things so far this year. It's frustrating to watch our players miss games over things they shouldn't be doing.
I'm all with you in the decline of KB and the stupid things he does... but I'm not seeing it here. He never looks towards Dempsey in the sequence. He simply tries to stand back up, IMO, and happens to clip Clint. I mean, I bet you could find him worthy of plenty of other things for suspension - like walking with the ball for a good 10-15 yards on a seattle free kick - but this seems like a stretch
I went back and watched it a few more times, and you may be right here. On first watch it does seem like he swings his left leg with some force, but with more views it actually looks like his foot was stuck on the turf, and when it broke broke free it gave it a little extra snap. I suppose I can't fault the committee for wanting to stop these kinds of things, but they show themselves to be so inconsistent, I can see this exact same thing happening to us on Saturday, with no action taken.
Just keeping up. Home LA Draw nope loss 2-1 LA Cassar era ends The Daryl Shore show starts or the Mike Petke warm up band gigs for a couple games Away Red Bull Loss nope draw 0-0 Away Minnesota Draw nope loss 4-2 The Mike Petke era begins with his first game on the bench. In the stands for Minnesota game. Home Vancouver Draw nope win 3-0 Away Colorado Loss nope win 2-1 Home Atlanta Loss Yup, Yup, Yup. To paraphrase someone famous "RSL is exactly who we thought they were!" This team sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks. To quote someone else famous. Away KC Loss And what a loss it was. Home FC Dallas Win Hi Javi, bye Javi. Punishing defeat. Away Revolution Draw Nope. Complete and utterly punishing defeat. Home NYCFC Draw Snow. It was the snow for the win. Away Seattle Loss Got this one right. What do you know? Home Philly Win A win that actually looked pretty good. Away Houston Loss It's in Texas. What could go right? 13 And I predicted 11. 1 game to go. 13, 14 or 16 points possible. We shall see. Over all I think RSL is headed in the right direction. Time will tell. Knock on wood.
I DVR'd the US- Saudi Arabia game. In the interest of those who might still want to watch the game, SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! The US and Saudi Arabia tied 1-1. Lennon got a goal in the first half after the goalie gave up a bad rebound and Saudi Arabia got one off a header in the second half. Unfortunately, the Peruvian referee didn't know what the difference between a run-of-the-mill foul and a yellow card was and dished out 7 yellow cards in the first period. The Saudi team was doing lots of flopping, diving and rolling around on the pitch, which directly lead to Carter-Vickers being shown his second yellow of the match. At the start of the second period, Bofo Saucedo was subbed for Glad and both Herrera and Acosta played 90 minutes. FIFA must have told the ref to keep his yellow card in his pocket or it was going to be shoved up his a$$ since he only gave out one during the second half. However, the other game in the group ended in a tie, so the US wins the group and goes on to meet New Zealand on Thursday. \\
Rimando called up for the US qualifiers with T&T and Mexico. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/05/28/15-mls-players-named-us-roster-june-world-cup-qualifiers
this seems to be another case of the MLS writers trying to get the buildup to a goal recognition in the GOTW voting. It doesn't tend to work. Though, the other 3 nominees aren't exactly golazos. The dos santos header is amazingly technical, but the pass is the highlight. The ATL goal is a great finish, but one that shouldn't necessarily win GOTW. And the NYCFC goal is essentially the LA goal just finished with the feet instead of head. So... I wouldn't fault an RSL fan for voting Plata

So I had the following for 11 points. Draw Loss Draw Draw Loss Loss Loss Win Draw Draw Loss Win Loss It ended up being this for 13 points. Loss Draw Loss Win Win Loss Loss Loss Loss Win Loss Win Loss I'm not going to Vegas anytime soon. I only picked 5 of the games right but I was pretty damn close to getting the points right. I also had 5 draws predicted and they only ended up with 1 in 11 games. What does that say? I think they ended up being less competitive than even I expected. I don't know what this says about RSL other than they really suck. I don't think that Cassar would have come close to getting 13 points let alone 11 with the way this team was playing. I do think Petke had something to do with the 2 extra points they picked up. I like Petke better than Cassar and think he needs a chance to make this team into his image but I don't know if the Waibel, Head Cheerleader Andy or Dear Leader are willing to listen. This is an UP and Down year for sure.
So I was bored and wanted to torture myself an look at the last time we had an -16 GD, I am not sure how much there is to take from such a stat but it was after game 17 in 2005. A year that we finished with a -35 GD after the full year.
I am to the point that when I see new posts flagged in this "Season News" section, I have an irrational hope of seeing confirmation that the team is selling Plata and Yura. Probably an indication of my very negative mindset at the moment.
RSL is last in the league in PPG, wins, GA, GD. Second to last in GF and points. Definitely the current favorite for the Wooden Spoon.
The good news is historically we've never won anything. So chances are, we'll find a way to take second in the wooden spoon, just like we did in year 1! A time when coming second in something means we suck a little less!
