just caught the last 15 minutes on TV - lucky to come away from this w/ a point - one could tell the heat took the leg from the players on both sides of the pitch

So how much blame do you guys place on Jakubek vs the sloppy marking on both those goals? I'm in the camp of starting Newton all of the time, I have no idea why Buckle goes back and forth with our keepers.

As a former/occasional GK, I'm sorta biased where that's concerned.

The recent 3-5-2 lineup has resulted in a lot of missed marks in the back line, particularly when the weak-side mids do not help back as they should. As a coach, I've hated seeing my GK being hung out to dry, but I've also instructed my GK on multiple occasions that if s/he comes out, it is imperative that they either get the ball cleanly, or get some combination of ball and forward sufficiently enough to change the probable outcome if they don't come out.

As the man says, "Don't half-ass two things...whole-ass one thing."

The better production in goals has been nice, but the giving up of easy goals is kinda-sorta making my butt sting.

I haven't seen video of the goals in question, however I have some question as to how much of the pinball effect was responsible - Tukwila's surface is probably the AstroTurf left over from the implosion of the Kingdome, and they might as well be playing footy on a basketball court.
