Read the entire story for yourself . Some players are still getting workman's comp.

    http://www.whec.com/article/stories/s3845518.shtml?cat=565#.VZ6PNYhKRfo.facebook

Tim Crawford says, "I just don't really know where to go from here."

Crawford joined the Lancers a year ago when he says his childhood dream of going pro came true. It's obvious he loves soccer. Now he can't believe his team, his second family, is coming to an end.

He says, "Now nobody can come to the games because people are collecting workers' comp still? Insurance problems? It just doesn't seem fair to me."

Rachel Spotts: "Did the players have access to adequate rehab if they needed it?"
Fantauzzo: "Yes, the players had access to rehab. The issue is that when a player gets injured, after his surgery he could go and say 'hey check my knee out,' and a doctor will claim that he has twenty percent loss of use. That same player will get a giant paycheck and then go play outdoor soccer and then come back to us and play. It doesn't make any sense."

Anyone who can't believe that an indoor soccer team folded hasn't been paying attention for the last couple of decades.

To be fair I added Sonora but someone (probably Jon Ramin) else added Cedar Rapids to the website.

No one is going to remove a team like Oxford City, Baltimore, or Rochester until the league alignment is totally finalized.

After last season, if Sam said the sky was blue, I'd check to make sure it wasn't green.

They may really have folded, but last offseason gave a reason to be skeptical.

Exactly, I get they have workmans comp claims, but Syracuse seems to manage because they made a deal with a local hospital, why not try that? Why not try to get the league to have a league wide policy that would probably, ultimately, be cheaper than single teams finding their own?

I completely understand teams in this league come and go, even if they look to be doing well on paper, but something to this whole mess seems fishy, like last year.

Not to keep beating a dead horse here (last time, I promise!), but yeah. Sam was ready to bail last year, and Doug Miller talked him into another season (that was the story we got). Sam saw the workman's comp thing as a final way out. He probably could have pursued something similar to the hospital system setup in Syracuse if he was still passionate about keeping the team alive, but he wasn't. I do understand and respect his decision, his team and his money. The workman's comp increase wasn't the only reason though, far from it. The fact that he brought that reason up in the media is a bit of a head scratcher.

But fret not, Miller and Mayor Lovely (her actual name) are hopeful something can be worked out. All is not lost .

this is truly a shame, but after all these years of being in love with a pet- like a small turtle-... in the grand scheme of things...not surprising and doesn't matter really. Hate to say it.

I don't think you can have a league wide policy because the WC laws are different in every state, but what Syracuse did is what the league has told teams to do for several years.

It can be done....its what the MLS has done since 2004. The CBA from 2004 through 2010 had it in it and explanations etc.

I have not been able to get a pdf of the new CBA done earlier this year.

There is another sports league that did (or still does?) that I recall. It was a few years ago that I read about it, maybe it was the MLS but I was thinking it was elsewhere. Either way, it can be done, but when people work for the the league (or did) believe it can not be, that's part of the problem.

Being short sighted and not knowing all your options, the main problem of indoor soccer for years. Sam used this as a way out or its a ploy, it's not the real reason regardless of what is said. Even Lancer fans are saying "this was the last straw", which means there is countless straws before it that could have (probably) been solved with a little research. But hey, this is the same people who think TAG is the next Mark Cuban and let Dion Earl own a team, I expect nothing less or more from ANYONE associated with it.

This game is so chicken and egg. It's imperative to have thick wallets to make a sport work, but it's also imperative to have viewers and fans. This game had wallets long ago, but it went to hell. You cannot make it on the professional landscape without TV money, but there are not enough people who care to get it there again. There are some good owners of indoor, but they don't have the collective wallets to make an impression to get others more powerful than them to even bat an eye at this. It's a repetitive cycle that will never ever end. There will be a second league and some will come and some will go. There is no answer to fix indifference. There will never be enough money to make this relevant again. Then there will be another league and on and on we go.

Wasn't saying there isn't a difference. I was saying it's possible, and a league structured as a single entity should definitely have a league wide policy.

getting Rochester back would be a good thing. hopefully they'll be able to make a better go of it this time around. Has anyone considered reviving the Kixx in Philly?

Only every day. LOL Four about four years their owner kept in contact about joining the PASL, but there aren't any good arena options.

They last played at the Liacouras Center at Temple, which everyone hated, but I don't know why. They also even looked at Trenton and Atlantic City.

'Cause the field was too small, they couldn't get but eight dates that year they did it and it's at Temple.

That too-small field now resides in Hermosillo.

If the Lancers do come back. It seem to the me that they would play in the 4,086 seat Dome Arena. Being No. 4 at the Blue Cross Arena is ridiculous. Come on the Lancers being behind the Nighthawks and especially the RazorSharks. I understand being behind the Americans but a minor league basketball team. Now I don't know if the crowds will follow the team to a suburb rather then Downtown Rochester but they will have the prime dates.
