I think I've mentioned this before, so no, this is not what I'm basing it off of. I've said before I want him playing centrally.

If we don't have wingers, we should try a diamond midfield.

I think this could work. Kinna like how Kreis has Orlando playing. I like your suggestion

I might keep Ebobisse on the bench. Start Lennon and Sargent Slaughter up top. De La torre in the the 10. Jones at the base. Adams covering ground with Williamson.

Honestly, with this roster what choice do we have? 1 wide player goes down its over. DLT is actually faster than i thought he was but I want him centrally

Um, no. By any reasonable measure he would get poor marks for that match. You could generously give him a 4 but he probably would deserve a 3. Even right before the Equadorian scoring barrage he made a mess of something that could easily have also cost us a goal.

I've seen enough of Adams and Williamson to last me a lifetime. Neither particularly impresses me. I'd prefer not to have to use both at the same time. I don't see either as much of a help.

My absolute ideal side would be (and I realize this isn't happening).

    Redding-EPB-CCV-Glad
    Jones
    Zelalem-de la Torre
    Lennon
    Sargent-Ebobisse

If Redding played in college and/or his name was Javan torre, he would have been ripped to shreds on here.

He was soft at the beginning.

I prefer LDT at the middle to spark the attack, with Jones and Adams as two holding midfielders to protect the backline. Sargent as lone forward, with two wingers. (Lennon and ...)
    --------Sargent
    ?-----LDT--------Lennon
    -----------Adams
    --------Jones

If we have one of Perez and Akale, I would be more confident on my lineup.

Actually, no. I thought you were bending over backwards to attempt to give some credence to another poster who thought he had a decent game. He didn't. It was awful. I disagree with your assertion that his game could, at best, be considered neutral. It couldn't. Dude made once very nice save but gave up a goal unacceptable on any level and seemed shaky on other occasions. He was flat out bad.

Yes Zelalem having to drop that deep the get the ball against a fast, strong technical Ecuador front was stupid. To play Z effectively he needs a Jones behind him and a creator in front of him. I know Tab can get de la Torre and Zelalem working together creatively but he doesn't believe in it. Redding and Herrera need to step up.

@ussoccer97531 What do you think about this front six?
    ____________Sargent
    _Lennon _____
    __________de la Torre
    Zelalem______________
    _______________Adams
    Jones

Lennon as a SS and de la Torre as CM/AM/false 9 from time to time depending on the match context.

Fine, still would like to see Ebobisse playing next to Sargent with Adams on the bench. I don't believe he or Williamson add much other than decent but not great athleticism and a very good motor.

I realize we have limited options with our roster, but I'd like to think Adams adds more at mid than Ebobisse does up too.

Will go back and read the thread, but I want to give my instant reaction before I pollute my mind. I thought Redding was pretty poor for most of the first half. Some of that was on Herrera, too, as he was just a nightmare early on.

I think Klinnsman could have done better in the 2nd. Won't mention the 3rd.

I think having Zelalem as a lone 6 was not a good decision. I'd like to see Jones and Zelalem together.

Acosta is a guy who plays soccer somewhere. Lennon had a few great moves, but it wasn't his best game.

Josh Sargent is a ginger soccer god.

I would put Acosta in for some width. There is no width anywhere on that team. I like the idea but if DLT is unable to get width you have a problem. Id bench Redding.

    Senegal look physical.

If we dont sort out our defense they are going to manhandle us.

Staying to watch saudi senegal, the level is noticably lower than usa ecuador.

I'll post more thoughts when i get home later tonight, but here are initial impressions

Ecuador is super good and to a man were bigger stronger faster than usa, they were physically dominant all first half

USA was WAY better after jones came in, he was immense

Lennon was anonymous for much of the match but came through when it mattered

Sargeant doesnt look the least bit young or out of place

After the first 20 mins i thought it could finish 4-0, usa was that far out of it

Anyway, more after i get home. Sitting next to ecuador now, poor guys

Klinsi Jr, was channeling his inner Rene Higuita on that third goal. A little too much confidence in his dribbling skills.

Glad we got the point though. After a couple of heat attack moments I am very happy with the draw.

We would probably get out of the group with four points.

Which is why he is a right back, he is not technical enough to play anything else at the highest level.

    Who Lennon?

I still want to see what he offers closer to goal. Im not opposed to experimentation but I still see a spot for him in the attacking third. Like you said, perhaps not at the highest level though.

Props to everyone that stayed up and posted! I taped the game and haven't watched it yet but wanted to post a few thoughts based on the comments:

I was excited about Jones given his strong start to the MLS season and based on how well I felt his physical tools would translate at this level. Glad to hear he had an impactful game.

When people complain about Tab, it's partially based on roster decisions that lead to a player like Herrera starting. Fossey getting hurt was a bad break, but it doesn't seem like he ever really looked at Olosunde or Cannon.

Really excited to hear that Sargent stepped up. I'm a big fan, but like @ussoccer97531 was skeptical that playing him up was necessarily the right choice. Bodes well for his future and gotta give Tab some credit here.

Interested to see what this team can do if/when CCV and Glad get healthy. Those are two of the best players on the team. I posted before the tournament that I was intrigued what a defense consisting of EPB, CCV, Glad, Jones and Adams (and Fossey, sigh) could do and hope we get the chance to see it in action.

Proud of the team for battling back for the tie. Hope Zelalem is alright. Wishing all the young men and coaches on our team the best, even if I don't rate them personally.
