I had posted an article recently regarding some analysis undertaken by the stats zone (@thestatszone or twitter) in regards to La Galaxy last season. They have just released a new piece from the same data looking at LA's goalkeepers, well, mainly Rowe. I felt a lot of people were on the fence regards to Rowe last season. But here is the article anyway, whats your thoughts on it and how can it help teams? http://www.thestatszone.com/article...la-galaxys-goalkeepers-in-the-2016-mls-season Sure it is last season's data, but it shows a clear indication of how LA wanted to start attacks when they were in Winning, Losing or Drawing positions, something that could be vital for a team playing against them! It is in the Galaxy forum as well. But I thought in here would make sense as it is Analysis? Unless I've got the wrong view on what analysis in this forum is?
You've got the right idea. Generally if articles are solely specific to one team, they are better suited for the team forum rather than the general MLS N&A forum. But in this case, even though the referenced stats are Galaxy-specific, the article makes some interesting points about goalkeepers in general, and the analysis is quite interesting from a general MLS fan's point of view. I'm impressed at the level of statistical detail and analysis this article provides and it got me thinking about my own club as well. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for posting this. It certainly confirms a few suspicions I had - purely from an observational standpoint - about Galaxy's approach last season. Good to see the cold hard facts though. They've done a similar piece on the opposition goalkeepers, or more specifically, how changed their defensive/offensive approach depending on the game state - http://www.thestatszone.com/article...opposition-goalkeepers-in-the-2016-mls-season
