I've become somewhat of a supporter of Orient having attended a match at Matchroom last season (especially a fan of Mackey (sp?))

what are there prospects headed into this upcoming season in League One? Now that they've received some $$$ frrom the transfer to Fulham, what type of splash will they be able to make?

Also, hows the rivalry with Millwall? I was thinking of making it over for the home match verse Millwall. Would that be worth it, or do the two clubs not have much of a rivalry with one another? Nevertheless, I should be able to get to London at some point during the season to check in on them!

Not a Leyton Orient fan as such, but they did just play a PSF with my club, AFC Wimbledon. :)

I did get a bit interested in them a couple of years ago when they had plans for a new stadium (with apartments blocks in the corners! ).

Anyway, try here for like minded souls: Leyton Orient Independent - LOFConline

Cheers and good luck in the new season!

I'm ecstatic to see that Orient beat Millwall at home. That was the fixture I had in the back of my mind during the entire off-season. I'm guessing the atmosphere was electric, wish I coulda been there, but its way to early in the season for me to get to London

Been an Os fan since my dad first started taking me in the early 60s
lived just around the corner from the Coronation gardens
I was ecstatic to see them promoted but Ling really has now got to start pulling his finger out and getting some results or I fear
it will be up and down again for us.
we got the talent-Lings got to make it work.

Also what are your thoughts on the Os moving to the olympic stadium after the olympics ??
If it comes off it will be a good move, they are strangled at Brisbane Rd.
although it would be sad to leave, I still have my memories though.
I was there when we beat Chelsea and lost to Arsenal
I was there to see Ian Bowyer's hat trick in his first Orient game,
Ive seen the greats from John Jackson, Tommy Taylor,Dennis Rofe, Peter Allen, Henry Mancini, Micky Bullock, Barrie Fairbrother, John Chidozie ,Peter Kitchen,Laurie Cunningham and even older ones like when we had Big Cliff Holton in the 60s and Vic Halom etc.and who can forget that stunner from Peter Braybrook in his first Os game ! and lets not forget old Mark Lazarus !

They've been doing renovations to Brisbane road (or atleast they were when I went to a match last April), it would be hard for me to see them leave Brisbane Road for a bigger stadium. I'm just not sure their fan-base is big enough to merit the move. Then again, perhaps the reason why their fan-base is so small is because of their location? I would have to defer to someone with more knowledge of East London for the anwsers to these questions.

Tough going this campaign for Orient so far. I agree it would be a shame for them to drop back down right away, since they do have the talent. Perhaps they could bring Zakauri (sp?) back on a loan spell to help solidify the defence?

The only proper football game that I have ever been to was a 2-2 draw agaisnt Scunthrope United. Most fun I have ever had, the O's scored with 10 men really late in the match to go up 2-1 only to let in a last second equalizer. Nonetheless Glyn Garner had a REDIC game, sad to see that he is now at Shewsbury town.

    COME ON YOU O'S

Why is it called Leyton Orient? Do only Orientals play on the team? Was it founded by an Oriental?

Leyton Orient was originally formed by members of the Glyn Cricket Club in 1881, many of whom were former students of Homerton College. The team has had several name changes since, first as Eagle Football Club in 1886 then as Orient Football Club in 1888. History books written on the Club by its Historian Neilson N Kaufman suggest that the choice of the name Orient came about at the behest of a player who was an employee of the Orient Shipping Company (later to be taken over by P&O). The club's name was changed again to Clapton Orient in 1898 to represent the area of London in which they played. However, some historians think the name Orient was simply chosen due to its oddity and has no connections to them being an East-End club.
The name Leyton Orient was adopted following the conclusion of the Second World War. The club had moved to Leyton in 1937. A further rename back to simply Orient took place in 1966 after the Borough of Leyton was absorbed into the London Borough of Waltham Forest. That renaming followed a financial crisis (one of several to hit the club, and by no means the first or last) and restructuring of the company behind the club; this is remembered for a "pass the bucket" collection that took place at a special meeting of supporters in the East Stand, when complete closure was claimed to be a definite possibility.
The club finally reverted back to Leyton Orient in 1987, shortly after Tony Wood took over as chairman and at a time when a supporters campaign was taking place in the Leyton Orientear fanzine to reinstate the Leyton part of the club's name.

Bumping this b\c Orient are now in the Champ. I've followed them from afar since going to a match against Grimsby back in like '05. That was a League Two match. Good on Orient. I look forward to seeing them again as soon as possible!

Well, they're being linked with Andy Johnson and Emile Heskey right now. Not sure which side of the good or bad line that falls.

Interesting to see Orient's name in transfer rumors though. Don't think they've paid a transfer fee in the last 5 or 6 years under Hearn.

campaigns pockmarked by protest and off-field chaos but surely none can match the meltdown at Leyton Orient, who look destined for relegation to the non-league ranks after 112 years of Football League membership. And it is looking less like a relegation through misjudgment or penury, but by an owner’s spite.

Orient have yet to pick up a point in 2017 and lost their sixth match in a row on Tuesday, 1-0 to Morecambe, under their fourth manager of the season, Danny Webb, in his second game in charge. Their starting XI included two teenage strikers, Sam Dalby and Victor Adeboyejo, with a combined total of four previous league starts behind them – and a youth-team goalkeeper, Sam Sargeant, promoted because the first choice, Alex Cisak, was strangely not selected.

Now down to the National League, with the sketchy financial situation.

"The EFL remains exceptionally concerned about the current situation at Leyton Orient. We are also aware of the frustration being expressed by the Club’s staff."

"The Sky Bet League Two fixture between Leyton Orient and Colchester United has been concluded behind closed doors."

It was good to hear yesterday that you survived a winding up petition, hopefully now you can start to turn things around?
