Kind of a poor show to name him in the squad then have him pull out injured hours later. They may well have known he was touch and go but it still suggests they could be liaising with the players better.
Interesting. Only changes I'd make would be Steven Sessegnon for one of the left backs and Oliver Skipp for Alex Denny (Skipp more impressive for me). Shame about Gibbs-White not making the cut, too. Barlow's a good player but I do feel it's slightly unfair that a player who hasn't been involved in any capacity is making the cut over players that have played more. Yeah, he's had an impressive season but still, why hadn't he played earlier in friendlies or something? Would've gone for Kirby or Gibbs-White instead. Latibeaudiere could've gone. Again there's no point taking both Vokins and Gibson who are both left backs - one of Guehi/Eyoma could play right back and when fit Latibeaudiere could probably deputise for the left back that went. Having seen that Gomes is unfortunately injured, are we allowed to call up a replacement? Maybe one of Kirby or Gibbs-White (maybe even Harper, idk) would get called up. Yeah - no clue why I put that haha. Was pretty tired when I wrote that and I assumed he had played less games than others.
Gibson's almost exclusively played CB this season, definitely for England. Would be very surprised if he doesn't do so here too, Panzo playing LB for Chelsea U23s makes that decision easier (as he's done it very well too).
we'll see but only played CB for England. Very important for our build up, and will be even more important now that some of our most technical midfielders have pulled out of the squad
Fwiw, Rakeem Harper is on the bench for WBA so we can probably rule out him as a replacement for Gomes.
Strange that their are better outright FBs than TJ and Panzo but their versatility allows us to choose players elsewhere and tactical flexibility. Also while I prefer em both centrally they can both do a good job there. Good depth
Doesn't have to mean much but it's a bit odd that Brewster (pretty sure this is him...) was watching the Liverpool/Chelsea U18 game today considering the England squad met up Friday. Could be going late but given their first match is Thursday it seems odd.
Any news on the replacement for Gomes? I noticed that Gibbs-White wasn't in the Wolves match day squad ( first eleven or bench) so maybe he has been called up?
Meant as a stylistic comparison, they're both the same build and move in the same way. Big drop-off in effectiveness right now, and that he's been called up is cause for concern that Brewster might not be going.
Slightly more official confirmation that Angel Gomes is out: Unfortunately, Gomes has had to withdraw from the squad due to injury - get well soon, Angel!— Manchester United (@ManUtd) May 1, 2017 Given there's been nothing said about Rhian Brewster withdrawing... maybe Griffiths is the Gomes replacement?

If I am wrong please correct me... ?, Griffiths, Panzo, ?, Gibson, Eyoma Smith-Rowe, Oakley-Boothe, McGill?, Bursik, ?, Hudson-Odoi, Sancho Foden, ?, Guehi, Brewster, Mceachran, ?
Got it now, top left Loader Bottom right Barlow #14 Vokins Next to Panzo and Gibson is Denny. Am I correct?
it's still a strong squad I agree but it gives Cooper more licence to pick the wrong 11. I quite like Cooper, but I'm always scared of england coaches. bar the obvious choices (Foden and Sancho wide and Panzo CB), I just hope he plays McEacran - TOB in the middle so we can dominate teams like this team has been doing since the start.
I think Cooper is okay and not like the older youth coaches. We have a decent breed of U17 coaches from what I've seen since 2014 who usually get the best out of the players they have, which is why I think we'll do well.
Tournament begins today. Here are the matches in order of start time: Scotland vs Faroe Islands (game of the tournament) - 12:00 Turkey vs Spain - 1:15 Hungary vs France - 2:00 Croatia vs Italy - 5:45
saw the second half of France vs Hungary. France has more potential but naive at the back. Hungary plays the counter, 3 or 4 good technical players. At full strength England easily better
