Teso is Darren Fletcher for two reasons: 1. He's Scottish 2. He clearly suffers from IBS Asher is Bebé for obvious reasons. I'm obviously Diego Forlan.
Saw your 4-4-2, after your 5-3-2, which left me perplexed and confused after seeing Williams (RoShaun I imagine) being played a LB. And then when you thought of playing Shaw as a LW. Kind of exactly what I'm getting at when I mentioned that now is probably not the right time to pull stuff like that. Simple is better and ultimately, more effective in all likelyhood.
A sensible recommendation, Ashur, all things considered. Rooney stands out as the sore thumb but we don't have many other good options in front of us. Win ugly, as ugly as need be, and it's cause for celebration. But whatever it takes, let's make sure we put out as proper an XI against Celta Viga as possible.
Rooney, Young, and Lingard seem like sure starters for this one. I'd like to think Jose is smart enough to start Tuanzebe and move Blind to CM to give Carrick a rest but somehow I doubt it.
Carrick ideally should not even be in the 18 Sunday, so he can be saved and fully available for next Thursday. Given the current situation, he'll be on the bench and that's fine, but he simply can not start. If he plays him again Sunday, Jose really can't be surprised if Carrick were to play poorly if selected again Thursday. That will be completely on him.
@Ashur, yeah that 532 was me, trying to make things work by blooding Williams. And playing a few guys out of position. I see no problem with playing Shaw at LW in a pinch, he has the fitness and pace. Williams at LB or RB with Darmain on the other side works too. It is too desperate though, you are right KISS
We either need to win this game or we don't. I don't think we do -- as it's EL all the way, baby -- but those who do believe we need to beat Swansea should reconsider their aversion to Carrick starting. You can't take half-measures for matches you believe you need to win.
Even so, it simply looks like a bad idea to play 2 youngsters together in vital positions. In some meaningless cup competition, sure. But even as depleted as we currently are, that's not the way to go, as long as there are other alternatives. As far as Shaw playing LW, again, it's an unknown quantity, while there are other options still available. KIS is definitely the way to go at the moment, even if if it is barely enough to get the win. That's all that is needed right now...
@gatekeeper2 We need to win every game. EL is the priority so rest Carrick, start the kid. This would be such the perfect game for Timmy to start too.
Surely Teso is Valencia through the ages. Staunch right winger, all right and no left, never quite filled DS's boots, lost his trolling game a few years ago. Some actively hated on him but a year or two of contempt focused elsewhere has meant he can quietly turn in some solid performances of late. Tries valiantly to speak English but accent still too strong for anyone to understand him.
I agree that the priority is the EL, which means that any decision about Swansea has to be made with Celta Vigo in mind. If Carrick can physically handle both games, he should play in both games. But if he can only handle one and not both, he has to rest against Swansea -- as we need to beat Celta Vigo more than we need to beat Swansea. It appears (according to "Man United News") to be a dislocated shoulder for Timmy. If true, we won't see him again until the summer friendlies.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/apr/29/manchester-united-swansea-city-match-preview Borthwick-Jackson being called out for a possible call up.
It appears we did, or at least I should say it is alleged by twitter users (and United's website) that we've recalled Cameron. Man Utd News @NewManUtdNews CAMERON BORTHWICK-JACKSON: He was spotted at the training ground today. His loan at Wolves looks like it is over Last King of Congo @norris_na Apr 21 Replying to @NewManUtdNews He has been playing for the MU reserves for the past 2 games 1 reply0 retweets0 likes Man Utd News @NewManUtdNews Apr 21 Yes correct, just for matches though. He was not spotted in training, now he is back training with the club Just tweets, of course, but tweet are no less (and no more) authoritative that forum posts. I hope there aren't poor souls out there citing you or me as authorities! Then there's The Guardian article I cited, which admittedly is itself proof of nothing as journos get it wrong all the time. Then this: http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.../manchester-united-vs-leicester-live-12875185 But let's forget posts, tweets and media reports. How about United's own website? http://www.manutd.com/en/Fixtures-A...ter-v-Manchester-United-Premier-League-2.aspx April 10, 2017 United: Henderson; Scott, Tuanzebe, Borthwick-Jackson, Mitchell; Willock (Makela 52), McTominay; Harrop, Redmond, Boonen (Ercolani 29); Diedrick-Roberts. Subs not used: O'Hara, Dunne, Spratt. I was surprised earlier today as you are now when I read The Guardian match preview. To be fair, it is perhaps possible that United have Bo-Jack back for now but is for some reason that I can't think of ineligible for play for the first team. What is indisputable is that Cameron played for the U23 on April 10 -- 18 days ago. Beyond that, all is speculation.
What is indisputable is we did not recall him from Wolves in January and he is not part of Lambert's plans there which is why he has played for us in some reserve games to keep his fitness up. If he is back in training regularly it will be with agreement from Wolves but it does not make him eligible for official games as he is still their loan player. None of this is new. Edit: What is likely to have happened is now Wolves are safe (secured last week) they have allowed him to return to us to train. Lazy/ignorant journalists and fans will have simply looked at recent reserve games to figure out who might be involved in first team games given our injuries.
I don't recalling anyone saying anything about a recall in January. The point is that The Guardian article mentioned Borthwick-Jackson being a possibility for inclusion in the 18 tomorrow, which caught my eye and thus I thought it was worth a mention. It appears that a loan agreement can be terminated at any time during the season, upon mutual consent of the two clubs. But as there's been no public announcement regarding the termination of the loan agreement we just don't know whether it has been terminated or not. We do know that he's been playing for the United U23s since February and that's about it.
Confirmed squad for tomorrow's game: Dave, Romero, Pereira, Valencia, Darmian, Tuanzebe, Bailly, Shaw, Carrick, Herrera, McTominay, Lingard, AY, Mata, Miki, Rooney, Martial, Rashford. Mata is back from his injury, which under the circumstances, is a bonus (especially looking ahead to Vigo) and McTominay is the youth team inclusion. He's an attacking mid, who sometimes served as a SS with the U23 because they lacked any designated strikers this year (and because of his height as well). Interesting choice from Jose.
